Wood Flooring Contractors In Your Area
"Nic worked to find the right solution to refinishing the wood on the sides of the carpet on my stairs. He tried a finish in a small area but he wasn't satisfied with how it looked. He has years of experience and was able to figure out a stain that was perfect. The stairs went from bleached areas to PERFECT! He has good communication skills and responds in a timely manner. I would hire him again if needed!!"

"Phil and his crew did an amazing job but beyond that they were very honest! They did not try to charge me more or try to make the job bigger than it was. I appreciate that so much since everyone else I contacted (not on angiâ s) tried to turn this into major and expensive job! Phil is honest and does excellent work! I am very proud to give the 5 stars and I recommend them to anyone who needs quality hardwood floors installed or repaired. Thank you!"

Hardwood floors have unmatched natural beauty that go with any decor from country and traditional to modern and eclectic. Once you've decided you want to install wood flooring, the next step is to figure out what type you want to install.
Do you choose unfinished or finished? Unfinished is a good option if you want to apply a custom stain or match existing flooring. It's also ideal for installing in kitchens because the finish penetrates and seals the seams between boards, helping prevent water from seeping in. Prefinished wood, on the other hand, makes the job go much quicker and there are no odors or VOCs from applying stain on-site.
Should you go with solid or engineered flooring? Solid hardwood can be sanded and refinished many times. However, it is very susceptible to changes in humidity. Engineered hardwood is much more stable over time, but it generally can only be sanded and refinished once or twice.
What species do you want? Oak, maple, and cherry are all good choices because they are readily available and hard. Bamboo, walnut, ash, and mahogany are also popular choices. If you're looking for more exotic species, be prepared to pay extra. These include teak, jarrah, and mesquite.
After you've decided on the type of wood flooring, you'll want to find a hardwood flooring contractor near you to install it. Enter your zip code and let HomeAdvisor connect you with wood floor installers in your area who are ready to get started on your project.
