Plumbline Builders
5.0
We were impressed with Plumbline from the start. Before bidding on the project, Roger brought in a plumber and an electrician to make sure that our plans for our 1921 house were possible and affordable. He and his team offered great advice as we worked out design and construction details. They respected our opinions and ideas, but weren't afraid to offer alternatives based on their deep knowledge and decades of experience. We did a complete remodel--down to the studs. Plumbline did the demo then put everything back together. Roger did an impressive job of managing the project, even as COVID-related supply-chain issues presented daily challenges. Plumbline changed the size of both windows, including adding a bay in one opening. They installed new doors and molding throughout. They coordinated installation of new cabinets, counters, floor, and appliances. They built two new closets. They rewired and installed new lighting. While they were at it, they also did a minor bathroom remodel, including installing new tile, sink, and other fixtures. They kept the dust and mess to a minimum, and made sure that the rest of our house remained livable. It truly felt like each and every member of the team was treating our home as they would their own. The best thing about Plumbline? Roger is an absolutely great guy. He responded to our many calls and texts quickly, he kept us updated on schedule changes and delays, and he was never, ever too busy to sit and review plans with us and answer our questions. He's smart, insightful, and a true professional. We plan to hire him for future projects, and we won't hesitate to recommend him to our family and friends

Chris and team did a great job creating our unfinished basement into a downstairs oasis. The team worked with a quality and quickness that could not be matched! We added a bathroom, family room and bedroom, all of which have been a great addition to our home. They also worked well within our budget and allowed for us to do the flooring and painting ourselves. We highly recommend working with Northrup on your next home project

We worked with Ron Burgess from Northrup Remodeling to do an extensive remodeling project in our old St. Paul home. The work included adding a new powder room on the main floor, gutting and rebuilding another bathroom, opening up a wall. Lots of wall-moving, electrical, tiling, plumbing, drywall. This was as painless as a major remodel can be. And we are so happy with the results! Leading up to the project we were impressed with how Ron listened to us and helped us think through plans. In preparation for the project Ron mapped it out and helped us understand what to expect. Ron's project plan was accurate, and the work was finished within the projected time period of 3 months. Each subcontractor brought in by Northrup was equally great to work with and they all did excellent work. They were willing to work with me on all of my design choices and helped me navigate challenges that come with remodeling old houses

In August of 2017, I hired Northrup Remodeling to complete an extensive remodeling project (attached garage, master bathroom, bedroom conversion into a walk-in closet and 2nd floor laundry room, new driveway, backyard brick patio, siding for the entire house, exterior window painting and, repairs on a number of “deferred-maintenance” items within the house). Ron Burgess was the project manager. Northrup Remodeling did an outstanding job. More specifically, Ron Burgess and all of the subcontractors that he assigned to the project were professional, courteous, dedicated and delivered a product that exceeded my expectations in a number of instances. Ron worked tirelessly behind the scenes to coordinate all of the work, was incredibly responsive to all my questions and, provided me with invaluable advice and insight. In a number of instances, Ron’s insight and advice spared me from wasting money on unnecessary work and yielded aesthetic outcomes that were better than I could have imagined. / / / / / / / / / DETAIL / / / / / / In August of 2017, I hired Northrup Remodeling to complete the following: • Tear down a detached two car garage and rebuild an attached two car garage in its place; • Tie the new garage into a pre-existing mudroom (entailed a small expansion of the existing mudroom); • Full demolition and rebuild of the master bathroom; • Conversion of a bedroom into a walk-in closet for the master bedroom and a second floor laundry room; • One window replacement; • Installation of new siding on the entire house; • Exterior painting of all windows, chimneys and brick facade; • Replacement of brick driveway with a concrete driveway; • Removal and reinstallation of brick patio in the back of the house; • Demolition and replacement of front brick walkway; • Repair of deferred-maintenance items (railing and balusters, screen door, foyer tile and grout lines, door handles, interior doors, kitchen sink, cabinet drawers, etc.) Interior construction concluded by January 2018. Following a break for winter, the remaining exterior work was completed by July 2018. Ron Burgess was the Northrup supervisor for the entire project. My experience with Northrup was fantastic and working with Ron was a joy. Ron brought to bear the skills and abilities of subcontractors that provided a high level of quality work and professionalism. At the outset of the project, Ron set out a timetable for the start and expected completion dates for each part of the project. Ron started the project on time and kept everything moving along so that the project finished within expectations. Moreover, any time I had a question, Ron was readily available and promptly addressed any issues to my full satisfaction. Ron also brought to bear the expertise of Kathleen Winter (interior designer) and Richard Groh (architect). Ron, Kathleen and Richard worked extraordinarily well together during the project. In every instance, they were able to suggest great ideas, integrate the goals/desires I had for the finished product and, most important, they dissuaded me from making certain design/material choices that I now realize would have been a huge mistake. Throughout the entire project, I was very impressed with the subcontractors Ron selected for the work. In every one of my interactions with the subcontractors, I found them to be professional, courteous, excited about their work and committed to delivering an outcome that in many instances surpassed my expectations. When each subcontractor started their part of the project, they stayed on the project until it was completed – in a number of instances, working far later in the day than I would have reasonably expected or, working on the weekends

We worked with Ron Burgess from Northrup as our project manager from start to finish and our project was very well run. We originally solicited bids from multiple contractors and Ron quickly differentiated himself. He was knowledgeable, prompt and accurate with his estimate, and most importantly honest with us about the work we wanted to have done. He helped us to understand the house better and he suggested some smart revisions to our plans that helped us constrain the costs of the project. He kicked off the project when he said he would, kept it on schedule throughout, and he never surprised us with hidden costs. During the project we made several revisions to our plans, and he made the change request process really easy and always gave us fair and transparent pricing. The quality of the work was great, and we're extremely happy with how everything turned out. We'd absolutely hire Northrup again

I initially met with Stephen Clark, who went through the design & contracting process with me, My initial design concept turned out to be too expensive, and Stephen was very good at working with me to revise the design to fit my budget. He was also very good at helping me pick materials. He then turned the project over to a project manager, Dave, who scheduled and coordinated all the sub-contractors who actually performed the work. Dave was very cooperative about adjusting the work start date to fit my schedule. The actual work went pretty smoothly. The main sub-contractor, Jason Collins, was on the job when he said he would be, was very careful about keeping the work area clean, and did his best to minimize the mess in the rest of the house. There were a couple of minor glitches (e.g. a sub-contractor showed up early one morning without prior warning; materials were delivered directly to the house without letting me know in advance), but only one major inconvenience: I had to wait about 2 weeks after the rest of the work was complete before the glass shower door was installed. In the interim, they put a shower curtain in place so I could use the shower - that was an acceptable work-around. Dave and Jason were very quick to take care of punch-list items - and there weren't many. The project was completed about 60 days ago, and I just noticed a potential problem with the drywall tape. I have notified K2 Bath design and they are in the process of correcting it. At this point, I am very satisfied with the project's execution, and my overall experience with K2 Bath Design. I know that I might have paid less for the project with other contractors, but I would have had to do a lot more of the "general contractor" work myself, e.g. purchasing materials and arranging delivery. It was worth it to me to pay slightly more and have K2 Bath Design handle everything for me

K2 Bathroom did such a wonderful job on my master bathroom remodel that I had them back the following summer to do my daughters' bathroom and a main floor 1/2 bath. The master bath was a total gut and redo. We removed the spa tub, installed a gorgeous tile shower (with rain fixture and another fixture). We also put in glass block windows - which were an absolutely fabulous addition. The natural daylight that fills the shower is in amazing. We turned the old shower area into a linen closet with beautiful shelves and more space that I ever imagined. The vanity was totally replaced with beautiful cabinets and a granite top. From the initial contact with K2 Jon was great at listening to my ideas and providing us with a design that fit our vision. They were patient, responsive and understanding of our wishes (some changes along the way) throughout the entire process. The installers, plumber, and electrician were also excellent - and very pleasant to have in the house. K2 kept the project on task (and on time) and communicated almost daily. I had them back the following summer to redo another couple of bathrooms. The first one was also a total redo where we replaced the tub, retiled the shower and the floor and installed a new vanity with a granite top. The second bathroom (1/2 bath) we replaced the vanity top and added a vessel sink and new mirror. I loved the fact that they took care of everything from demo to the installation of the last cabinet knob. Having worked with K2 on two major projects over the last two years, I can tell you they are a company that goes above and beyond for their customers. They have great innovative ideas to help you decide what can be done in designing your space. Jon understood my personality, needs and taste and worked with me to accomplish wonderful results. They were realistic about the time it would take to complete the projects and the initial cost estimate only varied because of changes I made. Every day the work space was cleaned up (loved that part!!) We were extremely pleased with the professionalism, attention to detail and quality of the work. I would definately use them again and recommend them highly for your next project!!

"My project manager, Chris Grose, was great to work with. He was easy to communicate with and always responded to my inquiries and questions. His carpenters did an excellent job and the finishing work of the wainscoting matches existing exactly. I was also very happy with his drywall contractor. The drywall contractor made sure the employee he sent to do the work could match our existing textured drywall on the ceiling portion of the job. It matches perfectly! This was a relatively small job but I never felt like it was less important than any other projects Chris was managing. I'm very happy with Chris and Northrup and will hire them again. I recommend you hire them too!
