Why does Eurovision need nine hosts?

Presenting the Grand Final on May 13 to a global audience of 160 million will be king of the commentary box Graham Norton (far left), alongside Ukrainian singer, composer and frontwoman of alternative band The HARDKISS, Julia Sanina (third from left). Joining them in the Liverpool Arena will be Emmy Award-winning actress and Ted Lasso star Hannah Waddingham (centre) and singer-songwriter and Britain's Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon (third from right). While most are pleased with the return of Graham, some fans are concerned there will be less of his witty coverage from the commentary box if he is tied up with presenting duties. But the BBC said Graham will be sharing the box with comedic actress and former Great British Bake Off host Mel Giedroyc (inset right), who it is believed will help cover for him while he is on-stage presenting. But many fans have taken to Twitter to express their disappointment over the announcement of some of the other hosts. One wrote: 'So much choice when it comes to brilliant, experienced presenters and they go with this random bunch... Graham Norton aside, this feels like a fumble.' Another said the choice of Dixon felt 'so random' while one fan added: 'Never heard of Julia Sanina or Hannah Waddingham.' Both Semi-Finals will be live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, with radio DJs and Eurovision experts, Scott Mills (second from right) and Rylan Clark (second from left) bringing UK audiences their colourful commentary. Meanwhile, Ukrainian broadcaster Timur Miroshnychenko (far right) will be the Eurovision Correspondent in Liverpool, appearing in VT inserts during the live shows plus giving live insights from Ukraine's commentary box. Alongside Liverpudlian presenter Sam Quek (inset left), he will front the Opening Ceremony live stream on the official Eurovision Song Contest YouTube Channel.

Fruit and vegetable shortage: Expats taunt Brits

Britons living in Spain, France, Germany and other European states have been filming and photographing stores piled high with tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers, claiming empty shelves back home are because of leaving the EU. Simply Red singer Mick Hucknall is among those urging 'European friends' to share their pictures on social media where the crisis has been dubbed Veg-xit. The star, 62, is a known Remainer who called Jeremy Corbyn a 'spineless coward' when he was leader of Labour because he failed to wholeheartedly back staying in the EU. But experts and farmers have insisted it is not to do with Brexit and that poor weather in Morocco and Spain coupled with the high price of running gas-heated greenhouses in the UK is to blame. Many British farmers are reducing production and delaying planting this year to reduce outgoings and accused supermarkets of refusing to pay British producers the price needed to cover their costs. Farmer and social media star Olly Harrison said: 'Some people will blame Brexit for stuff not coming in. But it is simply the price is not fair at the moment. It's the supermarkets, the packers and suppliers not wanting to pay the true cost of production.'

Other food chains are said to be preparing for similar cutbacks as shortages are being blamed on bad weather and transport issues in Spain and Morocco.

Putin addresses thousands of flag-waving Russians at rally celebrating Ukraine invasion anniversary - but many say they were FORCED to attend event

Vladimir Putin addressed thousands of Russians today at a rally celebrating the anniversary of his invasion of Ukraine. Tens of thousands of Russians today enthusiastically waved national flags in Moscow's World Cup stadium and chanted 'Russia' in a patriotic display of support for Russia's war in Ukraine as Putin spoke - or so he hoped it would seem. In reality, the Russian attendees complained they have been forced to attend the pro-war rally at the Luzhniki stadium to celebrate the anniversary of Putin's invasion of Ukraine. State government employees said they were forced to attend the rally and university students were told they wouldn't have to attend lessons for the day if they went to the propaganda-filled show. Putin attended the rally and made a speech to the crowd of 'supporters' - a year after he took to the same stage dressed in a £10,000 Loro Piana jacket to peddle debunked claims about why the war in Ukraine started.
