"They did a great job on the three for us, especially since we have very high ceilings. Workers were great and easy to work with. This is not a big deal, but we wanted Benjamin Moore paint, and they used a matched Sherwin Williams. Most painters seem to use that brand. They gave us the left over paint though. All in all, they did a nice job for us, and I would use them again."

"James was a pleasure to have in my home for 2 weeks while repainting the entire interior of a 3000sf home. In addition, I have 2 babies and we had just moved inâ ¦ boxes and crap everywhere. No huge project ever goes smoothly, there were hiccups along the way, but James was accommodating and flexible, and did a very quality job. I would absolutely hire him again, and plan to."

"I hired Jim Sluis to replace rotted wood trim and wood decorative "fence" on my front porch. Quality work done, accommodating my time constraints. Went above and beyond, not only painting the new trim, but also the adjacent trim and all of the trim at that level to match. Also dry-walled an open wall in the garage left open by previous plumbing repairs. Good quality work, good value. I already recommended him to various neighbors."

"My husband and I are new to Spokane. We purchased a house that was in dire need of interior painting. We hired John to paint the top half of the house due to high ceilings, thinking I could paint the bottom half of the house. The house has beautiful wood window frames and baseboards throughout the entire house. Johnâ s work is of such high quality there is absolutely no paint bleed through on any of the wood framing. Once he finished the top half of the house, I hired him to complete the bottom half as well. I would highly recommend him."

"I hired Ryan to stain the underside of a 20' x 36' deck and was impressed with the results. Not only did Ryan complete the job in a timely manner, but he paid extreme attention to detail in applying the stain evenly and ensuring that he was not getting stain on any of the siding, metal brackets, or patio below. I have already hired Ryan for additional painting and staining this spring and have recommended him to friends and family as he did an outstanding job and was reasonably priced. Part of our deck is uncovered and I plan to contract with Ryan to reapply the stain as needed especially in the area where the boards are more exposed to the elements."

"I would highly recommend this company. They promptly came out and gave me a quote. Brendan asked what I wanted and explained what he thought needed to be done and why. Within an hour I had a quote and scheduled with them for September. A couple weeks later they called and said they had an opening. The weather was extremely hot so they worked in the am but was mindful of the heat and how the paint would set. Parker and Austin did a wonderful job. They were on time, communicated, polite and were professional. If they had any questions or wanted my opinion they asked. Parker is very detail oriented added little touches, and enhanced my trim better than when it was originally painted. It really made the house stand out. Nice job!"

What Are Typical Services a Painting Company Provides?
House painters do a lot more than cover your exterior siding or walls with a new paint color. Some painting businesses may add accent walls or add decorative flourishes, for example, and some might also provide pressure washing work for exterior siding.
Interior Painting Jobs
Many house painting services will engage in interior paint jobs. This includes priming and painting walls. Professional painters typically tape off and otherwise prepare the room to prevent paint from splashing on other surfaces and complete edgework to guarantee a visually appealing final outcome.
Should you hope for painters to paint other surfaces, such as ceilings, baseboards, or molding, ask contractors about these services before you work with them. Some may not provide the services and might charge extra fees.
Outdoor Painting Services
Exterior home painting businesses paint the outside of homes, including siding or other outer wall areas. Speak with potential painting businesses regarding the kind of surface that needs painting, as this may alter the scope and cost of the project. Some painting businesses will work on big or towering houses and some will not, as not all businesses have the scaffolding and workers necessary to paint two- or three-story homes.
Creative Home Painting Services
Creative house painting jobs involve decorative elements, such as specialty accent walls or murals. If you have your heart set on something along these lines, speak about it first with possible professionals to learn if they might provide the service or suggest an artist who can paint alongside them.
Providing as many details about your possible project as you can helps painting businesses in Spokane determine if they might be suitable for the job and offer a precise quote.
What to Seek When Employing a Painting Professional
Most painting professionals supply the same services. Having an idea what to search for and what questions to ask can help you locate a painting business in Spokane that best meet your needs.
The first step to take is to research the contractor prior to contacting them. Read feedback, look at the info on the painting business’s webpage, and look over its social media profiles. You can learn a lot doing this background check, including how the company acts towards customers, the type of work the contractor does, and whether past customers were content with the work completed for them.
When you reach out to painting businesses, ask whether they have the right certifications. This changes by state, so double check with your state’s business licensing board for more information. For instance, in some states, contractors that provide painting services are required to have a license beneath the building construction classification.
It’s also wise to ask businesses about insurance. Only employ painting professionals that provide insurance for employees, tools, and liability for any damages if something should go incorrectly on the job that might be the company’s accountability because of carelessness.
Lastly, guarantee the painting businesses you get estimates from have experience and availability to do the sort of painting job your home requires. Not all painting contractors do exterior painting, for example, while some specialize in outdoor residential painting and don’t do interior painting.
Frequently asked questions
Painters usually price a job by the square feet of the project. Sometimes they’ll include flat fees for fixed expenses, like overhead and permits.
We make finding a painter easy. Simple use our directory to find a painter. Here you can browse local pros, check their reviews and do your first screening without ever having to call. We’ve also prescreened all the pros for you, to give you peace of mind.
Interior painting makes for a doable DIY project. You can save some money and get a real sense of accomplishment by doing this yourself. And, with the right prep work – covering, taping and scraping – it’s fairly forgiving. But it takes a lot of time to move furniture, tape trim, prep the surface and cover your floor, let alone apply the actual paint. Instead, save yourself the time and hassle and find a local interior painter.
Leave exterior painting to the pros. Not only do you need to worry about the type and quality of the paint, you’ll also likely need a ladder and considerably more prep work. You’ll likely need additional equipment like ladders, scaffolding and possibly a paint sprayer. It’s almost cheaper to just hire a pro. Talk to a local exterior house painter about your project.
- Do your research. Understand what to expect and what to look for in a pro. Look at paint types, prices and costs.
- Interior home painting costs $1,000-$2,800
- Exterior painting costs $1,700-$4,100
- Painting a ceiling costs $150-$350
- Painting cabinets costs $350-$1,200
- Trim painting costs $500-$1,500
- Calculate paint coverage
- Call pros for site inspections and estimates. Always get three to five estimates.
- Check references, compare quotes, look at past work. After you have estimates in hand, do one final pass to compare the contractors.
- Sign a contract with the pro of your choice. You might need to make a down payment, usually 25% to 50% of the total project cost to cover material costs, but not all pros require this. Don’t pay for the entire project upfront.
- A complete inspection. Each pro takes a walk around your home to evaluate the condition of your current paint, the size of the job and any obstacles for accessing the site. They do this to see how much prep work they’ll need and estimate how long the job will take. The more thorough the inspection, the more accurate the quote.
- Color consultation. Expect each contractor to have varying color options and suggestions. However, you have the final say.
- Listen to the pro – they’re experts after all – but don’t get pushed into a color combination or finish type that you don’t want. Understand the different exterior paints or interior paint choices before your pro arrives.
- A rough estimate or complete quote. Finishing contractors vary here. Usually, they can quote straightforward projects on the spot. But some may need to take it back to their shop to run numbers and give you a detailed estimate with costs broken out. Neither method is better than the other, but just make sure to get multiple quotes.
- How long have you been in business? A long business history helps you avoid shoddy companies. It’s hard for a service business to stay in business if they don’t do good work.
- Are you licensed and insured? Not all states require a license for painting homes, but many do. Always use one that’s insured.
- Do you belong to any professional organizations? You’ll find many online, like the Painting Contractors Association or the Finishing Contractors Association?
- Do you have other work I can look at? Always check a portfolio or, in the case of painters, it’s better to look at work they did a few years ago to see how well it’s held up.
- How long will the job take? Get a rough estimate but get it in writing.
- How many people are in your crew? This is especially important if you work remotely. More people generally means more noise, but they’ll be done faster.
- Will I be in the way if I’m home during the painting? You usually won’t be in the way, but this question helps you understand what to expect while they’re working. They’ll need to lay down coverings and do a lot of prep work.
- Do you guarantee your work? Never hire a painter who doesn’t guarantee their work. This often means they’ll rush the prep work, since peeling never happens right away.
- What type of paint do you use, and how long is it rated to last? Different rooms need different paint and the exterior needs exterior paint. It comes in different grades with different guaranteed lifetimes.
- Can you supply a written estimate and contract? Never use a painter who isn’t willing to put his work in writing.
