These guys are the ultimate in customer service. I've called no less than 17 companies to fix my gas fireplace insert. Two companies made me wait weeks for an appointment, but couldn't fix it. One showed up, diagnosed something that I needed to follow-up on with the manufacturer or it would cost me $1500. Others didn't answer the phone, which is fine, but it was annoying that I sometimes waited a full day before getting a return call. These guys answered the phone and asked questions no one else asked. And when I asked for a repair as soon as possible they told me and quot;of course, if we can't get one of our full-time guys there within 24 hours we will find someone who can be there for you.and quot; And they did just that. I was so impressed with this company. It took Mike a lot of time and effort to come out to fix the gas log connection that had not been repaired in the earlier visit. He took time to thoroughly analyze the problem and determine the necessary repair. He went out to the local hardware store, got the part he needed, and fixed the log set. It now works perfectly. Mike was friendly, very professional and apologetic for the misunderstanding that had occurred earlier. I would not hesitate to use Valley Heating and Plumbing anytime again if I had a problem with any of the heating or plumbing issues in my home. The person who came to give the quote was very professional, but, he also had a lot of pride and integrity in what he does. He was very clear about explaining everything that has to be done and why it needs to be done. I also had some extra masonry work to be done which they did to make the place look nice and they did a really nice job on that. After the work was finished, the owner came out to check the work. He did not allow us to pay, until he had checked all the work. He also found and fixed a few things. He was great; the company was great and the people who worked there were great. I am super pleased with Jones Masonry! They did a spectacular job of repairing leaks near my two chimneys on a 1930s home. This home is so old, the gutters are made of redwood, no kidding. They were able to fix some significant cracks in my stucco at the same time, and replace one of my spark arrestors. I got a complete estimate on the sport with the inspection. On the day of repairs, they were on time (early, but waited before ringing my bell, thanks!) got it done quickly and showed me in detail what they had done. After 3 cancellations and a no show that kept me waiting in all day, this company were extremely disorganized and unhelpful. I left a multitude of voice mails and emails for the manager and they claimed a service engineer came although nothing was fixed and there was no sign that he was even there. I am currently in dispute with them over a $380 invoice they sent me after not calling me or emailing back. It was a horrible, frustrating experience. They have numerous 1 star reviews on yelp in the last 6 months concerning this same issueshow more

It went exceptionally smooth and we were so happy with Tommy's work that we bought a gift for his child to express our appreciation. Tommy was professional and accommodating. Though we started with him for painting only, we soon gave him contract to fix the whole house. He did an exceptional job with minimum supervision. Called them on 11/25 for help to fix a tilted chimney cap of my gas fireplace. They recommended a chimney inspection for $69 since just to come out and fix the cap is already a $75 service charge. If it's just a minor issue, their crew will just re-attach the cap on the spot without extra charge. It totally makes sense for me to the do the inspection instead. Scheduled for 12/11 betweeen 10a and 12p. Rob and Al arrived before 12p and they started by inspecting the chimney from the fireplace then climbed to the roof (2-story) to take a look at the chimney cap. It turns out I am losing a screw on the chimney cap. They re-attached it and let me know that everything is okay regarding my chimney (from top to bottom). There are a lot of dust/dirt collected at the fireplace due to draft from the chimney. They spent time on explaining to me that it was due to an opened damper above the fireplace; however, for safety reason the damper was installed in a way that it cannot be closed. In case there is a leak, the gas can escape through the chimney instead of into the house. They also offered to clean the fireplace for me but I think I can just do it myself with a vacuum. They quickly realized that the frame that hold the glass in front was not attached properly and fixed it promptly while finishing the evaluation. We had Dale Plumping and Heating come out to work on our gas fireplace in December. They seemed to fix it and were very friendly. However, as they were leaving I pointed out that one of the flames was weak. He agreed that it didn't look normal, looked into it, and then told me that a part was likely defective and we needed to replace it. He said he would call first thing the next morning to get the part, call us right after for an update, and come by as soon as he got the part to fix it-- even if it was a weekend. They charged us about $260 for this visit. Two days later, we hadn't heard from him so we called Dale. The woman we spoke to seemed annoyed and inconvenienced because she didn't know anything about the matter. We didn't hear back until the next day. Eventually the part arrived a week later so we called to schedule for him to replace it. We were told they couldn't get us in for another 2-3 weeks. So much for the "I will come by as soon as I get the part even if it's a weekend" statement. When they arrived a few weeks later, they stayed about 1.5 hours and charged us another $300. We noticed immediately after that it smelled a bit like gas. We were so exasperated by the whole ordeal that we sort of just ignored it as it wasn't that strong of a smell. Then, a month later, we went on vacation and all the windows and doors were obviously left shut. We came back, entered the house, and the smell of gas was overwhelming. Clearly there was an actual leak. We called Dale and asked about their guarantee-- they said we were just outside the window for their 30-day guarantee so they would not look at it for free. At this point, we weren't going to pay Dale another $300 to fix something that they did not properly fix the first time, so we asked our handyman to take a look since he is familiar with heaters, although he has never fixed a fireplace. Within about five minutes, he was able to locate the gas leak and discover that two parts had not been attached correctly by Dale and needed to be replaced. He went to Home Depot, bought the part, and fixed it by that afternoon for about $50 total. He doesn't even work on fireplaces and he was appalled that Dale left us with a substantial gas leak and broken part. So all in all, we spend close to $600 for Dale to come over, not fix it correctly and have me point it out, re-do what they did for a higher charge than the first time, and then leave us with a gas leak and broken fireplaceshow more

California Window and Fireplace, Inc. did an install of a gas fireplace insert in November 2014. As part of that they also investigated a problem with our Marvin sliding door. There was a nominal investigation charge for this built into the labor for the fireplace insert project. They informed us that the parts necessary would be a warranty repair by Marvin. Kudos for long term warranty by Marvin too. They subsequently ordered replacement parts from the Marvin company and both we and they waited for the parts to arrive from Marvin. Early in January California Window and Fireplace, Inc. contacted us and set an install date for the sliding door repair. On the appointed time they arrived, did the repair and tested to make certain that it was working. There was no additional labor charge for this service because we had initially setup the door repair as pat of the fireplace insert project. We recommend California Window and Fireplace, Inc. as a customer service oriented company, going all the miles: Checking warranty, ordering parts, tracking the parts and everything to ensure that the door repair was done to our satisfactionshow more

The gas fireplace in my house stopped working via the wall switch. (loose connections) I experienced personable and informative service on the phone as well as prompt call back service when I left a voice message near the time of the year end holidays. The repair technician was nice and wore foot coverings in my relatively new house - at my request. The problem was minor - loose conections. My PET PEEVE was that his first request was to use my bathroom!!!!!! I really, REALLY hate that when I PAY $125 for a 30 minute minor service, I have to allow a stranger to use my bathroom ( and spend an hour cleaning it afterwards). 'Professionals' should use other /public toilet facilities BEFORE a service visit. to a customer. If I use Kidd Fireplace again I will ask that they go to the bathroom BEFORE they arrive for a service visitshow more
