After the company came out, they quoted the replacement of the commode at $900. This seemed high to me. I went to the hardware store and they had a special with the same commode that would only cost me $200. This was far less than Benjamin Franklin had quoted me. I am asking Angie's List for a refund

At the time, they charged me an outrageous price for those. I didn’t realize at that time how expensive it was because I was kind of trapped in a situation that I was having with a toilet that was non-functional and I only have one bathroom. I was at their mercy and they took advantage of it. They said my water heater was so old that it needs to be replaced, they did that but when they did that, the soldering joint they put in was insufficient. About two hours after they left my home I went walking through my hallway and realized that I was locking in water and it had spread out all the way through my living room and flooded my house expect my bedroom. What happened afterwards was a very long process. A moving company had to come in and move all my furniture. They set up the humongous fans that ran for seven days, day and night. It was more than annoying and I had to stay in my bedroom with my doors closed. I totally missed Thanksgiving and Christmas at my house, I was totally inconvenienced for at least two months, and it wasn’t until the middle of January that I had things moved back to where they belonged. I probably needed a new water heater and it was an emergency situation but they did poor work that caused all of this to happen. They did apologize but did not offer to pay for all of this. They were responsive. My insurance company stepped in and handled it for me

The service was pretty good. I had no complaints. The area was clean after the job. The job was done very well. The price was decent, not bad.

It was expensive, but Benjamin Franklin was under the other bids. They were very pleasant to deal with, from the superviser to the workers. I couldn't have had a better experience. They were very considerate and I really appreciated that. Even though they didn't need to do so, they re-piped under my house with more modern piping. I got a lot more than I had orginally bargained for

BENJAMIN FRANKLIN THE PUNCTUAL PLUMBER

I called the plumber (he had talked with my 79 year-old husband) and was told that the pipes are corroded and need to be replaced. I was offered a new toilet if I took the $20,000 option. The plumber did not seem interested in fixing my toilet problem. Instead I called another plumber. He used a toilet auger and cleared the clog in less than 10 minutes. The charge was $80. I called Benjamin Franklin and asked for a refund. The refund was granted

They are really good. They are very good at monitoring my stuff. I had to join a club but they are right there. They did an excellent job. They were very on time. I've also called them on a Sunday for plumbing problems and there were no extra charges. They are excellent. My furnace was shot and they got me rebates and worked things out. They honored a coupon that I found online and it wasn't even for that. It was supposed to be for refrigeration which I don't have but they honored it anyway. They were excellent. I just had the inspection done yesterday on the furnace and there was only one little thing they have to fix. They were very on top of it. I called them today and they will be in tomorrow with all the tools to do it. The plumber actually gave me some personal tips about what I could have done differently and how I could fix it next time myself. They didn't charge me because it was Christmas or something. They are good and at the same time, they are on time and effective. I didn't do comparison shopping

I spoke with Reggie Navarro of Shoreway Plumbing the morning that my water heater went out. I explained what had happen and he explained to me that it sounds like your Thermocouple was out. He said he could be out to my home later that afternoon. Reggie was on time and confirmed the problem and fixed it. Reggie was professional courteous and didn't try to sell me a new water heater. Earlier that day Benjamin Franklin Plumbing came to give me a estimate. They wanted to replace the water heater all lines leading to the water heater, not to mention replace all fixings and the earthquake strap. Good thing I remember that I had an Angie's List account and found Shoreway Plumbing. I highly recommend Shoreway Plumbing !

I found Patrick on Noritz' web site as local plumbers certified to work on their products. I had a faulty heating element on my tankless and first had Benjamin Franklin Plumbing come out and diagnose it. They did diagnose it correctly but quoted me $1400! they'd lower it to #1200 if I joined their club. Patrick came out to my home on time, prepared--in fact he called me beforehand to get the exact model number so he could prepare prior to the call. He fixed it thoroughly...and only charged me for his time--3 hours of labor at $375...a cool grand less than the aforementioned. Honest, capable, and competent. Thanks, Patrick

Matt Melendez was very professional. No pressure at all, in fact he encouraged me to get other bids. He started on time and finished on time. He answered all of my questions. Matt's final bill was the same as his estimate of $7500. I got two other estimates: Benjamin Franklin quoted me $14,000, Mr. Rooter quoted me $12,000. Neither seemed as competent. They both do other types of plumbing, Matt only does the trench-less replacement so has a lot of experience. My local plumber recommended him to me. Important: many municipal water districts have grant programs to encourage people to replace their sewer laterals. In Petaluma I got the last grant of the fiscal year, $2000 back on the replacement! If you are in Petaluma, check with the water district after July 1st, the new fiscal year to see if they are still doing the grants. If you live elsewhere, check with your water district. Matt helped me with all of the paper work

After a month had passed I decided to call The Punctual Plumber. The receptionist understood my concern and took my information. The next day I had to call them again. While she had me on the phone she got someone to start typing my quote and they would email it to me. I received it the next morning

BENJAMIN FRANKLIN CERTIFIED PLUMBING

I called Benjamin Franklin Plumbing to get a bid for work I needed done (installing overflow and pressure relief for hot water heater), running new gas line for stove), as well as to get information on costs/options for repiping the whole house, installing tankless water heater and whole house water filter system. There guy did show up in a punctual manner, provided a rough estimate for some of the work, but needed to look up more information for one aspect so took my email with a promise to send a written bid. No matter how many times I called, I could not get them to send the estimate. There was always some explanation why, I even spoke to his manager who apologized and promised I would have it the next day. Considering that I was ready to drop ~$2-3K on the initial job, and probably at least $10K eventually on the other parts, it was a mystery why they just would not respond. Oh well, I went with a great plumber and will never call BF again..

Ace Plumbing & Rooter

My experience with Ace was excellent. I called based on recommendations from this site and their high rating. The Blades on my disposal had corroded and fell off. I did a bunch of research on what disposal to purchase and price range. I wasn't sure what they would quote since I didn't have alot of confidence in which one to buy. They insisted on not giving me a price until they came to see my sink, size and cabinet etc. I was a bit skeptical that they couldn't give me a general quote over the phone. The last plumber I used Benjamin Franklin (DON'T USE) ripped me off badly. Mike was assigned to my job where he arrived on time and was absolutely awesome. He quoted the job at a reasonable price and assured me the unit (Badger) that was being installed was more than what I need and would be quiet and reliable. He was right. He didn't have the unit with him and had to go get it but assured me that he would be back quickly and that I would be not miss the meeting I had scheduled. He lived up to his word. He replaced the unit, and triple checked his work. I asked him about fixture replacement and Mike took the time to give me an education on what I need if I decide to do that work in the future. He also "at no charge" looked at my upstairs shower head and told me what shower head I should buy to improve the water pressure. He was absolutely awesome and a pleasure to work with and the price was very reasonable. He did a great job cleaning up his work space. I would highly recommend Ace

Benjamin Franklin Plumbing San Jose

I live in an old house in Palo Alto. It has been more than 16 years since the last remodel was done. Everything is due for broken-down.This time, the dish washer broke down, and water leaked underneath the floor. That means I have to replace the vinyl and the sub-floor. This is no ordinary job - I have to remove the dish washer, remove the vinyl, leave the sub-floor underneath to dry up, then install the vinyl, then install the dish washer. I used Benjamin Franklin for a previous job. I love their service and called them back. All these years, I never called back the same plumber twice, because I never found one which I think is professional and knowledgeable. But I kept looking. They came and disconnect the dishwasher. The plumber was professional and completed the job efficiently and fast. However, when I used the water faucet later that night, water jetted out from an outlet under the sink. I called them at 10:00pm. They were fully booked the next day. But they did accommodate my request and sent a technician very early in the morning, as they treated this as an emergency since the problem occurred after their work. The technician arrived around 8:00 am. Within 5 minutes, he diagnosed the problem and informed me the issue: my existing installation was an old, quick and dirty, not-up-to-code installation, and could not work independently of the dish-washer. It is a rare scenario and seldom happen nowadays ( yes, the installation was done 20 years ago ) and that was the reason why the first technician overlooked this. To solve the problem, he needed to replace the installation and make it up-to-code - that means the job was more than just dis-connecting the dishwasher, it was to upgrade the existing installation. But because they overlooked it in the first place, they were going to do the upgrade free. All in all, the technician finished the job in 15 minutes. And everything worked.I am so impressed with the service from the company that I asked the name of the technician - he is Kevin Bueno - and thanked him for his excellent service. I have used different plumbing companies all these 16 years in hope of finding one that is knowledgeable and professional. Now I found one, and it is a company of great integrity who stand behind its service.I was so impressed with the service that I checked to see whether they clean drains or not. I always used another company which has close ties with the city. Now I am going to switch to this company. Besides, I plan to remodel my house in the next year or so. I definitely will have them to do all the plumbing for me, including installing the tankless water heater. Their price is competitive amongst licensed plumbers, and may be a little bit pricier when compared with non-plumber doing plumbing jobs. But I tried it before. For non-plumbers doing plumber job - they look 3 hours to do 10 minutes work, at the end of the day, you may be able to save 10%, but it is really not worth it for the time spent, and the quality of the work that you get. Highly recommend
