Reviews in Houston to Install Bamboo Flooring

Lumber Liquidators Inc
2.0
We were pleased with the initial installation in terms of quality and completion as promised. Several months later, a large section lost adhesion to the concrete floor and began to buckle up. It has now become a safety hazard! Contacts with the store personnel have at this point become completely unresponsive and unprofessional. Contact with the Corporate office is little better. After initially being assigned one representative, we were immediate (2 days) transferred to another, who has not contacted us at all. "We received your signed disclosure statement and photos. Your case file has been reassigned to Kerry. She is currently reviewing your case file and will be contacting your shortly. Please be aware that we are experiencing higher than usual volume and making every attempt to contact our customers as quickly as possible and in the order in which they are received. Thank you for your continued patience." My patience is not continuing at this point

BROWN FLOORING
3.0
As far as initial contact Randy and Char were very prompt friendly and eager to get the work done. I regret not having more time to work with them because of my hectic schedule. When they initially came to the house to move the furniture around so that they could level the crappy K ay B Homes quality partical board flooring, there was one area that did not get leveled and consequently when the job was completed the area in front of the master bedroom completely sunk in. My husband and I noticed after the leveling day, before final installation that the floor where a cabinet was sitting did not get leveled prior to installation day. We should have brought it to their attention before they started the installation to avoid the entire problem with the sinking uneven floor. We assumed we would not be wise in telling them how to do the job since they were the experts. Whithin days after the installation the floors were sinking in only in front of the master bedroom where they failed to level. We asked him to come back and fix it and he personally came back Mr. Randy himself. I came home and was still worried about the area because when he was done fixing it, there was an uneven hump or hill in the floor. I was mortified. It looked like they shoved a bunch of stuff under there and some boards were higher than others. The transition piece popped up within days. Some of the glue was still oozing out between the boards. Do floor contractors leave glue oozing out between boards for customers to see how beatiful the floors and how well they were installed? Before our year warranty was up we ask him to come and check on the area and Randy said the flooring underneath the bamboo was the reason they could not get the job done completely even. They did come out promptly and told me to call them if I wanted them to come back out. But I really did not want them to do anything more because I thought they already believed they could not fix it because the builders grade flooring underneath was a hinderence. I chose not to bother them anymore about it. It has been over a year later I have uneven boards with edges that stick up in areas, and the transition piece finally popped up high enough that we had to take it off because it did not allow the door to open and shut. When I sit across the room and look at the area in front of the master bedroom I see the flooring is a raised hump in the doorway. I really thought that when flooring people come into your home to install flooring that they could find a solution to any problem that builders grade crap could present. Randy said this is definately not the case. He said they " are at the mercy of what the builders put down for flooring". So they could not do anything to change the situation. One of my other concerns is that some of the boards have gaps inbetween the ends of them. The worst gap was 3\16 of an inch. The boards do not all meet up on the ends and so the ends are not sealed. What will happen if water or any other liquid finds its way under those boards. I was not happy about that situation either. I cannot even damp mop my floor. But according to the installer that is what we get for buying the product from the supplier we bought it from. Apparently we get what we pay for. Mr. Randy Brown is probably 100% correct in that the reason the boards do not meet end to end is because of the store we bought them from, liquidator? I guess so..... Also the reason my floor has uneven boards and a hill in it is completely because of the builders grade floor underneath. Still I think I would not use this particular flooring installer again just because he obviously is not up to the task of dealing with crappy flooring and builders grade subfloor. I will have to consult the experts. We also asked the installers to make sure that the flooring was installed underneath the edge of the walls because we were not going to install quarter round molding in front of base boards. We currently have gaps up to 1.5 inches of space between the edges of the flooring and the wall board in some areas. Do they make 1.5 inch thick base boards? If so let me know because we are going to need it. This is probably due to the builder putting skinny wall board up though, probably nothing to do with the installer. In the future I will walk into an expensive flooring store and hire a very expensive installer and maybe we will be much happier with the floors. But it is really not Brown Flooring Fault

Floors Galore By Halfon
5.0
We began by visiting with Albert Halfon in his Stafford showroom. Mr. Halfon showed us many samples and explained the difference between the available products. He was very knowledgeable, professional and patient. He was very careful to make certain we understood the price. The materials were ordered and within a couple of days Mr. Halfon called and made arrangements for the installation. The next day, two gentlemen arrived at my home to install the floors. They were punctual, professional and did an awesome job. We are so incredibly happy

ADAMS AMBIANCE
1.0
Adams Ambiance did not provide adequate service. The plans that they designed did not live up to my expectations. When they installed the bamboo flooring, they created a problem with the sub-flooring, so the finished result does not look right. They didn't install the carpet correctly. The only thing that they did do right was the painting. I'm so frustrated with them, I never want them to come back to my home, even to fix the problems

Forever Custom Renovations
1.0
For those who would rather not read a long review, I will give you the bottom-line UP FRONT. One of FCR's workers caused a FIRE in my house due to spontaneous combustion with only my 2 kids (13 and 8) inside. The fire burned a hole approximately 12" in diameter in the carpet they were pulling up to redo the floor. The fire caused some EXTREMELY strong fumes which filled the house. It was nothing short of a miracle that my kids didn't get trapped inside, but thankfully my wife just so happened to stop back by the house to pick something up though she could barely stand the fumes upon entering. She was able to locate the area where the fire was burning and moved the role of carpet outside. At the same time she called out for my kids (who were upstairs) and they all got out of the house safely, which was the ONLY thing I cared about! I was out of town on business at the time but once I was able to calm my wife and kids down, we agreed that we would not allow this company to enter our house again. Jonah, the owner, called me the next day and apologized, but I was not interested in what he had to say as his workers had put my family's safety at risk. I told Jonah that I did NOT want his crew in my house again and that I was cancelling the job. At that point I had already paid $2k (20% upfront) and they had completed about 75% of the job. Considering the totality of what had taken place, I was SHOCKED that Jonah didn't even make MENTION of simply cutting his losses and walking away from the whole thing. Then, having just heard me say the job was over, Jonah started talking about giving him an opportunity to complete the job, which I assumed was some sort of an attempt to try to make things right (HUGE mistake on my part). After going back and forth and him promising to personally be on site to supervise the rest of the job, I reluctantly agreed. Unfortunately, I was DEAD wrong about him trying to make things right - immediately upon completion of the job he left a voice mail stating it was time to "settle up on the remaining balance." I couldn't BELIEVE this guy had completely DISMISSED what had happened and I'm not sure I've EVER been as OFFENDED as I was at that very moment. This all happened in September 2021, and if you can believe it, on 12/6/21 I was served a LAWSUIT by none other than Forever Custom Renovations for the remaining balance. Also, coincidentally the floor manufacturer actually called for an underlayment to be used, but due to poor workmanship that DID NOT get done and now about 75% of our floor makes extremely loud “popping” noises when walked on. The cost for pulling the floor back up, installing the underlayment, and reinstalling the floor cost as much or MORE than what they feel I owe THEM! Finally, take my review for whatever you feel it's worth, but I stand to gain NOTHING and now must drag my family through a lawsuit from a guy whose company caused a fire in my house! The only intent of this review is to make you aware of how the owner of FCR, Jonah S., completely DISSMISSED such a SERIOUS situation and continues to literally act as if it never happened! Please, please be careful with using this company – I learned the hard way. (It's also worth mentioning that the minimum rating the system would allow me to give was 1 star

FLAGSHIP FLOORS
5.0
In August 2011, this company installed a bamboo engineered wood floor in a large area of our home. I got rough estimates from four places by specifying the number of square feet and explaining roughly the layout of the rooms and hall. I then got formal bids from the companies with two lowest estimates. The lowest bid was 10% less than Flagship Floors. But, the salesman with the lowest bid didn't appear to understand wood floors. He was very friendly and tried to be helpful but I think he was a carpet salesman. He gave incorrect answers (I learned later) to a couple or three of my questions. Had I followed his advice the installation would not have looked as nice. I didn't have confidence in him. Whereas, the Flagship salesman had been a wood floor installer. He was very pleasant and clearly understood the process better than the low bidder. Thus I decided to pay a little more and chose Flagship. We've been very happy with the choice. We could not have asked for a more attentive and cooperative outfit. All during the installation they responded cheerfully to any requests or issues. After it was complete the salesman came by and tutored us on proper care of the floor. He suggested we live with it for a week or so to discover any and ldquo;issues.and rdquo; He then called to ask it there were any problems. Though we thought the installation was well done. There were a couple of issues. One quite minor and another though not a big deal (my wife wanted me to forget about it) nagged at me. The issue that nagged me, though a minor annoyance to us, required a substantial effort on their part to fix. If pushed, I'd have been reluctantly willing to live with -- without hesitation or reluctance they agreed to fix it. So, now that the floor is complete, it's perfect. We love it. And after such a positive experience, if we have any more floor work we'll be returning to Flagship Floors. P.S. Three of the four places I went to originally were friendly and two were helpful in understanding flooring (we'd never gotten wood flooring before). One was unhelpful to the point of rudeness. I managed to struggle an estimate out of them and they were double the price of my lowest estimate and meaningfully higher than the one just lower than them. They were quoting exactly the same flooring -- brand and model -- as the lowest bidder. This negative company was Roberts Carpets and Floors. I don't plan to have any dealings with them again. This has nothing to do with Flagship Floors, but here are my observations on buying wood floors. Buying one floor certainly doesn't make me an expert but here are some things I learned. You should not put a solid wood bamboo floor on concrete. Concrete absorbs moisture from below and the bamboo wicks the moisture into its veins causing it to warp and buckle. Probably the best way to install engineered bamboo is to glue it to the concrete. The other method is to install it over a pad. This is called and ldquo;floatingand rdquo; the floor. A few years ago floated floors made a hollow sound when walked on. I definitely didn't want this, but was told modern pads had largely overcome this problem, and our floor sounds solid when you walk on it. However, you must have a good installer who makes sure the floor is perfectly flat or this can still be a problem. To avoid this potential problem, companies want to glue them down, particularly if they don't have topnotch installers. Some floors are too uneven to do it at all. It was only after the carpets were removed that Flagship would say whether they'd be able to float our floor. So we had two bids from them, one for doing it each way. Glued floors cost more, but that wasn't a factor in our choice. If you glue the floor down it is very hard to remove. If you decide you've made a bad choice or want to change the floor later, it must be chipped up in tiny pieces -- time consuming and expensive. For this reason, and this reason only, we chose a floated floor. An advantage to floated floors is they're softer to walk on. You don't notice it when walking on them but, they give just a little. A friend who replaced carpet with glued down wood floors complained her ankles and lower legs ached for a few weeks until she adapted to them. With either method of installation, wood's hard and if you drop a breakable object, it's probably history. We were accustomed to this because much of the rest of our house has ceramic tile floors and they're completely unforgiving. Wood is more forgiving than ceramic tile and floated wood is yet more forgiving than glued down. Carpet, of course, is very forgiving. Wood floors are slicker than carpet. Our pup can run in place for 2-3 seconds when she tries to take off in a hurry. One issue with floated floors is they click or snap occasionally. Because, with the pad, a board can move a tiny amount relative to the adjacent board they sometimes make a click sound. I'd rather they not do this, but it's a minor issue, certainly not enough to choose glue down. No one's mentioned it and I may be the only one who's noticed it before I point it out. If it makes you feel better, the original basic nailed down wood floors make these kinds of movement noises, so you could tell your friends you have a real, nailed wood floor. ;-) When we chose wood floors we thought they would require less maintenance than carpet. Not so, they may require more. If you allow sand/grit to remain on wood floors it will grind the surface and ndash; grit has no effect on carpets. So, you have to clean wood floors more regularly. And about once a week you have to go over it with a cleaning elixir. Also, you have to put little felt pads on the bottom of all furniture legs to keep them from scarring the floor, and these pads have to be replaced with some regularity

KW Floors
1.0
We ended up having to settle with their insurance company because they did such a horrible job on the floors. We thought we were hiring them but they subcontracted out and gave our key to their subcontractor; in all honesty, I could not recommend KW Floors to anyone?even my own worst enemy. If it hadn?t been for their insurance carrier we went back against, we would still be stuck with horrible floors. Because Liberty Mutual stepped up to the plate, we were made whole. The bamboo flooring wasn?t purchased through them, they were just the installer

Lumber Liquidators
5.0
Lumber Liquidators is great. Eli took care of the complete installation and made sure that the project was completed on time and in a professional manner. They stuck by their quote which was great since they ended up requiring more floor float material than quoted. The entire team was very professional. My only complaint is minor. They were in a bit of a hurry on the last day and the installers were different than our original group. These guys left some big globs of glue that was not easy to get up, but it is minor compared to how wonderful the whole job turned out

Hardwood Floors By Octavio
5.0
The experience was excellent. Octavio and Victoria were very communicative and punctual and Octavio has a passion for his work We had ordered trim pieces for the doorways and transition to the tile but they were somehow dropped off our order; we figured we'd take care of this ourselves at a later date. Octavio unprompted, brought trip pieces with him on the last day of the installation and asked if we'd like him to stain these to match and install them for us. We were grateful for his thoughtfulness and he did a great job matching our floor color - so much so that I paid him extra for that work

PETE'S FLOOR COVERING INC
5.0
Installation was spread out over 4 separate installations over a year. Each time crew showed up when scheduled and completed work on time. During the bamboo flooring installation my wife noticed several areas with drastic color shifts in the planking. Pete had his crew remove almost half the planking and reinstall so that the shifts were far less apparent. He and his crew know the importance of doing a job as good or better than you would want in your own home

Lumber Liquidators

We went to Lowes, Home Depot, Jacks Carpet, Flooring and Decor, and finally Lumber Liquidators when we were looking for some laminate flooring. Lumber Liquidators had the best options for us and their prices were neck and neck with Floor and Decor. They salesmen were very knowledgeable and never seemed overanxious to make a sale. The salesmen were real nice and even stayed after-hours when we were just browsing for options. With the price, customer service, and flooring options, we went with Lumber Liquidators. I would definitely recommend anyone in the market for hard-wood, bamboo, or laminate flooring to check them out

RJO Construction And Flooring
5.0
Overall, the installation went very well. The main job was flooring. Rene ripped out all of the flooring on the ground floor of my home; replaced it with bamboo hardwood and tile. He was able to complete roughly 1600 sq. ft. of flooring in under 4 days. In addition to flooring, Rene also installed my tv above my fireplace; created a platform for my front loading washer and dryer; created a shoe closet underneath an opening below the staircase; and attached gutters to the outside of my home. All of this was done in less than 6 days and all done with the skill of an artisan. I have received numerous compliments on the quality of the flooring and craftsmanship of the platform and closet
The young men that came out to install the floor were extremely polite and professional. All areas were left clean and in order before they left. They worked very hard and had the entire floor installed in one day. This was quite a lot of area to cover. They only had to come out the second day to install the quarter round in each room. My husband and I are very pleased with how the floors look. It really transformed those two rooms. I would definitely hire this contractor again
Overall we are very happy with the work Rick O's did at our house. Rick gave fair pricing quick, upfront and itemized with enough detail to review. We had some back and forth on the proposal to ensure we were on the same page and agreed to the scope. Rick had us buy all of the material direct. So the value shown on this review is only for what we paid directly to Rick. The total was over $75000. During the process when we made changes we discussed them before they proceed and agreed on pricing instead of waiting to the end. The overall process took 13 1/2 weeks to complete two bathrooms effectively take down to bare studs and completely updated as well as replacing approximately 1000 SF of flooring in the front of our house with tile. We did the project in 3 phases doing one bathroom at a time so we could stay in the house during the remodel. Once they were complete they tackled the flooring in the front of the house. In total on 4 rooms in the house were not touched in some way. As you can imaging during the process we got pretty restless and impatient, but once it was complete we are thrilled. The whole house looks fantastic
SDR finished a refresh of my condo ahead of schedule. New bathroom, flooring, paint, custom cabinets & lighting. Garage interior paint and epoxy floor. Great communication. Would definitely call them again.
Awesome job by AIS. We were already familiar with their quality and they lived up to their reputation. Everything looks great. True professionals in every way. Will hire again.
Dave Summers is a seasoned professional contractor with a reliable crew of talented tradespeople - including his son, Paul. My project was on a tight-timeline, and Dave helped navigate the many decisions and selections that needed to be made. We are happy with the quality work that was done and Five Star's ability to deliver on our designs and specifications. 5 stars for Five Star Painting and Remodeling
An estimate was done quickly and they answer the phone without any secretaries involved. HUGE plus. Service was scheduled just days later and they did an awesome job of power scrubbing our tile floors and hand cleaning the wood floors. Grout sealant was also applied. They did an excellent job in a few hours with a truck that has everything on board. Will use them again as needed!
Every person at Buffaloe Floors & Up that I interacted with in the process of getting new LVP flooring for my kitchen & den was friendly, professional & knowIedgeable. It was an overall positive experience from my first contact with Ronnie, the Sales Rep. to the completion of the installation. The years of operation of the company & the years of experience that Ronnie & the installers have in the flooring business was very reassuring to me. And Ronnie was always accessible either via phone calls or e-mails. Very professional! Pricing, warranties, variety & availability of products was a plus too. I would highly recommend Buffaloe Floors & Up to a friend as it was recommended to me
Adam was very helpful in making it easy to decide what I wanted in my home, work was done faster and looked better than what i expected. i paid around $4,000 for the new look and i can honestly say I'm impressed, who wouldn't want great quality work and low prices?! ,Thanks Adam!
We had obtained several bids, and decided on Delgado Wood Floors because of their responsiveness, knowledge and competitive pricing. Delgado Wood Floors exceeded our expectations by transforming our 19th century oak/walnut inlay floors to their near original beauty. The sanding, filling and sealing of our varied species of wood floors was completed in a very professional manner. The workmanship was excellent. The Delgado team was equally skilled when installing our LVT at laundry room and engineered wood at kitchen. We were especially pleased by the concientious nature of the team who returned multiple times to complete our kitchen floor after 2 or 3 occasions finding the humidity too high to complete the work. Delgado Wood Floors will be my go to from now on, and I will recommend them to my design clients with confidence
Outstanding work. Very professional and punctual. It all started with a visit to Houston Custom Carpets to look for carpeting for our new house. Edmund Leach answered all our questions and was very knowledgeable. He drafted out a plan and presented us with an outline. He assisted us in picking carpet style and color, granite counter top and back splash, as well as recess lighting that met our needs. During the middle of the project we decided to install flooring and gave Edmund a call and he came over the next day took measurements and drafted another plan for us. We loved it. The most amazing part of this remodel was the price. We had two ceiling fans, four recess lights, and a new deep sink installed. LVP was installed in the kitchen, entrance hall, master bath, and hallway bathroom. Carpeting through the entire house. The company mapped out a strategic plan and had the work go seamlessly. During the project materials form out state would not arrive as planned and Edmund quickly followed-up and found another dealer which was local and had the material the next day ready for installation. Mr. Edmund was a dedicated man. He called several times to check in on the project and even came over twice to check on the work, once on his day off, and answered any questions we had. We are very pleased and happy with the amazing work completed on our house from Houston Custom Carpets
Viking Floor Of Conroe did a great job on my flooring. They were very conscientious and made sure that we were satisfied with the flooring before they left. I felt that they were very kind and hard working people. I have not had any problems with the tile or the laminate coming up. I was very glad that I choose this company
Thy had to use Mini jack hammer on flooring which was 1/2 thick. The used a blower that sucked all the dust out the window. So it was a clean environment and clean floor.
Metro started with the kitchen and gutted it to the studs. Replaced electrical, floors, cabinets, counter tops, and back splash. Total remodel. They removed and replaced the tile floor in the sunroom and sanded, repaired where needed, and refinished hardwood floors throughout house. The Sheetrock was replaced and/or repaired where needed including tape, float, texture and paint. As with all major remodel projects there are always unexpected bumps in the road but Metro Flooring was always willing and able to work with us to smooth out the bumps. We are very satisfied with the final result. Mazen, the owner of Metro Flooring and Jack Herrington our project manager were great to work wit
I'll start by saying that I absolutely LOVE my new kitchen. By the time I started working with USA Cabinet Store, I pretty much had the design layout down. USA Cabinet Store was comparable to others price wise. USA Cabinet Store's designer was punctual and available to answer all my questions which wasn't true for other companies that I worked with and she really worked hard to help me find the perfect finishes for my kitchen. That's why I selected USA Cabinet Store over the others. My unhappiness with the job comes from the contractors they used to do the work. I feel that I didn't get their best installers or electricians in the beginning. Once round one of each (installer/electrician) screwed things up, they brought in someone new who corrected the mistakes and finished off the job as I had expected from the beginning. Going through a remodel is stressful enough without the added stress of bad workmanship. USA Cabinet Store did fix everything and in the end I'm happy with my kitchen, It's beautiful and functional
I contacted Mr. Diaz to get an estimate on laying bamboo flooring in four (4) bedrooms in my home. He was very prompt in responding and gave me an labor estimate to install my bamboo flooring within a reasonable time period. On the date the worked was scheduled, he and his helper were on time and immediately went to work to install my flooring. When they identified some issues with the installation, Mr. Diaz worked to ensure that the issues were resolved and the installation was professionally done. He was very helpful throughout the process and went the "extra yard" to ensure that all of my expectations were exceeded. My bedrooms are beautiful and the upgrade blends very well with the decor in our home. I would recommend Mr. Diaz to anyone who wants to install bamboo flooring in their home
