When we asked all our friends/family/coworkers for a good contractor recommendation all we heard were horror stories. But thank god for Angies List and Carmen! We got a few estimates for our job before hiring Carmen, but Carmen stood out as the most detail oriented and attentive contractor we met with by far. His quote wasn’t the *lowest* estimate we got, but it was definitely the best justified based on the time and attention he gave us in reviewing all aspects of our job and answering all our questions. His attention to detail and genuine care for the quality of work he does carried through our entire renovation. From the temporary shower he built in our basement (to use while our only bathroom was under construction) to the perfectly aligned tile in our shower enclosure - everything was expertly planned and executed. Carmen was great about communicating next steps as the project progressed and we felt confident about his work during the whole process. This was the second time we hired Willis. He did such a nice job on our kitchen three years ago, so we did not hesitate to hire him again. The job is done and we are very pleased with the results. We started with just a shower. We wanted to make it bigger and use the extra space we had. But we ended up remodeling the entire bathroom: bathtub, new sinks, painting. Willis was very patient with us and as always offered very nice ideas. It felt like he knew better than we did what we wanted our bathroom to look like. What was really nice is that he and his crew always cleaned up after they finish their work. This was very important to us as we have kids and they are all over the place. Given all the circumstances, the remodeling took much longer than we expected it to be, but we were willing to wait. It takes time to do the job properly

David's Improvements
David's Improvements gutted and renovated the bathroom in my WWII era house. Everything was mostly original and needed replaced. The walls and floor were concrete and the plumbing was buried in the concrete. He saved what he could and gutted and redid the rest, putting in a new floor, drywall, plaster and new paint on the walls, and tile and soap holders in the shower with a glass door, all new appliances and behind the scenes/under the surface things - plumbing, heating ducts, electricity. It looks beautiful and his workmanship is excellent. Everyone who has seen my new bathroom is impressed. I trust his judgement with helping me pick out what works best in the space, what is quality without being too expensive, and what is good for resale should I ever decide to sell the house. He puts 100% into each step of the process and knows what will work from his years of experience, and changes course when needed. It's hard to find a person you can trust with so much knowledge, experience and who takes pride in his work. I found this in David's Improvements and I am so glad! Joe is prompt and professional. Trustworthy. Friendly. Always came to job on time and prepared. We had him and his assistant install new tile in shower and floor, toilet, tub, fixtures, plumbing, frame out builders-grade mirror, new lighting above sink, and shower, paint walls. I chose all of the bathroom items and Joe installed them. I think the biggest hiccup of the project was the toilet I bought was not same brand of the tub. The finish of the whites were not exact match. I purchased another toilet so we had to wait on that delivery for a couple of weeks from Home Depot. Any time I saw that there was an issue with the work he did not have problem correcting. There was one tile issue around the tub that he was able to fix by adding more tile to walls. Additional bull-nose tile had to be purchased. We had to wait on tile shipment another week. He was able to place a niche in the shower using marble mosaic. I was worried how it would turn out as I did not have a designer with my project. End result looks great

Waited approximately 6 Months for Matt Fawley to start work. He worked about 4-5 hours a day for 1-2 weeks. Work was shotty at best. Most of what was done has bee replaced or redone.

We wanted to remove the bathtub in our 5x8 foot bathroom and install a walk in shower. Greg had installed a retaining wall and concrete driveway for us a few years earlier, so we were comfortable with his attention to detail and high quality of work. Greg came to our house, and listened to our desires. He developed a quote in a week or so. The quote included his labor and also estimates for new fixtures, ceramic tile, granite, glass doors, and furniture. 15K kind of shocked us, I am cheap, but we wanted a really nice shower. Greg's labor and miscellaneous materials was $8500. We picked and purchased all of the fixtures, cabinet, granite, and tile, with Greg's input and advice. We did not skimp, everything was high quality. My wife enjoyed the process. Greg and Bob worked Monday through Friday as scheduled and kept us informed of the progress and the upcoming phases. They worked hard, were very neat and clean, and always pleasant and professional. The entire process was about 6 weeks. The finished product is amazing, Better than we could have imagined. The installed all new plumbing, electric, lights, fan, switches, shower heads, granite vanity top, sills and seat, tile walls, floor, shower floor pan and even paint. The glass was installed by Rex glass. The quote ended up being pretty close, we ran over due to the items we purchased. Greg's labor price did not change. Our next project will include Greg

Our project was to remodel our small basement bathroom. It had a tiny 19 x 17 sink and vanity and a 3 foot shower stall. The existing stall was installed about 8 inches above the floor level so the inside height was about 80 inches at most. Our goal was to update to a larger vanity and larger shower. We sent out requests to several contractors but none were willing or able to take the project on. One of them who had very high Angie's List ratings could not accommodate our time frame but did refer us to Jamin at Laurel Craftsmen. One of the big issues with the project was that we live in Atlanta and had a small timeframe to work with when we would be in Pittsburgh. Jamin recommended that we open the basement floor and run the shower drain underneath giving us additional height in the shower at the same time warning that until demolition of the existing structure was complete there could be hidden issues. Anyone who watches HGTV knows this is always the case and ours was no exception. Jamin felt he could complete the project in 2 weeks but also stated that he is a perfectionist and it would not be complete until he was satisfied. After the project started we threw a curve when we wanted to move one of the existing walls to further enlarge the room. Did I mention that in doing so he had to also accommodate other existing drain pipes. Well he handled it with ease. After issues with non-level floors, an unknown floor drain, hidden damage from prior leaks, prior non-code plumbing, etc the project was complete only one day later than expected. We now have a roomy bathroom with a 4 foot shower with plenty of headroom, a full 30 inch vanity, a new efficient toilet, new flooring, trimwork, walls and storage. We could not be happier with the work Jamin did for us. We would highly recommend him (A++) for any projects you might have. Thank you, Jamin

Most recently I received an estimate from them on doing some re-plumbing for the Main bath which is being repaired/restored after a leaky pipe caused us to rip up the entire bathroom floor. We got an estimate from them of $6,000. Unfortunately, the insurance company was only paying $10,000 for the entire project (including repairing the damaged ceiling and beams downstairs) and I couldn't spend over half of it on the plumbing. I had to go with someone else - who did an adequate job but who was definitely less responsive and thorough than Kwiatkowski. They were also half the price. If you want the best and are prepared to pay for it - use Kwiatkowski. If you're on a budget, they may be too expensive. Price is the only reason I can't give them an overall rating of A. I am totally satisfied with their service. Unfortunately, their prices seem to keep rising and I'm not sure I can afford to keep using them

Tom is the man! Super nice guy, on time, good communication, amazing attention to detail. He used quality Sherwin Williams materials, has competitive pricing and knows what it takes to get the job done. if I was to hire a painting contractor for anything else, Tom would be the person I would call first. Don't expect Tom to be a unreliable, overweight guy that struggles to get on a ladder and complains the whole time he broke his hip back in 1969 after his 9th wife pushed him down the stairs for the 4th time; Tom is a young, military guy that has amazing balance and can get your project completed safely. I found him here on Angi's because I didn't have the nerve to get on a ladder the way he did, and so glad I did. You just never know what to expect from finding someone online and Tom was exactly who we needed

We are out of Milo's general service area but he agreed to come and take a look. We had already gotten our insurance money and a water damage mitigation firm, recommended by our insurer, had been on site to clean up the water damage. Milo began to look around and he was extremely thorough. He was very upset about black mold on the bathroom floor left by the mitigation company as well as that they had not opened up the kitchen ceiling to allow it to thoroughly dry and prevent any more mold. Milo went over our damage and resubmitted our claim to our insurer for the work that should have already been done by the mitigation folks (they were paid separately and directly by my insurer). Milo went to work, treating our house and problems as though they were his own. He was very thorough and VERY attentive to detail as well as not disrupting our house during the days he was here. Milo did not want dust from the kitchen work to permeate our house. Each day, in order to allow us use of our kitchen at night, Milo would put up a "bubble" of plastic tarps around the areas he was working and take them down when he was finished for the day!! A time consuming but very welcome job so we could eat at home each night. At the completion of the work, we were very impressed with Milo's knowledge of his craft as well as his acting as an advocate for us to show our insurer that there was more damage than the adjuster had written up and that the water mitigation company recommended by our insurer had NOT done what they needed to do. A broken pipe in the house was a first for us. We had no idea what we needed to have looked at nor just what should have been done by the water mitigation folks in order to do their job correctly. Milo came in and helped us get what was needed in order to insure that our home was sound again!! I would unhesitatingly recommend Milo Services to anyone needing work of this nature done, done correctly and properly compensated by their insurance company. Milo is a good man!!! He is very personable and will take the time to explain what he is doing and answer questions

It was a joy working with Bob who is the owner of Avalon Tub and Tile. He displayed exemplary customer service from start to finish. He showed up when he said he would and reported on time. He was even willing to come to the house one morning at 6:30 am before I went to work so I could explain the tile design I wanted on the walls. He was in constant contact with me and always took my calls. He gave a daily report on the work that was planned and called again at the end of the day to explain what was accomplished. Nothing asked of him was too much. He was always eager to please and willing to redo things if it wasn't to my liking. He stayed on schedule and finished within the time frame he promised. He offered to return after he finished the work to install a wall cabinet that was late in coming in. He cleaned up after himself and went as far as cleaning a portion of the carpet outside the bathroom door. I trusted him completely in my home as most of the work was done while I was at work. The quality of his work is great. He did a fantastic job. The bathroom turned out better than I dreamed it would. I highly recommend him without hesitation. Bob delivered a really outstanding bathroom renovation. We love it. We had some delays (not Bob's fault) due to the counter manufacturing and it was over the holiday season. Bob was really flexible and dealt with everything smoothly and with really excellent communication. The work was very high quality, he was timely each day and did what he said he would, he asked us questions along the way and provided options, and he dealt with changes and adjustments we made along the way. Great work at a reasonable price! Called the day before and Dan and his associate came out early the next day and provided an estimate to repair or replace the roof ridge vent. Both quotes were reasonable. Had another roofer provide an estimate an hour later and their estimates were double the price. Immediately called Dan back and he was able to fit me in his work schedule the next day. He came early the next morning and made the repair and sent me the photos of before and after the repair. Flawlessly! Mark and his team are amazing. Mark is responsive and his team of guys are very professional, considerate, and trustworthy (I gave them my garage code trustworthy). Mark is a bathroom for me 16 years ago (still has the same team of guys) and it still looks great. We recently had an issue with a shower (in a different bathroom), the whole thing was done in a week...fixed with the drywall looking good as new! Mark is the only contractor I would use for a bathroom or kitchen remodel.
