Franklin Electric

David did a great job installing a few electrical components with minimal impact! He seems to know what he's doing and was able to fix my flubbed attempts to change things out myself. Always responsive, shows up on time and gets the job done within his initial estimate. He was even able to figure out the weird doorbell situation at my house and run low-voltage wiring to install a smart doorbell

They provided a wonderful, professional estimate. The technician was good and set a realistic expectation of additional work that may have been needed with repairing a hole in the wall.

He caulked the kitchen counter and repaired an non ringing door bell on the first visit. He returned to repair a bedroom ceiling and then finished it the 2nd day, the color and finish matched perfect.

Went very well - Rich Was responsive, offered some ideas for me to try to solve the issues before he came out, followed up, arrived as scheduled (even called my wife's mobile instead of ringing the bell and waking the baby!) - very professional in every way. Understand and agree fully with the top notch ratings for Granite Electric

I like this company and the people who work for them. This just turned out to be an unfortunate undertaking. Attic baffle to hold back insulation was installed successfully. Doorbell project turned out to be somewhat of a debacle. The basic problem was that the electricians were not familiar with such a wireless doorbell system prior to my engaging them. The first electrician to come out misunderstood the whole set-up, wanted to run wires where wireless communications were doing the task, said a manual switch was needed where the "extender" was to be the activator, and debated with me for hours. He had to leave, but I informed him of the fact that my view was confirmed in my call to the 3rd level of tech support of the manufacturer (the 1st and 2nd levels weren't really familiar with the extender concept either). So a return visit by a 2nd electrician was planned, and he brought the solution of basically replicating the main chime box in the remote area so it too would ring when the doorbells were pressed. This happened to work because the 2nd box was close enough to all the doorbells to receive their signals directly. But this wan't really a correct solution because the purpose of an extender is to "repeat" a doorbell signal from the 1st main chime box to the extender, and have the extender activate the remote bells beyond the range of the doorbells. Also, for the remote sounding mechanism, instead of chimes I had originally wanted to use a clanger bell I had, already mounted, and had used with my older doorbell alarm set-up (now defunct). The idea was to use the extender to activate it, but that wasn't done, due to the need to power it with an independent power source, multiply illustrated in the user guide, but difficult. They were conscientious enough not to charge me for the 2nd wireless alarm system that they'd chosen as their solution, having been unable to make proper use of the extender I had already acquired. So all in all, I think this was just too challenging and novel. Perhaps the company should have declined to take on the job when I said it would require a very expert electrician.. I'm sure these electricians would have performed any traditional electrical task competently and quickly, and they both were very helpful and friendly

THE HOME IMPROVEMENT & REPAIR CO

I have written this up in detail previously. My experience with Richard Goldstein and his assistant was excellent. He is extremely capable, intelligent, and responsive. He appreciates organizing his work, if possible in advance, by knowing what you need, so a list is a very good idea. Of course, you will discover more items as you go along, and he can be helpful sorting things out. I still have projects to do, and I anticipate calling Richard when I'm ready

SOD Home Group
5.0
Did an almost complete, major remodel of the entire ~1600 sq ft house build in the 50s. It would have been impossible to live in the place during the remodel. So one of the criteria was that the bulk of the work would be done in 3 month. They managed to keep it to 3 month from move-out to moving back?on time. A major accomplishment for a project of this size. They came in and did the demolishing in less than a week. Worked Saturdays and sometime Sundays to meet the schedule and assigned as many people as necessary. Did most of the work with their own people but brought in contractors for some jobs. All very professional. Some of the details were finished after we moved back in. We kept finding small things after moving back we didn?t notice before and they and fixed all the things we mentioned. No cost overrun or surprises after the contract was signed either. Actually, quite the opposite. When we ran into a few problems, which you invariably do with bigger construction projects like this, SOD would immediately take steps to address the issue to our satisfaction (e.g. wrong color paint and a window). When there was a problem the responses was immediate. After moving in we had a bit of water running from a pipe coming out of the wall on the floor in the bathroom one evening. I called and they had a crew of 3 guys ringing the doorbell 20 minutes later at 9:00 in the evening. I have a detached Garage in bad shape as well which was not part of the project (quote), but they removed the siding and put on stucco and a new roof anyway. Also, additional lights (I have all LED recess lights) and bathroom fans were added later at no extra cost when I simply asked for it. Even fixed my shower faucets after all the work had been finished 3 month or so after we moved back in requiring to open the walls again. Something I had forgotten to ask for. SOD clearly showed they are an experienced company with a lot of know-how. Easy to work with. This is the company we'd like to work with again because they always covered our back with honesty and sincerity. They were easy to reach and responsive. And the online web site for communication and email works great as well. And I was really impressed with the quality of the work I can't say enough good things. I just know that we made the right choice! Hire these guys if you have a job to get it done. I would again

Dollens Electric Corp

Summary: Seems like good work was done but for an extremely high price. For a single family home, main breaker kept tripping. Contacted Josephine in front desk and was told Jason would come out between 10AM-12PM. I called at around 8:30AM same day as service. Jason arrived a little bit after 10AM. Soon after he arrived, another helper arrived who he asked me to let in. The job: Replace main breaker (100AMP). He had an extra in his truck which he installed to replace. He had to remove a small amount of insulation around the meter in order to check BUS and meter contacts. They also borrowed one of my tools to put the ring back on the meter retainer. The Good: 1. Electrician seemed to know what he was doing 2. Had parts available in his truck 3. Issue was fixed. The Bad: 1. For less than 1 hour of work and for a cheap replacement part (breaker) I was charged $400.00 2. I was told by Josephine that the electrician would go over the hourly pricing once he arrived and diagnosed the issue (which was a $74 charge). 3. Next thing you know, a bill of over $400 was presented to me. 4. I asked for an itemized invoice but was not given one. When I asked why it was so much higher than I expected, the answer was not clear. The fact is that work touch time was less than 1 hour and he really didn't need a helper. Why was I charged $400 for 1 hour of easy work

Brother & Brother Builders
5.0
Project: Full kitchen remodel, full 2 bathroom remodels, full rewiring (smart home) In short: full home remodel :-) We choose Brother n Brother after interviewing 10+ contractors as we found them very detailed oriented and upfront on various details during the first appointment itself. Ido was our original project manager and later Eitan joined the hands too and both of them were available throughout the project. Since we heard a lot of negative feedback about general contractors in Bay Area, we were a bit cautious to begin with and so started with full kitchen remodel project only. However Ido and Eitan did such a superb kickstart, we were impressed even before the actual work began but we still waited for a couple of weeks after kitchen work started and after seeing their professional work, caring attitude and attention to details, we end-up adding full remodel of both the bathrooms and later full electric project also (full rewiring with all the smart switches and outlets, adding recessed lights and ring cameras etc.). This was for recently purchased home originally built in 1960 and was not in superb condition. Brother n Brother made this home look like a brand new one. We did go through few hoops here n there, mostly because of delays in inspection or a couple of surprises due to very old flooring, plumbing line etc. Ido and Eitan discussed / provided various options for all such issues, and resolved tem in a timely manner and in a very professional way while staying on the budget. Any/all minor issues were taken care without even charging extra, even if they had to put more efforts / labor to resolve that. Both Ido and Eitan provided various help / consultancy in choosing the right design and also helped in buying all the materials (tiles, cabinets netc.) and picked them as well, this was all so hassle free experience. Overall they have provided such an amazing service throughout this period, they have become a close friend more than the project managers. Thanks you very much Brother & Brother for all your great work to remodel my home. We simply love living in our new home, feels so much like a brand new home

Cosentino’s All About Home Repairs
2.0
Consentino was so busy telling me how great he was the entire time that I was expecting a stellar job. My biggest problem is that he did not want to take the time to do the job right... must have had other jobs to do that paid more. Kitchen faucet: Asked me where I bought it then gave me attitude when I told him on-line. He did not bother to use silicone to seal the faucet or bother to install both bolts to secure it to the countertop. He also did not remove a plastic ring on the faucet that allows you to move it. How do I know? The faucet came loose within 3 months and when I removed it to repair it there was not a rubber seal, so water was leaking from counter top splashes 2. Only one bolt was installed... not sure what he did with the second one, but I had to buy a new one to secure the faucet. 3. When I lifted part of the faucet (it is one of those with the wrapped wire around the spout... it still had a plastic anchor on it from shipping... no wonder I could barely get it to turn. Door Bell: Didn't bother to install it correctly so all it did was go "thunk" rather than chime. Had another handyman come out to replace it as I thought I had bought a dud and he told me that Consentino needed to actually adjust the door bell button...something that he should have known. Screen Door; He did not want to take the time to install the heavier pet screen that I bought and complained the entire time. I also paid him to fix the door latch and align the door. That was ok
