Top EV Charger Installers Near San Francisco

I recently leased a new electric car for my commute woes and bought a level 2 fast charger from Blink. I needed this to be installed in my garage with its own dedicated 40 amp line. Blink recommended an installer who quoted over $600 for what was a fairly simple installation. I called Gentec for an inspection to get a second opinion. Jeremy from Gentec showed up promptly on appointment time and was very professional. Initially he asked me where I would like the charger head to be installed. I had a spot in mind but he went over more options on other spots based on the location of the panel and pros/cons and pricing for each. He carried an iPad with custom software to show me pricing, warranty and other details. Once I decided on the option, he sent me an email with the quote right from there. There was no calling up head quarters, haggling price, waiting for the quote etc. He also handed me a package that had info on some of their other services but interestingly had good dos and donts about some simple household maintenance. They are diamond certified for past straight 8 years. The quote was not only cheaper but he made me feel comfortable about the different options, took his time to survey the area and was not in a hurry to leave. The best part was he offered advice on city permit for a water heater that I had installed but the company had never scheduled an inspection (thanks Mr plumber I need to call the city now!). The package he handed also offered a 15% discount if I chose the SEP yearly plan for Electrical and HVAC maintenance (a value of $300 for 2 times a year visit which I think is good value considering the discount). I took a week to decide and had another contractor come in for a quote. I finally chose Gentec not only for the price but also for their professionalism. Jeremy had said that if I decide to go with them, it will be him who will be assigned for my job and any other job that I will have them perform from now on. This is subtle but important in my opinion - it not only develops a client relationship but also Jeremy will be aware of my electrical configuration so I dont have to explain to a new face everytime. On the day of the installation Jeremy showed up on time and had all tools needed for the job. 3 hours later I had a perfectly working charger in the most optimum spot. I had asked him to position the charger exactly next to the panel and centered along the same axis. I have not seen a contractor that has a better sense of aesthetics. He took all measurements and aligned it perfectly. I was watching over him at times and can say with confidence that the attention to detail was very high. He handled my charger like a baby making sure it had bubble wrap below it every time it was touching the floor. He plugged a new 40 amp breaker and drew a line from inside the sheet rock to come out to connect to the charger with a flex cable. Once he finished he gave me the chance to test and verify everything works while he cleaned up behind him. I am impressed by the job and more importantly their service. Gentec also uses low emission Ford Transit Connect trucks that Jeremy was passionate about to tell me. He showed how the ladder installation on the top had this easy custom pull-downs. I eventually went for their SEP plan and got a 15% discount. This was relatively a simple installation but I am confident that they will deliver on any job. I asked 3 electricians for quotes to install a 240V outlet in our garage for a car charger. Ted was the first to respond, come by to look at the site, and provide a quote. His price was reasonable, and he appeared professional and competent. This was confirmed when he came to do the work. He and his assistant came on time, worked efficiently, did a nice and clean install, and cleaned up before they left. He even installed the charging station on the wall, which strictly speaking was not part of the job. I couldn't ask for anything more. David was great! I just bought an electric car. A couple electricians said I would probably need to install a 200 amp panel since my 100 amp panel would not be sufficient. That would have cost me 6k to 8k. David came to evaluate. After looking at my panel and realizing that my central heat, cooking stove, hot water heater, and clothes dryer were all gas, he said it wasn't necessary. He rerouted a couple things and installed a dedicated 40 amp breaker in my panel. Then he installed the charger and ran the wires and conduit. Took about 3 hours. I found myself depending more and more on my electric vehicle to get around and the 120V charger was not cutting it. I decided to upgrade the charger and the supply to 240V-50A so I can turn around and charge much faster throughout the day. Brant was very responsive and happy to drive over to Morgan Hill in order to inspect my main panel and give me an estimate on the job. After explaining what I wanted and sharing the data sheet for the charger, Brant put together the job proposal and walked me through the details. Great! Dollens did a wonderful job. After my first call, Jason Dollens visited and we talked through some possibilities. This was a bit challenging as the charger that I originally wanted would have required a new electrical panel, and that wouldn't have been able to fit in our existing, outdated cut out in the garage wall. So Jason helped me think through a ton of options via email over the next couple weeks. We ended up settling on the simplest -- just installing a new 240V outlet inside the garage for a lower powered charger. Once we'd decided, Dollens sent out someone who arrived promptly and did a great job. I found Dollens extremely helpful and pleasant to work with from beginning to end. I especially appreciated the way Jason invested the time in helping me figure out the solution that would work best for our house. Sonny came on time, rearranged our breakers to make room for the new 220 breaker, ran the line, installed the required cutout, and installed the charger.
