A quick background: Sakai served as children’s court judge for Bexar County longer than most members of Gen Z have been alive (26 years). He’s taking the role of County judge after Judge Nelson Wolff announced retirement last year.

The ceremony is going on right now but officially Sakai became judge at midnight on New Year’s Day. The county website now reflects the new makeup of the commissioners court.

HAPPENING NOW: Bexar County is about to install as it’s first new county judge in 22 years. Sakai will head the commissioners court after winning the race in November.

There about 3,600 CPS Energy customers without power right now
CPS said in the tweet below that one outage was due to a downed power line
In an interview w CPS this week, a spokeswoman said high winds could cause outages and bucket trucks could not go up until the wind subsides

Crews entered a backyard to find a downed power line likely caused by nearby trees. Please know that to resolve this outage, climbing will be required.
