RICHMOND PLASTIC

From the first call to the company, they were helpful. Bill Flores was there to handle the estimate over the phone/fax and came over to take measurements and consult. Their office staff was very helpful and answered all our questions and concerns. The installer was on time and was able to troubleshoot a couple things that didn't fit. They even came back later that day to help us with another problem that occurred during a plumbing fiasco. We're very satisfied with their work

I used them and it was good. They had the formica pattern I needed. It was a discontinued style. They took the order over the phone. We got it all set up. I only had to go down there to pick it up and pay for it. It went very smoothly and the quality seems fine. They were competitive pricewise. They were on time

This business returned my call promptly, provided an estimate, and installed the countertop ten days later! They were courteous, professional, pleasant, and cleaned up after themselves. Then, to cap it off, they sent me a thank you card! I love these guys!

MONARCH SOLID SURFACE DESIGNS

Starting in the showroom, Jodi gave us a thorough explanation of the different characteristics of all the countertop materials. We met with her more than once to get questions answered. With this information, we were much more confident in selecting a countertop appropriate for us. Even though remodeling can be stressful, Monarch Designs made it as painless as possible with a replacement sink and temporary plywood countertops. All members of the team were very pleasant and easy to work with. We are very pleased with the finished product

He did a fine job installing my counter tops. It was cheaper to go this way, though not many people do it this way anymore. He initially came over to do an estimate. After I accepted, he took measurements and within days, I had my counter tops. I will use him for my projects in the future.

I hired this company based upon a personal recommendation, and was surprised at the both the below average quality of the workmanship and the rather slow response from the company to address several issues with quality of the installation. Although the company did ultimately resolve the issues we had a month or so after the installation, I would not recommend them based upon the quality of work and shortcomings in customer service we experienced

America's Dream HomeWorks
5.0
From start to finish, the America?s Dream Homeworks team was incredibly professional, helpful, and friendly. From the first day, Mark and John, our head contractors, would take the time to answer all our questions (in person, via phone, and via email) and walk us through each step of the remodel project. Our ADH construction team, Vlad, Vasily, and Peter were hardworking and responsible. They always took the time to clean up at the end of the day too. Lana managed our billing/account very smoothly. The entire team was very responsive to our questions and concerns. Our remodel project consisted of a complete kitchen remodel (demolition, electrical, plumbing, cabinetry, finishes), removing one wall between the kitchen and dining area, a full bathroom remodel (demolition, plumbing, electrical, finshes), re-carpeting one room, installing laminate wood on one staircase, and refinishing all the hardwood floors in our house. They completed the work on time and didn't try to fit in other small jobs between ours. The ADH team was very helpful with suggestions on materials and design elements for each project. In the kitchen, they installed Sensa granite countertops, Timberlake cabinetry, and Bedrosians floor tiles. In the bathroom, they installed Piedrafina marble shower walls and vanity countertop, Timberlake vanity cabinet, and Bedrosians floor tile. Everything looked great and we couldn't have asked for more. One thing that I appreciated about working with Mark and John is that there was no cost over-run. The quote at the beginning is exactly what we paid at the end of the project. I would suggest being certain and clear about what your vision is for the project and getting it documented in the contract. This being my first time doing a remodel, I realize that I was not as prepared with making decisions as I should have been. That said, ADH was very accommodating of change orders during the project and was very reasonable about pricing. This was definitely a pleasant experience all around. Thanks ADH!

Precision Built Construction

It went really well, the quality of the work was excellent. The one snag is that we did not have all the required materials on site for the work when he came, which led to serious delays. Once Jason gets you in his schedule, you want to have everything in place to complete the work. If not, you need to wait until he has another opening, which might take more than a month

COUNTERTOP COMPANY THE
4.0
The project went really well. We placed our order at the store in Rockville, then a guy came out to measure (very thorough), then two weeks later the installers came. Finished product looks great. The only issue I had was with the sales staff. I think our salesperson (Sylvia) left half-way through the process. Her replacement (I don't even know his name), was basically non-existent. We had to send multiple faxes to confirm the order, there was zero follow-up from the store after making the appointments for the measurement and installation. One-third is due at order placement, measurement and installation. Well, the measurement and installation teams had the wrong amount, easily cleared up, but it took a phone call to fix it. Other than the corporate/sales side of the process, the workmen were outstanding

THE INSTALLATION WAS DIFFICULT (DIMENSIONS, ETC) BUT THEY DID AN EXCELLENT JOB. HE GAVE US ADVICE ON HOW TO CLEAN IT, PROTECT IT, ETC. WE WERE ALLOWED TO SEE THEIR MANUFACTURING AREA WHEN WE WERE TRYING TO PICK OUT THE COUNTERTOP PATTERN, IT WAS GREAT TO SEE SOME OF THE SAMPLES IN A LARGER FORM.

Angels remodeling
5.0
I was impressed from the first meeting. Angel arrived when he said he would and gave an estimate later that day. His crew was professional, friendly, experienced and hard working. They zoomed through the list of things I wanted done and even suggested great alternative ideas for the updates I wanted (such as buying a standard sized patio door and walling in the extra foot of space instead of waiting a month for a custom door) I would recommend Angel and his team wholeheartedly

FLOORCRAFT CARPET ONE

Pretty well. They are all very nice people to deal with, but they do get busy and can be difficult to get to by telephone. Once you get a sales person in the store, they will give you all the time you need. They are quite knowledgeable and helpful, but even when you leave a message on the voice mail, it may take days for you to get a response. I'm giving them a B instead of a C for responsiveness because I like them and would go back there. I'm remodeling both my kitchen and bathroom at the same time, and so went there at least 10 times during the decision making process times. While writing this I recall at least 3 times that I've left phone messages for my particular sales person and they never got back to me. Once in the store, my person wrote down in his notebook questions I had that he was going to get back to me on, samples that he was going to order for me, and I never heard from him again. So if you are not at the store, you need to call them a lot before you get a response. In the store, they are great. Having said this, I realize that even though I'm being truthful about my experience, I don't like giving them a negative review and I would go back to them again. Maybe I was being impatient and they were going through a particularly busy time

Gavin and his crew did an outstanding job with our remodels! From the onset, Gavin was highly professional and responsive in all dealings with us. We were impressed that the crew showed up on the days scheduled, and how rapidly the work moved along. They worked fast and efficiently and were always friendly, professional and courteous, even cleaning up after themselves at the end of each day. It's obvious that GS Construction takes pride in their work and it shows in the finished product. We are extremely happy with the work they've done and will continue to recommend them to our friends and family

Don came out and gave me a fast quote on some work I needed in a common area in our 4-unit duplex. I needed drywall, painting, small laminate work. He told me he would put a vent at the top and bottom of the room that housed a water heater and also make the light "timed" so as to not waste electricity. He did not provide that. He also failed to replace the light switch plate/cover. Totally left the job incomplete. If you walk into that room now, you'd say...."oh so you're having some work done on the common area huh?" Never finished the job. Had no problem cashing the check. He seemed trustworthy, but no. Live and learn I guess. Doesn't anybody value their own personal work anymore? Does anyone believe in basic integrity? I've been looking for someone like that in Oakland since 2012. So far I have only found 1 plumber and 1 handyman. Beware of what he tells you and that the job is completely finished before you pay him

HOUSE OF INTERIORS
4.0
To be clear, the ratings reflect an average of 3 separate jobs in which jobs 1 and 2 went relatively smoothly. These jobs were performed on a townhouse I formerly lived in Alexandria, VA. I worked with Mojy (the owner) and he is a very entertaining and personable guy. For job 1, Mojy installed Brazilian cherry hardwood on the 3rd level of a townhouse. This was in 2004, so I relied on a recommendation from my realtor to hire Mojy. I visited his store, picked out the wood, Mojy gave me a fair price, I gave him a house key and the job was completed smoothly with good quality. For job 2, based on job 1, I hired Mojy to install laminate on my bottom level around 2006. This job also went smoothly with only minor hiccups. For instance, Mojy assured me that the workers would seal inject some glue into some air pockets I felt in the foyer and I had to ask the workers to do this. Again, no biggie, and the job went smoothly and was good quality. For job 3, this job was in the summer of 2013 and was a lot more complicated as it involved moving a kitchen wall and a kitchen island and refinishing floors and had a lot more problems. I left for vacation a couple of weeks so that the floors and handrails could be refinished with a dark expresso stain. When we returned there were a lot of expresso stains on the walls and there were gashes in the walls near the handrails where the sander apparently went into the wall. For the granite install, I had made it clear from the beginning that the priority of the job was to reconfigure the kitchen island, but when the day of the install came a subcontractor crew came and refused to move the island. Additionally, the quality of the granite install wasnt the best (e.g., glue for sink was installed sloppily, cabinet frame was damaged during install and there were slight cracks in the granite). To make a long story short, after a couple of months of back and forth, Mojy had the granite crew come in and redo the sink, smooth out the cracks, apply some caulk to space between granite and wall and reanchor the cabinet frame where it was damaged. Mojy also had a guy come in to redo the drywall and repaint the areas where a wall was removed and knocked off $1k for all the staining on the walls which I had to get repainted. So would I hire Mojy again? If I was doing floor work, for sure. For the other stuff, I would be a little hesitant. The pricing for granite is pretty reasonable, but I believe he may just be a middle man. For the kitchen wall/island, this is where we ran into the most problems and probably wasnt his companies area of expertise, I eventually had to hire a carpenter/electrician to finish out the island properly. Additionally, when I dealt with his company, I was mainly dealing with Mojy and he is a very busy guy so sometimes I wish there were 2 or 3 other Mojys he could delegate to so that issues could be resolved more promptly. In the end, Mojy did fix the problems and I ended up with a beautiful kitchen and I dont know to many remodels that dont have their fairshare of headaches

Their work was excellent. They did make a mistake on the size of the doors for the cabinets. However, they immediately went back and had the doors done right. The only negative thing is, they had one man assigned to it and he was doing multiple jobs, so he wasn't necessarily here every day and I didn't particularly like that fact. It took a little longer than we thought because they had this one man doing multiple jobs and he wasn't here full time everyday. Otherwise, the materials they used were first class

I am so grateful to Jay Cool, and every one of his people who worked on my home. My condo got severely water damaged by upstairs neighbors while I was out of town, and they didn't call or contact me during the 5 days my home was wet. We had to gut ceilings, walls, and floors in both bedrooms and both bathrooms. Most people don't have this much destruction, but the damage to our home was severe because it sat wet for such a long time. Once the cleanup crew sent by the insurance had come and gone, my insurance tried to say the damage to my home was only minor, and that everything could be repaired for only $25,000.00. I was in a panic, and I needed an amazing contractor. Jay Cool has worked on other water damaged homes, so he knew how to format his estimate to show my insurance all the items that they had mistakenly not included in my cost of repairs, and the true cost of everything. He was able to show them items that the City of Mountain View Green Building Code requires, that the insurance would have cheated me out of if I didn't know any better. Though I interviewed many contractors with excellent business reputations, and all with excellent reviews on Angie's List, Jay Cool was the only one who was willing to help me argue with my insurance, and he reassured me that this was something he had done before and would be pleased to do again for me. Jay was there for me, just like he promised, and we got the insurance to admit that I deserved a lot more money. I actually needed more insurance coverage than what I had bought, so we got as much money as I was entitled to, but then we readjusted the plans for my home to control costs, and Jay helped me do that too. But the amazing part is that my home looks like we had a lot more money to spend than what we did. It's gorgeous!!! It's safe, clean, well built now, up to code, and beautiful. I wish I could post pictures to this review. Jay was able to recommend some different places where I could shop for tile, carpet, laminate floors (I like laminate), granite counter tops, and bathroom vanities. By shopping around and really taking some time, I was able to put together some great looking rooms while staying on my budget. But we spent money where we should, like using copper pipe for all the plumbing, and now for the first time ever, I have great water pressure in both showers. I feel good about it that we spent the money wisely. The people Jay sent to my home to do the actual work were all professional, friendly, and seriously good at what they do. They had to match texture in the living room where we had lost the bottom two feet of some of the walls, and they matched is so well that you would never know part of the wall used to be missing. The whole house got painted, and it looks amazing. The tile work in both bathrooms is gorgeous. And I love my new floors. As long as we had to do major repairs to my home, my husband and I decided this was the right time to install a washer and dryer. Cool's Custom did all the work to convert a linen closet to a laundry area with a stacked washer/dryer. They had to cut through concrete slab to run new plumbing, and the plumbing was all done with copper pipes so that it will last for years to come. They had to do the electrical work, Jay's electrician put in a new upgraded electrical panel. I love my laundry facilities that Cool's Custom did for me. Today Jay's guys were here for a couple of final adjustments, and the quality of the work done in my home was so high that I had trouble coming up with anything to adjust. There were just a couple of items Jay noticed when he came to do a final walkthrough, and that he decided he wanted done for me. So in a nutshell, Jay rescued me and my home, and I am 100% happy. A big thank you to Jay and everybody at Cool's Custom
