4/4 As feared by a coalition of digital rights groups, journalists, lawyers, doctors & internet companies, this law enforcement instrument could lead to #FundamentalRights violations. The formal adoption of the new tool will happen in the upcoming months.

1/4 #Facebook makes money from profiling users & selling them out to advertisers who micro-target ads at people to steal their screen time and attention. is suing #Meta for failing to respect her right to stop this invasion of her privacy by Facebook.
O’Carroll told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “This case is really about us all being able to connect with social media on our own terms, and without having to essentially accept that we should be subjected to hugely invasive tracking surveillance profiling just to be able to access social media.”

6/8 We've discussed how the field can work in a trauma-informed way. But much depends on philanthropy & funders' dynamics, often requiring the sharing of trauma & reproduction of harms.

2/8 🇳🇱 Janet Ramesar is a Dutch woman who lived with her son in The Hague. In 2015, Janet was put under investigation for social benefits fraud & her allowance was suddenly stopped. Despite her cooperation, she was ordered to pay back €40 000.
