They were prompt and fast. They provided a way to get temporary water during the replacement since we had children at home. They were very much aware of San Jose plumbing codes in order to pass inspection. I've used Roman's twice. The first time, about a year and a half ago, the water main from the street to my house had burst over the weekend. Water was running down the street at the rate of many gallons a minute. I asked around at work and Roman's was highly recommended. I called them Monday morning and they were out there right away. After their estimate, I told them I couldn't afford to pay in full on completion. I said I could pay half then, and the second half in two weeks. They said it wasn't usual, but they agreed and started right away, finishing the next day. One guy did the entire job. He did a professional job. He had to dig a trench without breaking my lawn irrigation system, and dig through a raised bed of dirt and stone, then under the sidewalk. He very carefully piled the dirt and lawn chunks on tarp, and put it back just as carefully. In a few months, the lawn looked almost like nothing had happened, and now, a year and a half later, you can't tell a trench was dug. As a bonus, while he was there, I asked him about a toilet that was leaking from the tank, which other plumbers had quoted me $200 to repair. He took a look and found it only needed two bolts to be tightened, which he did as a courtesy. After this kind of service, of course I called them again when I needed help with a busted refrigerator line in March 2013. Unfortunately, the part needed is a special part that they didn't have and couldn't order, but at least they got the busted line properly capped. Ben came out and gave me an estimate. The next day he was there. They dug a trench found the issue and replace the line with a new copper one. We had installed a do-it-yourself connector between the 1/4" copper refrigerator supply line and the pipe under the house. Magic Plumbing replace it with a soldered permanent connection. The supply changed from a slow drip to a full stream, just as we had hoped. It was a straightforward job in a 4 foot crawl space. They checked behind the refrigerator and found no problems, so they only did the connection. We are still negotiating with them to come back and fix it. They found problems with the incoming water line and the sewer and replaced both. So far it has cost me $14,000.00 and still is not done right. So I am expecting them to come back and take a look at it again. It went from an okay we are going to clean out the sewer line and then we have to remove the toilet to say this is a bigger job and it is going to cost at first $200 the $1800. Then they did a little bit more and then said they was going to have to completely dig a trench and get a permit from the city and dig everything up. It then went from $1800 to $14000.00 all in one day. In the process the took the toilet off my bathroom pedestal and when they put it back on they broke the toilet. Flooded my bedroom rug and I had to go buy a new toilet and have them install it and it still doesn't work properly. The main reason I am upset with them now is they keep promising to come and do the fixes and don't show up. This is the second appointment they have stiffed me on. Juan came out to review our project prior to the demolish of our old bathroom and was very practical in his recommendations on how we could save money and the pros and cons of where we wanted to install new fixtures. When his workers, Sam and Victor came out to do the work, they were very professional and polite and were good at asking where we wanted things, worked with the challenges of a demolition in progress and cleaned up each day that they were on the job. When we asked them if they could coordinate their work with the timing of the general contractors, they were very flexible. We also wanted to have our pipe dimension upgraded and a dedicated waterline for irrigation installed. Despite their busy schedule, they made the effort to come to our home in the evening after working a full day in order to help keep our general contractors on schedule.
