1. They broke my water filtration dispenser more so than before they arrived. Water used to come out at a slow rate, it now only comes out sometimes at a slow rate. 2. They flooded my kitchen 3. They scratched my hardwood floors 4. They did not properly diagnose the problem, closed the service request because they told KitchenAid I need to replace the water filter to solve the problem. THREE DIFFERENT BRAND NEW WATER FILTERS BY THE RECOMMENDED BRAND DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. A fourth water filter will not solve the problem. RUN DON'T WALK AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY

We bought a refrigerator on Craigslist and it didn't work when we got it home. We called several appliance repair shops, and it sounded like very bad news: we probably needed a new compressor, which was going to cost us $300 to $500 plus the service call. Tom came by, asked if the refrigerator was under warrantee. I had no idea, but assumed it wasn't because we'd bought it used. He checked, turned out it was under warrantee and it didn't matter that we'd bought it used, the entire repair was covered. I'm sure it took a bundle of paperwork on Tom's part, but the repair cost us absolutely nothing and now the refrigerator works great. He saw that we're in the middle of a remodel and gave us a great tip: don't let your refrigerator sit unplugged for very long, newer compressors can't handle it and tend to stop working, which is probably what happened to ours. I don't think any of the other repairmen we talked to would have ever checked to see if there was a warrantee. We were beyond thrilled with Tom

GENERAL REFRIGERATION SERVICE COMPANY
5.0
My KitchenAid french door refrigerator began leaking water from time to time about two months ago. I did a lot of research on the Net and managed to narrow down what the problem probably was. I still had 6 months to go on the warranty, but the warranty company had only one company that they used for KitchenAid repairs in my area. I researched that company and found that they did not have good reviews. So I checked Angie's List and found Gary at General Refrigeration. When I called him, he asked me to describe the problem and he was at my door in less that two hours. He knew from my description of the problem what parts were needed and brought them with him. (I'm happy to say these parts were just what I had also found described on my Net searches.) He installed the replacement part in less than an hour. Then he noticed that the coils could use a cleaning and showed me how to do that in the most efficient way for this model. Knowledgeable and professional service in every way. I give Gary and General Refrigeration highest marks

LEWIS APPLIANCES

I called Lewis Appliance at 7pm on a Friday night when my refrigerator seemed to be overheating. Chris, the owner, was getting ready to end his day, but he agreed to backtrack into the city to help me out. He arrived even faster than he said he would, and fixed the problem in less than an hour. He was polite and seemed extremely honest. Overall, a very pleasant experience. I will definitely call him for any future repairs

SKS APPLIANCE REPAIR
5.0
When my vintage Kitchenaid dishwasher stopped getting water I checked Angie's List and chose SKS. When I got voice mail, I left a message describing the machine and problem in detail. I got a very detailed return message from "Kim". She explained the $99 charge to come out and said they couldn't guarantee they could fix it as they couldn't guarantee availability of parts, because how old my dishwasher is. She also said I might want to check prices on-line for new dishwashers, because even if they can fix it, something else may soon break, and I should consider if buying a new one makes more sense than repairing it. I was very impressed that she gave me advice and possibly lose a customer! I decided I'd try to see if the part was available. The parts store said I need to bring in the part for them to match. I tried to remove the valve (flooding the kitchen floor in the process) and when I got it half off I found 3 wires (a black, white and ground) hanging loosely. Apparently while I was removing the screws holding the valve to the water pipe, these wires were falling one by one off the screws holding them! I noticed corrosion debris in the valve and thought this may be the problem. So I suctioned out the debris but couldn't test my handiwork because I didn't know which wire went to which screw and I was afraid of frying the part if I got it wrong, especially if it was irreplaceable! So I called SKS again and talked with Kim explaining the whole sad story. I told her I needed them to come to re-attach the wires correctly so we could test the water inlet valve and see if it would now work properly or if not, replace it. But the important thing was the wires need to be attached correctly. "Steve" came on time and when I showed him the dangling wires he looked at me blankly and said "I don't know where they go." I replied, "But that's why you're here!" He looked closer and determined that the wires had never been used (it was a converted portable dishwasher he said). He promptly removed the valve, saw it was bad but didn't know if he could get the part. I said I'd wait while he tried. He left all his tools and went off, coming back within an hour with the new part which he quickly installed and it works perfectly. I decided to repair, not buy new, because we have the old REAL Kitchenaid, made out of metal not plastic and which is made to last! Reading the on-line Kitchenaid Forum site convinced me. After complimentary comments Steve made about this dishwasher as he serviced it, I think I made the right choice. We'll see. After the first shock that Steve said he wouldn't know the correct wiring without the factory diagram, I was very pleased with the work. Steve and Kim both have my vote of confidence and I'd call them again

Excellent experience! Phoned approx 40 minutes after I sent email request and had a technician here the next day. They even called me back after researching my specific dishwasher model to let me know the parts costs run higher than normal so I didn't have sticker shock when the technician provided an estimate. Technician was prompt and very professional, provided a repair estimate after a detailed inspection, had the correct parts with him, and completed the repair efficienctly. I highly recommend this company

J & H Microwave & Appliance

Scheduling through the KitchenAid website was extremely easy, and J and H's confirmation was very professional. So, from the start, we were hoping for a good experience. Of course, we were worried it would be expensive -- these things are kind of specialty stil... Overall, the experience was extremely positive. There was a very minor miscommunication on appointment time, but I'm still giving them all A's because they were so polite. George, the repair tech, arrived and quickly went to work. We feared that there was a motor gone bad (the error code indicated a motor problem,) so we were expecting it would be a $500+ job. George quickly determined that the root cause was calcium build up (our water is loaded with it) and set about cleaning up both drawers. He then explained how to combat this, and give us two bottles of a special cleanser to use every three months. Whole visit was less than an hour, and George was very thorough in his explanations. He made it clear that J and H honors follow up within 12month with only a $20 call fee, so it made 100% sense not to replace the motor unnecessarily. He explained that if the motor were to go out, we'd only have to pay the $20 plus part. He was confident that removing the calcium build up should do the trick. That evening the cleanser runs finished and both drawers were back in action! What a great experience. We definitely recommend J and H to anyone with KitchenAid. Or, for that matter, any brand J and H covers

LP Appliances Services

It was a great experience. We just bought the house so we're still discovering all the quirks but having the dishwasher leak on the first use was pretty annoying with the frequency we need to use it. I called Monday morning and LP came out within the hour. He had to get one part and the whole repair still only took about an hour. He left the work area spotless and was very nice throughout. This will be the first call I make whenever I have any problems with a large appliance

Tech showed up a few minutes early, and listened to my description of the problem. He put down a protective mat to avoid any possible floor damage, looked at door and was immediately able to determine the problem - and it wasn't a broken spring as I had thought.. He pulled the unit out several inches, corrected the problem and reinstalled the unit. He was very courteous and friendly and very knowledgeable about our dishwasher. The price was exactly what I was quoted on the phone when I made the appointment. I will use J and H Microwave and Appliance for any future appliance issues

They were nice enough getting an appointment set and even calling to move up a couple of days when a spot became available. The tech twice incorrectly diagnosed the problem as a broken compressor, requiring them to order an expensive part that took a while to come in and then ~1/2 day to replace it. The work was covered under warranty, but I understand the repair is about $900. The first time the repair worked for a week, the second time it worked for two weeks. Despite two failures, they arrived a third time to diagnose without diagnostic equipment and couldn't do anything. KitchenAid referred for a second opinion but couldn't find anyone else in the area to service the fridge and had me find someone to repair it. The contractor I found, diagnosed the problem in less than an hour and fixed it the same day. In the end I spent most of 2 months without a working fridge, and they charged me a $90 service fee and KitchenAid a couple thousand dollars for the privilege

Otto's Appliance Service, Inc

As I stated above, the whole job went well from start to finish. Both the person who set up the appointment and Dave were very pleasant, courteous, and knowledgeable. When I made the appointment, I was told that Dave would be the service person and what time he would arrive. During the service, I learned that my KitchenAid washing machine was made by Whirlpool. I also learned that I will NEVER purchase a rug with rubber backing again! Or, if I do, I will launder it at a commercial laundry. (It has taken me longer to complete this report than it took to repair my washing machine.

GENERAL REFRIGERATION SERVICE COMPANY

Gave me some straight forward honest advice over the phone. Unfortunately I have an expensive built in model that he tries to stay away from because they are trouble. Gave me a quick diagnosis and was able to describe the exact problems I noticed just by telling him a couple to things. He have me suggestion of who else works on KitchenAid to call. If I had a model that he serviced I would definitely call him. He seemed very straightforward, honest and generally very helpful

I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THE SERVICE. THE REPAIRMAN WAS POLITE AND KNOWLEDGABLE. HE KNEW THE VARIOUS MAKES AND MODELS OF MICROWAVES AND ADVISED ME ABOUT FUTURE PROBLEMS. ('KITCHENAID MOVED THEIR MANUFACTURING TO KOREA THE YEAR YOUR UNIT WAS MADE AND STARTED USING A LOT OF PLASTIC PARTS. NEXT TIME IT BREAKS, IT'S PROBABLY NOT WORTH FIXING.') WHILE HE WAS HERE I HAD HIM LOOK AT MY ICE MAKER. HE SHOWED ME HOW THE TEFLON COATING WAS WORN OFF AND REPLACED THE UNIT, WITHOUT CHARGING FOR ADDITIONAL LABOR. HE HAD ALL THE PARTS REQUIRED FOR BOTH REPAIRS AND COMPLETED THEM IN LESS THAN AN HOUR. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO MY FRIENDS

De Anza Appliance
4.0
I called De Anaza as they are the KitchenAid authorized service folks. They came out promptly and gave me an estimate, at which time I fell out of my chair. It was $1900 even though the parts were under warranty (about $800 worth). As this was so expensive I got another estimate from a smaller company. His estimate was less than but included the cost of the parts, I was shocked. I then tried to have the warranty parts send from KitchenAid which they would not do, which was very frustrating, as the repairs would then have only been $900 if I got the parts for freeunder warranty. I felt locked in and frustrated. I talked to De Anza and they talked about their extensive training and certification of their service men. I also got them to knock off a little bit off the estimate (specifically they charge for solder and misc parts for $200, which seemed like something that should be part of a $1900 repair. In the end I got them down just below $1700, the repairmen were very professional and knowledgable and I am very happy with the work done. So I recommend De Anza as they are good, experienced and professional, but as a larger company they are more expensive, so get a second opinion
