SDI Insulation is one of the best companies I’ve worked with. Everyone there (i.e. Kris Khoury, Steve Pearce) are professionals, punctual and responsive (to email and phone). However, I think the true test for customer service is when something actually goes wrong. During the wall insulation, one of the interior walls cracked from the blower pressure. Unfortunately, we didn’t notice this until after SDI left our house. When we called to tell them, they promptly sent Steve out to take pictures and schedule the dry wall contractor and painting contractor to come out to fix it. Finally, they were also very helpful about sending us all the necessary documentation to claim the PGand E rebate and the federal tax creditsshow more

I was conveniently off work on the day they came. I thought it would be really loud, but the insulation blowing in sounded something like rain. We received 3 or four quotes and Universal was one of the two lowest prices. What made the difference for us is that their quote included helping to clear/remove some things left in the attic by the previous owner of the house. They were very professional and very complete. The job was done in approximately 4.5 hours and we are pleased with the work. I gave them a B only because there was a period of a few weeks when I couldn't get anyone on the phone whenever I tried to call to schedule the quote. After I was able to get in touch with them, they were very responsive and the process moved efficiently. These guys are as good as it gets. The owner, Dan, is a super nice guy as was the job foreman, Celso. They gave a great price, and were HONEST when it turns out that certain work was not needed after they started the job and were able to have a fair, rational discussion when we thought a square footage estimate was off due to some inaccessible parts of the attic. Most of the job went ok. One wall is very shallow due to the fact a medicine cabinet is embedded into the wall from the inside. When the workers arrived, I showed each of the two workers the medicine cabinet area separately, and pointed out that they should not drill in the vicinity because it would be too easy to drill through the back of the medicine cabinet. The cabinet is located less than two feet from the bathroom window, and is easy to locate with simple measurements. The workers drilled through the medicine cabinet, and blew cellulose into the bathroom and kitchen. I called the owner and told them what happened. They sent over a so-called foreman to clean up. The foreman spent about 30 minutes doing a shoddy clean up job which took me an additional 1.5 hours to clean up after. Not only did they demonstrate poor workmanship, but a lousy professional attitude. The owner tried to compensate me with a measly $50show more

I got an estimate from three providers, all of whom were competent, professional and knew their stuff. I selected All Seasons over McHale and Bay Valley Insulation, but there were no red flags from either of the three. After Mark's estimate scheduling was easy. They estimated the work to take begin at 9am and complete about 2pm. Joel and Tony arrived promptly on time . Everything went smoothly. They removed some curious items the prior homeowner had left in the attic eaves (carpet padding, pieces of wood, etc.). There was attention to detail and my house was kept clean with tarps and meticulous clean-up. The garage is ready for me to put up drywall. They left some extra material; just in case. At 2:08pm Tony and Joel packed up the truck and left. Everything was completed and I am very happy. There was no attempt to sell any other products and services. The estimator did a great job. He took his time and was willing to answer all sorts of questions, both relating to the job and with other home energy issues. The crew arrived a few minutes late but went right to work. Overall the work was done quickly and (from what I know of these types of projects) correctly. However, we were not warned that doing the job from the inside would involve vast quantities of dust. We had pulled furniture away from the walls, and they covered some things with drop cloths, but overall the dust and cellulose debris was everywhere. I was also under the impression that they would strive to minimize the number of holes drilled in the walls by locating the studs, but in practice they just drilled lots of holes. Bottom line; price was fine, overall work quality (not counting cleanliness) was OK, but next time I'd be better prepared for the dirt or have them do the job from outsideshow more

Everything was fine. I thought it was a little more expensive, but I have not shopped. I think that they would probably be more thorough than most, and that added to the cost. They were going to seal around every little pipe and do all that stuff up in the attic, which most people would just blow in insulation and leave. They were on time, and they were pleasant. Initially there was some confusion, because I understood their services to include blow-in wall insulation. But once we determined that they do not do that sort of work, we settled one insulating the floor in a part of the house that is a little farther from the central heater than other parts. Insulating the exterior walls of our two story, 1700 sq ft house, involved drilling holes between each stud, blowing in insulating material, plugging the holes, spackling over the holes, priming and finally painting the holes. Two man crew was very efficient in setting up scaffolding and then doing the work described. We got a chance to see what the insulation looks like inside the wall when the force of the insulation popped out a built-in bookcase that was not secured. Its a solid blanket of insulation, filling in the entire space. Very impressive. The results have been very noticeable. The house feels more comfortable, and the heater turns on less frequently. We should have done this years ago. Last part of the project was to blow additional insulation into the attic, which went very quickly. Overall, the project took 2 very long afternoons/evenings to complete. It makes a mess around the outside of the house, but they did a good job of cleaning up each dayshow more

I called SDI and was connected with Andrew Schwartz who set up an appointment for the estimate. Andrew showed up on time and was very helpful. He emailed me their estimate the next day. I mailed the contract with my deposit check and got another email with the date and time they wanted to do the work. I picked another day and SDI agreed. At the scheduled date and time, the crew showed up and did the work. They took precautions to avoid any dripping or other damage and it took about 2 hours in total. My tenants called to say it was cold in their rentals which we'd found to have very little insulation (previous rehabber didn't do what he said). I called Dave for an estimate which he gave over the phone once he knew the dimensions. Clogged all soffet vents-failed to install dams to keep vents from getting covered. Cut a 110 volt ectrical circut when borring blowhole. Tried to blow in insulation a room that already had Fiberglass insulation. Reluctantly returned to correct air vents to attic only when I advised that payment would be withheld until correction completedshow more
