Troyer Transformations
5.0
We have been very satisfied with the work of Troyer Transformations from the initial consultations to final project completion. During the process of selecting a contractor to perform the work, we were still deciding on the exact look and style we wanted to go with. Samuel was very helpful in talking us through the process and showing us several options including meeting with us at our house multiple times to review samples and arranging for a visit to a previous client's home to see the stain color we were considering for our cabinets. We initially planned on replacing our existing granite counter tops with a different granite but he introduced us to quartz and with the final style we settled on, the quartz became the perfect counter top choice. To help decide, Samuel accommodated multiple trips to the Cambria slab locker to look at the combination of our cabinet, counter top, paint and flooring choices. There were multiple options provided along the way to upgrade various aspects of the kitchen such as options for kick molding and cabinet end finishes but the options were never oversold or pushed. The ones we chose (combining multiple drawers, built in trash/recycle bins, expanding door opening) provided some nice upgrades and improved the overall appearance. Quotes were provided up front and any questions were answered as to what was and was not included. Accommodations were also made to allow for specific hardware we selected for the bar counter to allow for hidden floating brackets. Once the construction process started, progress was steady and there was good communication of who would be at the house each day and what would be accomplished. Each day the kitchen was cleaned up well and the tools were collected. We had our hardwood floor refinished at the same time and care was taken to protect it from any damage during the cabinet and counter top work. All members of the crew were courteous and willing to explain any questions about the process or just to have some casual conversation. The quality of the work in every aspect was excellent and where we spotted the rare condition that needed some extra attention, they were prompt and thorough at addressing it. The woodworking and finish on the cabinets was at a craftsman level as was the installation of the Cambria counter top. The seams were crisp and clean and all of the dimensions came out well. One section of counter top and a couple cabinet doors arrived not as ordered but all corrections were made within a couple weeks and did not impact the overall project. We were initially not sure of the technique used by Troyer to reface the existing cabinet surfaces with 3/4" solid wood and replace the doors/hardware/boxes, compared to completely replacing the cabinets, but the final product was beautiful and actually offers advantages to replacing. A single piece of wood was able to be used for each section of cabinets which creates a much more cohesive look compared to seeing the joints from the individual cabinets. It also effectively extends the cabinet by 3/4" which is just enough to provide additional clearance for slightly oversized dishware or cookie sheets. Overall, we had a very positive experience and would feel completely comfortable recommending them to anyone we knew who was committed to a kitchen remodel and wanted high quality work done

Wow...we were so pleased with the whole experience from start to beautiful finish. Hans listened to what we had in mind and to the price range we felt would work for us and followed through with appropriate cabinet choices. Our visits to the showroom location were also positive, with great service from Andrea. We stayed within our budget and were exceedingly grateful for the professionalism and timely completion of the delivery and completion of the project. We have him to thank for the help with knobs and granite countertops at a reasonable price as well as a recommendation for a contractor (PalaceAid) which was an equally positive experience. I highly recommend this company. What a complete pleasure

HOME REMEDIES
5.0
We are happy with the work that Doug and Scott from Home Remedies did on our home. They are prompt, pleasant, professional and dependable. They show up consistently at the time when they say they will be there, and are some of the hardest working people I have seen. Even our neighbor (who sometimes observed them them from his porch) commented to us on their dependability and work ethic! I felt comfortable having them in my home. Having them around actually was a pleasure, and they were very kind to my family, including our little daughter. They did good work, and in the instances where I wasn't completely satisfied with something, they were responsive and made it right without complaint. Scott did the majority of our project, with Doug pitching in as needed (and to do the painting). They make a good, balanced team because Doug's strength is keeping things on schedule, and Scott's is attention to detail. I felt that they were looking out for the best interests of our project and our pocketbook. I thought we were going to need to have some expensive new custom kitchen cabinets made to match existing, historic ones that we were keeping. (Home Remedies does not make custom cabinets or custom doors, although they did make wood trim that matched the original trim in our old house.) However, Scott suggested that I buy ready-made, stock cabinets onto which he could install custom doors that match the old ones. He gave me the name of someone who makes custom cabinet doors at a very reasonable price. We followed through on his cabinet suggestions, which resulted in a beautiful end product and saved us over $5,000! As for the scope of the work done, a lot of the work was somewhat cosmetic because we did not change the footprint of the rooms or the location of windows, doors, sink, stove, etc. In the family room, everything else was gutted down to the studs. The main work there was installation of new windows, new doors, new drywall on the ceiling and walls, new trim and moldings, updated outlets, baseboard heaters, a new floor, and building a wall and frame to accommodate a new pocket door. In the kitchen, they installed a new hardwood floor, a portion of new cabinets that they detailed to match the existing ones that we were keeping, new outlets, constructed new shelving in existing cabinets, new lighting, a slide-out trashcan under the sink, a new sink and faucet, a new tile backsplash (Scott's tile work is perfection), all new cabinet hardware, a stove hood/fan, and changed the swing direction of our new refrigerator and modified a cabinet above to accommodate it. (We had a granite fabricator do our new countertops because the wholesaler of the granite that we chose would only work with certain large fabricators that specialize only in installing countertops.) Unlike large design/build firms, Scott and Doug ask the homeowner to independently research and choose most of the renovation materials, so I did all the leg work of researching and ordering most of the materials (eg. flooring, doors, light fixtures, faucet, sink, tile, etc.) with some advice from them here and there. This was time consuming for me, but saved us quite a bit of money in the long run compared to estimates we received from the larger design/build firms who walk you through this process and do the ordering for you. *Please note that the $18, 500 price listed below is mainly for labor, although it did include certain materials such as dry wall, wood trim, insulation, electrical supplies, and electric baseboard heaters

Fred has been my right arm for two years. I call him for small jobs, installing hardwood flooring, replacing cabinet hardware, painting....and you name it. He is always very you responsive, very fairly priced and pleasant on top of it. I don't know what I would do without him. He is THE best. If there is a job he can't do, he has always helped me find the person for the job

Completed project in a timely manner. The entire experience was excellent from start to finish. The company was very professional, gave suggestions throughout the entire project.. They explained each phase of the project in detail, what would be done and how long each phase would take. Their communication was outstanding always making sure I was happy with their work. They were willing to change something if need be, with no extra cost to me. I felt very comfortable leaving my home while the work was being done.. They were organized, very neat and always cleaned up before leaving for the day. I have already referred them to family and friends

It couldn't have gone better. Amber Harmon created an amazing first floor layout that took a very small space and used it to its fullest potential. She helped us select beautiful cabinets, hardware and lighting, all at a fair price. Our contractor Shawn Craddock and his team were thorough and efficient, and were very focused on delivering a quality job. Our remodel was actually completed early, and we couldn't be more happy with the finished product. I would absolutely recommend Elite for your home project, and I'd use them again in a heartbeat

We had a great experience with Columbus Cabinet Coatings. Mike was very friendly, professional and the finished product looks outstanding. He kept his schedule to the day that he originally promised, and during the process continually checked with us to make sure we were happy with how it was going. He took a ton of pride in his word and really put a lot of effort into the small things like filling the gaps between the cabinets, fixing chips, straightened a full cabinet doors and pulls that were not installed correctly originally, etc. We would 100% recommend him, his work was outstanding and his prices were thousands cheaper than a few of the other estimates we had received

SemBro Designs

The best remodeling/contractor experience that we have ever had. We visited their showroom first and then had the designer visit our home. Ideas were presented that we had never considered and we had 3D drawings and a cost estimate delivered by the end of that same day. After a planning meeting with clear deliverables and expectations being set we committed and set a date. We used the time before the project start to review and select counter tops and cabinet hardware as well as selecting a back splash. We visited the showroom a number of times to look at samples and compare back splash samples. There was always someone available and happy to help. The project was planned out and scheduled with specific dates and activities and everything happened exactly according to plan on the exact dates. The entire experience exceeded our expectations and we were delighted with the results. Everyone at Sembros Design, from the designer to the demolition crew and installers is highly professional, knowledgeable, and skilled. And better yet, the cost was no more than the cabinet refacing quotes that we had received and we got new modern cabinets instead of a reface of our 30 year old cabinets

This is the second major project that Baker Basements have successfully completed for our family. The first being a finished basement completed in 2013. This year he was able to design and execute a remodel of our kitchen from start to finish. His team is comprised of highly skilled individuals who work to achieve the highest standards. Our kitchen looks superb! Phil does a wonderful job creating design details from photos or magazines. The kitchen included custom built-in bookshelves, pantry, kitchen cabinets, custom island, crown moulding, baseboards ect. I was able to purchase all appliances, plumbing fixtures, lighting fixtures and cabinet hardware on my own. Working with Phil allows you to have choices, unlike other large remodel companies. All of our cabinets & drawers are equipped with a "slow close" feature which is a must! Our cabinets are made of of solid wood that is lacquered for durability. Baker Basements & Closets will be our choice for years to come

Reasonable pricing - good value for price - high quality work. Work crews were great - arrived on time, protected surfaces, worked quietly, cleaned up each day, polite, willing do do small extras such as rewiring a phone jack and installing a new ceiling light. We had a problem with their subcontractor mis-measuring a section of our counter top. It took a while to resolve the problem to match up a new piece of quartz, but Home Craft made sure we were pleased with the final installation

Great! Todd Smith, the owner, and his carpenter, Mike, did a fantastic job! Todd came up with the design for the project which was not easy. There were definitely some mysteries regarding the loading bearing wall between the kitchen/dining room and the sunroom. There were also questions regarding a weird section of the kitchen that was added on, along with the sunroom, sometime in the 1960's. Todd spent hours going over every detail of the project before starting ( I think we met 6 -7 times) and we met numerous times during the construction which lasted about 3 1/2 months. We also discussed many details of the project over the phone. Todd went to various suppliers with me helping pick out materials, including the cabinets, granite, appliances, windows, doors and lighting. He always got back with me usually within minutes or that same day regarding my questions and concerns. He listened to me and respected my concerns. We discussed every detail of the project from the color of the electric switch plates to the type of kitchen cabinets. He also provided great ideas regarding design and choice of materials, such as sunroom floor tile, cabinet hardware and backsplash tile. He insisted on going to the lighting store with me to help pick out the pendant lights over the island. Todd is very knowledgeable about construction, design and products. He gave suggestions on where to shop for products and materials. His contacts for some of the materials were great to work with, including his cabinet supplier and the tile supplier. His subcontractors also did a great job. They all listened to me and went over every detail of the project, most notably his tile installer and his painters. This was a major job and this report does not completely describe very detail of the project and the fine work done by Todd and his workers. Todd has a great sense of humor which helped in the stressful months of construction. He never seemed to get fazed whenever a problem arose. His goal was to figure out how to fix the problem correctly and in the most economical way. His attention to detail and true care for the project was remarkable and I would most definitely hire him again
This was a project that was quoted on November 2014 and didnt pick up traction until October 2015 when I revisited his shop. Understand, commercial jobs are his bread and butter more then residential so you may wait like I did. One thing I recommend is that Scott be prompt about returning emails and phone calls and adding voicemail to the shops phone. That aside, no issues. On 11-23-15, I dropped off the kitchen cabinet doors at his shop so that he may install hinges and the supplied knobs. On 12-1-15, Scott and his crew made it out to the house to re-install the doors and make a repair to a cabinet where I removed an exhaust pipe so the hole was no longer present. The project was finally complete and we are VERY pleased with the results, despite the long long time. It gave our kitchen a more modern look by just adding the knobs and hiding the hinges. Great work and will recommend and may use them on future projects
