AUTHORIZED APPLIANCE REPAIR
Our oven went out on a Saturday, so I called this "authorized" repair from the yellow pages (they had logos of every major brand of appliance in their ad). I was told the computer had to be replaced and someone would call in a few days with an estimate (which they did) for $347. A "computer" sounded serious, and they came out a few days later. The technician was great, very friendly and helpful. He showed me the old part and told me it could have burned my house down, so I mentioned I would call GE and he agreed that would be a good idea, but if I wanted to keep the burned part, that would be an extra $15 because it goes back to be refurbished (I didn't pay to keep it). I called GE and they told me this firm was not an "authorized" GE repair company and could not help me and had I used an authorized repair firm, they would have taken care of it without a hassle, even though my oven is 7 years old. ,After talking to a supervisor, and because of the potential fire hazard, GE agreed to reimburse me for the defective part (Lesson 1: Always call your manufacturer before calling any repair company to find out their authorized repair services, regardless of the warranty or age of appliance). GE requested an invoice with the part detail, not just a bill with the "total" on it, which was all I was given. Upon calling Authorized Appliance for a seemingly simple request, I was firmly and rudely told by one of the owners they didn't break out parts from labor and outright refused to give me a detailed invoice, even though the GE reimbursement would have no impact on them. Wondering why they wouldn't detail the invoice, I looked on the internet and found the RETAIL price of my "computer" to cost between $95 and $135, making the hour or so of labor cost in excess of $300. I never did receive a detailed invoice, and therefore, never got reimbursed from GE for the part. I wish the nice technician luck in his job...do your homework if you decide to use this company. Unfortunately, I did not check with Angie's List before calling them...(Lesson 2: Always look at Angie's List first)

Dan was everything you want in an appliance repairman. Polite, cogent, helpful, clean, responsive, prompt, and comprehensive. He troubleshooted my situation to help before arriving (oven was beeping and could not be turned off at the breaker box because of other needs, so he talked me through removing the oven trim, and front panel so that I could unplug the circuit board to make the beeping stop. He told me if I had any other questions or problems, to call him and he could troubleshoot over the phone before scheduling a service call if needed. Will always call Dan in the future

The weekend before Christmas and a houseful of guests is a terrible time to have your oven quit, and I was worried I wouldn't be able to find someone to fix it. It's a very old oven, and ? even worse ? I was afraid I would have to replace it. I left a message for Mike at Maintenance Services Co., and he returned my call within a couple of hours. He was able to take a look at my oven the same day, and he arrived on time. He quickly diagnosed the problem, made a quick phone call, and said he'd phone when the part arrived. In the mean time, he gave me some valuable information about how I do NOT want to replace my oven if I can help it! Mike phoned the very next day letting me know the part had arrived. He was at my home within a few minutes, even bearing treats for my dog! He quickly replaced the part, made sure the oven worked, explained the billing to me (entirely reasonable) and was on his way. I would recommend him to anyone, and I won't hesitate to use Maintenance Services Company again. Friendly, professional, and A+ work

Allan Appliance Repair Service
I contacted Allan and first he had me check the circuit breaker to make sure it had not tripped. He called back after an hour or so and checked to see if that helped. No such luck. I had done some research and figured out what I thought the part was that we needed. Allan took down all the information including model number and part number. He called back the next day to make an appointment for the following day. Allan came at the correct time, tried a few other things and agreed with me about the part. He installed the new part and was here for about 45 minutes. Our wall oven is working great! He also gave a lot of advise about other appliances that we have. I will defiantly be using Allan again

25 bucks instead of a hundred+ for a repair - I'll take it. The repairman, John Shelton, was great. We encountered several difficulties in getting the door fixed. Turned out I didn't need a part, just needed to change a setting on the hinge. Who would've thought hinges had settings! My safety and protecting the rest of the oven were paramount concerns of John's while we tried different ways to get the hinge to the "unlocked" setting, and we finally got it done

I only paid the service fee, they replaced the disposal ($150) plus whatever a normal service call would cost, I am very happy with this service and will continue to keep my warranty in place. About perfect. I posted a request on Angieslist on Christmas afternoon. To my surprise I got an answer within an hour and then a follow-up phone call. Mark gave me an estimate on the phone and promised to search for the part next morning and call me by 9am. He called me on the dot. told me the part was not available at the local distributor but he had located it Louisville and that it would cost me a few bucks more for shipping. The part arrived in no time and on Monday morning he was in at the promised time. The installation went smoothly, and he cleaned up thoroughly all the small glass fragments. I was impressed by what came next. I was worried that the thermostat was off, causing overheating and the door's failure. He checked it, it was OK, and very openly and honestly said he had no conjecture on what could have been the cause of the door's failure

Great experience. Harmond W diagnosed the issue within the first 10 minutes of our interactive video session. He immediately followed up with the part number of the part which had likely failed and a link to Sears PartsDirect to order the part. After our session I removed the wall oven from the kitchen cabinet enclosure, found the suspected part, and confirmed it had indeed failed (as we had discussed during our session. I just ordered the part, and will plan to complete the oven repair when it arrives in a week or so. I'll definitely plan to use this Neli service again when needed
