I am so glad that I found this provider on Angie's list, as most of the reviews were dead on correct. I had attempted to put a new socket in one of the lamps. BIG MISTAKE as these lamps "unscrewed" in several sections and when I put the new socket in, the lamp was just not right. The other lamp also was becoming loose. They cleaned and rewired the lamps. When I picked the lamps up, I wanted new lamp shades and they provided several options which included not only the shade, but adding an extender so that the shade would be at the correct height. They did the work quickly, were very professional and the only thing I regret is that I had not used them sooner than I did.

Step daughter purchased used 2006 Mazda last year. She was not aware that a previous owner of the car had replaced the original factory installed headlamps with aftermarket HID lamps. These lamps recently began to not function properly. We decided to have these lamps replaced with standard lamps rather then attempt to have the off brand, aftermarket lamps repaired. The owner was very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. He provided some history of the Stiffel lamp company and the quality and craftsmanship of these vintage lamps. It took about two weeks to complete the work which was the estimated time I was told it would take. When I picked up the lamps, an employee plugged them in to ensure they worked perfectly with a three-way switch. The workmanship on recovering the shades was also excellent. Both lamps look brand new! I would definitely use their services again.

I simply can't say enough about Frank and his shop and team. My wife and I have been going to his store off and on for probably close to 20 years. We've bought multiple lamps and lighting equipment materials from him. He's repaired many of our older lamps. ALWAYS such friendly and professional experiences. We did a major bathroom and kitchen remodel and he provided guidance, expertise and a great price on lighting needs for that. One doesn't need lights/lamps every day, but over the years I keep coming back because he's so knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and it's just always a great experience. I have NEVER been disappointed and simply can't imagine anyone else being so, either. Thank you, Frank, for being such a great guy and having such a great shop! This shop is truly an "old fashioned" experience in service and the whole experience - you just don't see this kind of help very much these days, and definitely not in a "big box" store. This is a great, small shop (but don't let that fool you - he can get anything you need!) and I will ALWAYS come here for lighting needs.

The Stiffel lamp is a very expensive lamp and it has a three way switch for low medium and high as far as the intensity goes and that switch failed. Since it is a very expensive lamp made by Stiffel I took the whole lamp to the store. I have had work done there before. Usually you leave it and it takes three or four days and they will give you a call to let you know to come and pick it up. This time they were not too busy and they offered to fix it on the spot for me. They soldered the new three way switch on to the lamp. It took me a maximum of 20 minutes because they were other customers in the store there. It was really nice getting that fixed. I only paid a maximum of $20 for parts and labor. It was great service and they were able to do it immediately so it was really nice of them to do it. The lamp is now working great.

They ordered the bases which took about 2 weeks to come in. They said it would take two weeks, so the timing was exact. When the bases came in we brought in 4 lamps and had them repaired. One of the lamp bases was busted, the other ceramic base we were not sure how to take the base off. The other other two were easy to remove. They told us 7 to 10 days to do the repairs after the bases came in. We brought the lamps in on Thursday and they were done by Tuesday. The lamps look great. They are Civil War soldiers and we were not sure how to repair them. It was about $63 a lamp to repair. They did an excellent job. I would use them again. I read the reviews on the company on Angies List before calling them. I would recommend them to anyone. The employees are very nice. Barry does excellent work!

Frank and his repairman provide outstanding, knowledgeable service and products. Their prices are very fair. In fact, for lamp repairs they are less than we expected to pay. They know lighting, all the fixtures and accessories. Because they repaired antique and old lamps for us, they made changes to bring them up to date. They were able to tell us wattage limits for these old lamps. (Note that they do not make cosmetic repairs to ceramic, glass or metal lamps. They explain the replacement parts they can provide and how those parts work compared to the original.) Their stock of lamp shades is very good and they know how to help you select shades. If you need a shade, bring your lamp so they can help you select a new one. Don't just guess by size or color; you need to see how the shade fits and works with the lamp. They also sell new lamps and lighting fixtures. They have an extensive selection of contemporary and traditional styles, and the products are top quality. Again, their prices are very reasonable and you know what you are getting.

The electrician showed up at the scheduled time. He got to work immediately. He started work at the lamp that was on the metal pole in the front yard. He found that there was juice still coming through the wires to that lamp. This light hadn't worked in over 25 years - I had thought there was a break in the wiring going from the metal pole to the house. But after the electrician checked the wiring, he determined the problem had been in the lamp all along. He quickly removed the old, non working lamp and quickly replaced it with the new one. He then moved on to the lamp at the font door. He quickly removed the old lamp and worked on putting up the new lamp. He had some minor problems with putting up the new lamp, but he did get in done and the entire job took only about 30 minutes. I not only would recommend this company, but would use them again.

I bought the Angies List coupon for $110 which provided me with 2 hours of an electrician. I obviously forgot about it so 2 weeks before the end of the year and the expiration, I called to schedule an appointment. J&G were very kind and told me they would honor the coupon also after expiration. So we scheduled for January. Eric came round and we discussed 4 different options. He told me what could be done in the 2 hours, and I told him my priorities. He also clearly explained where he would need to make holes in the walls, and where he could fish the wires. He set to work immeadiately and managed to do 2 of the 4 jobs (more than I had expected). He also did a further small thing out of courtesy (changed a breaker in the panel). He left the place clean and the jobs were perfectly done. I was very happy and he was very professional and pleasant to deal with.

The service at this shop is wonderful. They carefully examined the lamps, were very clear about the options, seemed extremely knowledgeable and honest, very polite....just plain interested in giving great service. On top of all this, when the owner heard I had come to his shop from Maryland, he made the repair immediately so that I would not have to drive back to pick up the lamps. He even directed me to a supermarket so that I could do a little grocery shopping while he made the repair. The experience was entirely satisfactory and I cannot recommend the shop more highly.

One of the lamps, which is 60 years old, very heavy and yet very delicate, needed a new center support. That work required disassembling the lamp, which is constructed entirely of glass spheres that are wired together! Only an extraordinarily skilled person could have taken that lamp apart--one sphere at a time--and put it back together perfectly. Oscar is the gentleman who did that. He saved my grandparents' lamp, and I am so very grateful to him! A gentleman named Frank is the proprietor at the gallery, and he is just as affable as anyone can be. I've been a customer at this shop for years--even when I lived in D.C. From the quality of the merchandise to the reasonable prices (sometimes high, but never inappropriate), from the talented repair services to the cordiality of the proprietor and his staff, this is a first-class shop.

We brought the lamp in on a Sunday and after a *very* short wait were helped by Chris. He quickly figured out a way to repair the lamp and took care of a few other age-related issues such as a burned cord. We watched the whole thing so that if we ever have the same problem with the matching lamp, we know how to fix it on our own. He gave us a new light bulb and doohickey that affixes to the very top of the lamp. The total charge was $1.90. . He didn't charge us for his labor. It was very considerate. We noticed that they had a great selection of lamps, better than we'd seen elsewhere. We have some other rennovations coming up in the future and we're pleased to know we have a place to go for our lighting needs!
