Sales person Brent Zega at first said the quote would include the 3rd party air testing. But on the contract, he wrote 3rd party air testing excluded. When I asked him, he said they actually performed testing themselves. But when I called the office, the receptionist said they don't do air testing. Then I talked to the manager Stephen. He said the receptionist didn't know anything, that they sent air samples to their lab in southern California for testing and that is included in the price they quoted me. But after the abatement work, I never received any testing results from their lab. I tried calling many times. Neither Stephen nor Brent took my call

Protera absolutely completely failed in doing their job. The only positive point is that Joe from Protera came out to our home to do the job quickly and showed up on time. However, Protera was supposed to provide official results from the tests. They were supposed to fax us the results within 24 hours of the tests. After 24 hours, we still hadn't heard from Joe so we called him repeatedly until he finally answered the phone. He gave us verbal "results" over the phone but was supposed to fax us official results. After several days had passed without the official results, we called him again. He never returned our calls. We then called the office and spoke with a person at the office. They were not able to find a record of the work that was done and said they would call back. She sounded impatient and annoyed. They never called back. We never received any results. (We also haven't received a bill yet.) We ended up re-testing with another company

The inspector came over and estimated a full day job, and told me that they would set up a corridor between the Attic entrance and the front door as a sealed working area and apply negative pressure. Because the contractor work for installing the new air duct already scheduled, there was only a few days window. He was nice to squeeze in the project for me scheduled at 12:30 even though he said it's a full day job. I decided to work from home to save some commute time on the day scheduled. To my surprise, 2 workers showed up at my front door a bit after 10am. I felt lucky to be at home. They sealed the registers and started working on the Attic without setting up a sealed corridor as I was told. When I asked, they said it's not needed for my home. It turned out that they simply taped a pipe to an air vent under the eave to pump air out. I'm not sure how effective it is with such a small air way. And they wrapped up and left at 12:30, so much of "a full day job". The second day the contractor installing the new furnace found a big piece of asbestos insulation not removed at the bottom of the old furnace

Everything from getting estimate to actually having ductwork removed went very well. Prompt. Courteous. Professional. My only issue was I asked for documentation of what was done - to give prospective home buyers - and received no response until I said I wouldn't pay final invoice until I got documentation. Then I got response saying the specific documentation / commentary would be sent to me AFTER I paid invoice. Since the e-mail response included the specific info I asked for - in informal comments - I really can't figure out why they didn't get back to me before they sent invoice. It was 3 workdays

Z-con was a little hard to contact (they didn't always call back in a timely manner). However, the work appears to have been done very well--they hauled away (in plastic bags), the asbestos-wrapped materials. They also completely removed an old heater system that was attached to the ducting. Their price was competitive and their workers arrived on time and left the work area clean and free of debris/material. They also did a good job covering up all of the ducts inside the house before removing the asbestos under the house
