NARFE October
If you haven't yet registered for the national NARFE Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's® team, it's not too late! There's still time to join fellow chapter members in the fight against Alzheimer's and all other dementia. Your participation will bolster our efforts to advance Alzheimer's care, support and research.

National NARFE Walk to End Alzheimer's teams have raised over $50,000 thus far, toward improving the lives of people living with Alzheimer's, their families and caregivers. But Alzheimer's isn't waiting. And neither are you. We need your help to raise even more funds to fight the disease that's taken too much from too many. Join the NARFE team today and join our fight!

Association-funded researcher focus on health care disparities
As the number of older Americans living with Alzheimer's continues to grow, not all groups are affected equally. Alzheimer's Association-funded researcher Magaly Ramirez, Ph.D., is conducting collaborative research to help discover solutions that improve the health of Latinos burdened by disparities in health status and health care delivery. Wandering raises safety concerns for someone living with Alzheimer's
Anyone who has memory problems and is able to walk is at risk of wandering. Six in 10 people living with Alzheimer's or another dementia will wander, but we have strategies and resources to help prevent it. Learn more.

Air pollution may increase dementia risk
The air people breathe could increase the risk of dementia, new research suggests. A large, 17-year study found that air pollution was significantly associated with a higher risk of hospital admissions for Alzheimer's and other dementias, as well as Parkinson's. The researchers said current U.S. Environmental Protection Agency air-quality standards should be improved to better protect older Americans. Learn more.

It may be difficult to tell symptoms of Alzheimer's and depression apart
Depression is common among people living with Alzheimer's, especially during the early and middle stages. Identifying depression in someone living with the disease can be difficult since the conditions share similar symptoms. Learn more.
