It took about about 6 weeks from estimate to job completion, but it only took 1 full day for the entire fence to be removed and replaced. The price was not the lowest, but it was competitive and well worth it. The quality of workmanship was excellent, the 3 men working were pleasant and professional. At least 2 other contractors doing other projects mentioned the high quality work on our fence. Would definitely hire again

This is an email of gratitude for a job well done for my new fence. The fence looks great and is what we wanted. There was an initial issue with one section, but Gerald and his crew returned quickly and fixed the issue. Gerald and his crew also did a great job carefully working around the plants and bushes. I highly recommend Reliable Fence and Gerald's crew to anyone looking for a new fence

I worked with Fensu in May 2022 to rip down an old wooden fence around my patio and put up a new vinyl fence. Chris was my primary point of contact at Fensu. Chris came onsite for an initial meeting and then came back a 2nd time for a meetup with the mason I was working with, as I had our patio updated at the same time as the fence replacement and wanted to ensure Fensu and my mason were aligned on the approach to the project. The project required coordination to have the old fence removed and new metal poles core drilled into my retaining wall on which the patio sits, then the mason took two weeks to do the patio, and then Fensu came back to install the vinyl fence. Fensu did all of the work on time and in a professional manner, showing respect for the property. The crew did a great job communicating with me to make sure the two gates were installed in the direction I expected them to be installed. They had to do some custom work where the patio meets the driveway wall and they did a really nice job with that section of the fence. Overall very good experience with Fensu and would recommend them to others looking for fence work. I’ve received compliments from neighbors and a couple neighbors asked me for Fensu’s contact information, which I think is high praise

Cannot overstate what a great job these folks did. It was a rather large job for an early learning center for pre-k children. Had to deal with wetlands requirements per Mass EPA, fence height and gap requirements per Mass Department of Early Education and Care (DEEC), access for (believe it or not) squirrels and other small animals requested by the town, access for parents and children, as well as access for landscape equipment. Dana from RFCBoston was not only patient, but insightful regarding improvements to our initial layout, as well as both additions to and deletions from our original specifications. Yes, there were a few errors, and important ones at that. But corrections were immediate and proper. In addition, the folks that did the installation were very, very nice people and a pleasure to work with. Job is correct, to plan, and seems very sturdy. Thank you

Very well. We had been delaying addressing this project because it seemed difficult, especially after talking to other contractors, but everything turned out great, and we (and our neighbors) are very happy with the result. We are looking forward to tackling the next phase in this project.

I’m really pleased with the job Reliable did repairing my fence. They were extremely punctual in sending someone out to have a look at the job, the quote was right on the money, and the work was finished in an extremely timely fashion. All cleaned up like it never even happened! I would definitely hire them again

Chris and his crew at FENSU did a fantastic job from start to finish installing my fence. He was extremely thorough when initially evaluating the job and spent a lot of time making sure he new exactly how it would be installed. Communication was great through the job and the end result was exactly what we wanted. His initial quote was what I ended up paying. I rarely take the time to write reviews like this, but it was warranted in this situation and I would highly recommend FENS

Judy, Bob and the staff at American Fences were incredibly helpful with identifying our needs and helping us choose the perfect fencing to keep our dogs in our yard. They took the time to listen and made suggestions on what they thought would work best. I definitely recommend them and will be back for any future fence needs we have

Fencing FAQ

  1. How much does it cost to install a fence?

Answer: The average cost to install a fence is $2,600. A variety of factors will impact the overall cost of fencing installation, such as the length of the fence, the materials you choose, and local labor costs. Fencing projects using the lowest cost materials and with lower labor costs can cost as little as $1 to $6 per linear foot, while projects using the highest cost materials and with higher labor costs may be as high as $15 to $45.

  2. Do I need a permit to build a fence around a yard?

Answer: Whether you’ll need a permit to build a fence around your yard will depend on your city or county's local codes. Many metropolitan and suburban areas require a permit to install most fencing, but they may not for fences situated behind a house as opposed to in front of it or fences that don’t run within a certain distance of the road. To find out if you’ll need a permit to fence your yard, reach out directly to your local government office.

  3. What is the cheapest fence to install?

Answer: The cheapest fencing to install is chain-link fencing. Chain-link fencing is typically cheaper than other fence types because the materials cost less, and installation is generally quicker and easier than other options. Chain-link fencing is affordable, easy to install, and low maintenance. However, it’s usually considered less secure than other options and doesn’t increase resale value as much as fences made of different materials.

  4. Is a wood or vinyl fence cheaper?

Answer: Wood fences are generally cheaper than the cost of vinyl fences. While the cost of materials for wood and vinyl fences is usually very similar, the labor cost associated with installing a vinyl fence is higher. Wood fencing is also easier to install than vinyl fencing, making it possible to save money by making wood fence installation a DIY project. It’s also possible to DIY install a vinyl fence.

  5. What is the life expectancy of a vinyl fence?

Answer: Vinyl fencing can be expected to last between 10 and 30 years. Vinyl fencing is generally low maintenance, but proper care will ensure it lasts as long as possible. Its long life span and high return on investment make vinyl fencing a popular option for many homeowners.

  6. What type of fence adds to the property value?

Answer: Installing quality fencing, no matter the fence type, will generally add value to your property. In general, fences made of longer-lasting, lower-maintenance, and more attractive materials—like wrought-iron, composite, or vinyl—add more value to a property than fences made of lower-cost or less attractive materials, like chain-link. To ensure your fencing adds as much value to your home as possible, be sure it’s properly permitted, approved by your homeowners association (if you have one), and installed properly.
