Our first cohort of Latin American solar trainees are learning how to assemble, install and maintain solar LED systems and lanterns at our training centre in Guatemala. With a record-breaking age range of 20-69 years old, these indigenous women will soon all become Solar Mamas. The tremendous efforts of our team on the ground have come to fruition and we hope to continue this work for many years to come. 🥳 2.2 MILLION people now have access to solar energy thanks to the work of the incredible Solar Mamas we have trained around the world! 3,500+ women from more than 90 countries have been trained as solar engineers through our Solar programme so far! They go on to bring clean, sustainable energy to some of the most remote communities around the world. These families in Guatemala recieved solar energy during the pandemic. Solar light ensures that children can study, women can earn money from their homes, and rural people can stay in rural communities instead of being forced to leave their homes and culture behind to migrate into cities. It protects the environment, reduces costs and improves health outcomes for women and children in particular!
