on self-care: Self-care often shows up as self-soothing, including TV binging and singing loudly. But self-care is activities that help you find meaning and that support your growth and groundedness including exercise, therapy, and eating well. #MichiganIT
Model generosity and vulnerability: If you demonstrate care for your students, they will be more likely to meet you with the same care and grace. You need to put it out there to get it back.
Do not overstretch yourself: Being available 24/7 to every student is not sustainable. It is important to set boundaries to protect your own mental health. Do not bend until you break. Their class cannot happen without you.
Temper your expectations: Just like every class didn’t change your life, you may not be able to meet the unreasonable expectation that you can connect with every single student. Students also need to meet you halfway, they may not be ready.
Zoom: You can get a lot done via Zoom - have lunch or coffee. Show who you are in “real life” so others can understand how to invest and support you. 3/ 3
: How do you, or could you, use technology to build community in your classroom, lab, or office?

: As we think about rolling out services, we need to think about how we collaborate, simplicity, accessibility, and assessment. We should make sure that Michigan is #1 in leading the way in delivering IT services. #MichiganIT#UMichTalks
: I have challenged my leadership with how we can simplify our tools, websites, and services to meet our users where they are. We need to focus on our customers to ensure that we’re meeting their needs. #MichiganIT#UMichTalks
