This is the best cleaning company! The takeaway is that this is a small, well-run company that takes tremendous pride in its work, they stand behind their work, are all extremely nice, competent people, are great to work with. They are hard working and extremely honest and trustworthy. I hired Family Cleaning Services to do a deep, one time cleaning of an apartment that I am getting ready to rent out. The apartment is in an old house, built in 1887, and was dirty and full of thick dust from recent repairs to the walls and painting. Emilia, Alan and crew arrived on time and worked very hard and efficiently. I couldn’t believe the difference when I saw what they had done! Their rates are very reasonable, especially given the excellent job they do. When it came time to pay them, the rest of the crew had left, and Emilia and Alan were finishing up. I paid for the cleaning, and then because I was so impressed with their work, I gave Alan $40 cash tips for each person. A short time later Alan sent me a text saying that had been only four people cleaning, and I had given tips for five people. He asked when he could return the extra $40 cash tip!!! Does this ever happen?! Because I was impressed with his honesty, and because they worked so hard, I told him to split it with Emilia. The next day when I got to the apartment I found a few things that had been missed. It wasn’t a lot, and was rather minor. I sent a text to Alan asking about it, along with some photos, and he apologized and asked when he and Emilia could return to take care of it, which they did happily! Not only did they clean what was missed, but Emilia really worked hard to make it perfect. I cannot recommend them strongly enough, and will be hiring them to clean the apartment I live in on a regular basis. I can’t imagine a better group of people and a better cleaning company. You will not regret choosing Family Cleaning Services!

Service Pros

How Much Do Home Cleaning Services Cost?

Housekeeping services in Minneapolis vary widely, and so do the costs. Pros generally price their cleaning services by specific service, meaning you pay a specific fee for specific types of cleaning, or by hourly fee schedules. Complex cleaning jobs that require unique equipment can cost more.

Nationally, the average cost for most home cleaning services is $75 to $250 per session. This could cover an array of services, including standard cleaning, running errands, washing laundry, or cooking.

  • Companies that advertise house cleaning tend to provide cleaning work only. The typical costs are $125 to $240 per cleaning appointment, though you may choose options that allow you pay a specific amount per month for once-weekly cleaning.
  • In-depth cleaning jobs start around $400, on average, and the complete charge depends on the difficulty and size of the proposed job.
  • Cleaning gutters costs around $160, but you may pay more for a home with more square footage or one requiring multiple ladders or scaffolding.
  • Using a pressure washer to wash siding on a home costs around $280, although, once more, a big house tends to cost much more to clean.

Factors to Consider When Searching for a Cleaning Service

Knowing what to look for in a housekeeping company can help you find the best service for your home. It’s important to look for a company with the right skills and experience, but you’ll also want to hire a business that demonstrates trustworthiness and ethics. After all, you’re going to allow these professionals into the most private spaces in your home.

Research Customer Feedback and Get Advice

Research customer reviews on HomeAdvisor. Once you’ve done that and narrowed down the list, take the time to look at reviews on other sites. You might also seek advice via social media or from friends and family. Once you reach out to a potential house cleaning company, inquire about feedback so you may speak directly to past or past customers. This information assists you in getting an overall understanding of the company’s quality of work and customer service.

Double Check for Complaints That Have Not Been Resolved

Check out the BBB webpage or the service’s Twitter feed to find any complaints that haven’t been resolved. These are consumer complaints that the service has left unaddressed. Although a single issue isn’t automatically a red flag, a history of similar complaints without business response may be a red flag.

Educate Yourself By Visiting the House Cleaning Service’s Site

Read through info on the cleaning business’s site to learn how it hires employees, what processes and chemicals it utilizes, and whether it engages in the type of work you require. Search for cleaning businesses that perform background checks on employees and take other steps to guarantee customer and home safety. You may also want to email and ask about chemicals if you have immunocompromised individuals, young children, or pets in the house.

Taking a minute to conduct deep research helps you employ a house cleaning company in Minneapolis that most accurately meets your needs.

  • Keeping your home clean is a task that never seems to end, and it can take up most of your free time. Instead of spending your weekends mopping and dusting, consider hiring a housekeeper or cleaning service.
  • Unless a housekeeper performs specific duties regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency or your state or local government, no specific licensing is usually required to become a housekeeper. However, you’ll want to work with a professional who can pass a background check and has a current business license, liability insurance and a surety bond. You’ll also want to select someone who has the experience and can provide references, or someone who has received some professional training from a cleaning company.
  • Keep in mind when hiring any type of professional to clean your home that each state has its own requirements for licensing. You can use Home Advisor’s Contractor Licensing Requirements State-By-State guide to learn more. You can also learn more about the extensive screening process we use when allowing businesses to join our network.

When you hire a housekeeper or cleaning service, there are some questions you’ll need to ask to ensure you’re hiring the right person for the job. Writing down a list of services you want to be completed is a great place to start. This way, you’ll have all the information you need when you do interview a housekeeper or cleaning service, and they can provide you with accurate information and cost estimates.

What Services Do You Offer?

Find out upfront if the housekeeper or cleaning company offers the services you need, especially if you have requests that go beyond basic services.

How Do You Come Up With Your Rates?

Do they charge a flat fee each week? Do they charge an hourly rate? Some companies charge based on your home’s square footage or the number of bedrooms you have.

Do You Provide Your Own Supplies?

Many companies may provide some smaller cleaning supplies, but they may need to use your vacuum cleaner or mop. Others bring their own or none at all. And if you’re particular about the types of chemicals used in your home, you may want to ask what products they use or if they’re willing to use what you provide.

What Happens if Something Goes Wrong?

Anytime you have a professional in your home, something could go wrong. They could get hurt, or some of your property may be damaged. Ask what would happen in these scenarios — a well-qualified professional will have the necessary insurance and bonding to cover these situations.
