Chicago Central Humidifier Installation

Arturo called to tell me he was coming to my condo. Installed humidifier, installed longer wires (first rep wired).

THE TECH, GREG, SEEMED POLITE AND THOROUGH. HOWEVER, AFTER HE FINISHED INSTALLING HUMIDIFIER, THE FURNACE NO LONGER WORKED. HE MADE EXCUSES, THEN LEFT. WE HAD NO HEAT FOR A COLD WEEKEND. I CALLED THE OWNER, BILL, TO EXPLAIN MY CONCERN THAT GREG'S WORK DAMAGED THE FURNACE. HE SAID HE WAS SURE THIS WAS NOT THE CASE, BUT WOULD SEND SOMEONE ELSE OUT TO LOOK AT IT. RORY CAME, & SAID IT LOOKED LIKE GREG HAD DAMAGED THE CIRCUIT PANEL OF THE FURNACE. HE REPLACED PANEL, RESTORED HEAT, AND TOLD ME TO CALL BILL TO SEE IF I OWED ANY MONEY. I LEFT A MESSAGE FOR BILL IN OCT. 2004; HE NEVER RETURNED MY PHONE CALL. I LET IT GO. RECENTLY, WE HAD MECH WORK DONE BY NEW COMPANY. THEY POINTED OUT THAT THE HUMIDIFIER WAS MISSING POSITIVE WATER SHUTOFF. I CALLED BILL AGAIN ON 1/19/05 AND LEFT A MESSAGE EXPLAINING SITUATION, & ASKED HIM TO CALL ME TO DISCUSS. MY HOPE WAS THAT HE WOULD FIX THIS, SINCE IT SHOULD BE PART OF PROPER HUMIDIFIER INSTALLATION. AGAIN, HE NEVER RETURNED MY CALL. BEYOND UNPROFESSIONAL.

They always do a top notch job for us. Installation of Carrier central humidifier on existing furnace. connections of all sheet metal, electricaland connection exisinr water supply valve and condensate pump. It was a very "tight squeeze as the hall closet is 40 years old and a new humidifier was a very tight squeeze of placing it above, not below. Also the owner of the firm, Dave Ireland, is a wonderful humanitarian man.His wife and I are members of a group, Camp Home, that sponsores a 2 week session for children with physical and mental needs at a sume camp each year. All of our equipment is kept at Dave's wearhouse, delivered by truck and returned each year.

We always request Daryl because he has cleaned our furnace and air conditioner for probably 20 years! We trust him and he is worthy of our trust. If he tells us we need something, we believe him. There have been times when he tells us we don't need something and we appreciate that. The reason we only spent #17.00 today is because we needed a new humidifier filter. We buy the pre-pay service for our furnace and air-conditioner. AWE always sends us a card and calls to tell us that it is "time" for a scheduled cleaning, and that makes it convenient to keep up with their maintenance. They do not make a mess in your house because they put on booties every time they enter your home and remove them if they have to go back to the truck, and then they put them back on when they return to the house. How nice is that?

Went great! Mike arrived promptly on time & did the job thoroughly, quickly & efficiently. He left the area clean & net. He's pleasant, professional, and the cost is very fair--a bargain, all in all. I wish all contractors had his work ethic.

Went very well. The biggest problem was the minimum service call but he used the extra time to review some more things and make a recommendation about replacing our water heater.

Brian arrived on time. Installed humidifier and thermostat with no problems. Instructed me in their use.

sales rep on phone was very professional and pleasant. The price was competitive. No extra charges when the bill came. The installer was respectful and tried to be neat and clean.

I noticed that the furnace for the second floor of the house had died. I called Lifeline based on the other excellent reviews I had seen on Angie's List. I called on March 7 and was able to set up an appointment for an inspection for the same day. The technician, Joe, was punctual and polite. One thing I immediately noticed is that before entering the house, he put plastic booties on over his shoes, which I really appreciated. Joe took about 1 hour to look everything over. He called me up and showed me exactly what was wrong with the system (actually multiple things were wrong). There was water/condensate rather copiously leaking from the secondary heat exchanger. There was also rather extensive corrosion of both the primary heat exchanger and the secondary heat exchanger. This was causing the gas flame to not be drawn in to the primary heat exchanger as well as it should have been. This in turn was causing overheating of the frame of the furnace. He actually showed me the corrosion with this cool flexible scope. He also showed me the abnormality with the flames as well as the water that was rather obviously leaking. Since the system was 23 years old (was the original system that had been installed when the house was built) and given what was wrong with the system, he suggested just changing the entire system. He did not try to up-sell me on anything. I agreed with him. He didn't pressure me. He answered all of my questions clearly and thoroughly (and I had a lot of questions). He also did not try to sell me a system that was too large or overpowered for the space. He also gave me several options in terms of the level of efficiency of both the AC and the furnace. He was honest about what he felt was worth paying for and what was not worth paying for. I settled on a 16 SEER 4 ton AC and a 95% efficient dual stage 100,000 BTU furnace. The central humidifier was also replaced. I thought that I would have to wait a while for the installation, but surprisingly he said they would be able to come the next day to do the installation. We firmed up the appointment for the installation. He explained that they would need a 30% deposit and that the remaining 70% would be due at the time of completion of the installation. The installers arrived the next day at 10 AM. The installers names were Brandon and Anthony. They were very polite and introduced themselves. They also put plastic booties on their shoes before coming into the house. They took them off when they exited the house and put them back on when they entered the house. They must have gone in and out of the house about a hundred times and they did it every time. They laid out tarps along the entire path that they would be using in the house. They were exceedingly careful when moving things in and out. They cleaned up after themselves when they left. Everything was immaculate when they were done; there was not a spot on the carpet, a scratch on the hardwood, nor a ding on any wall. They also hauled away all of the garbage (including the old furnace, AC, and humidifier). They took about 10 hours to do the job. Brandon explained to me that things were taking longer because the furnace was located in a closet. This meant that there was only enough room for one person to be working at a time in the cramped space. Brandon gave me multiple updates throughout the day. He showed me the final product. He answered all my questions politely and throughly. He was also training Anthony and I could hear that he was being polite and courteous with him as well. I was very impressed. I would definitely call Lifeline again for any HVAC issues.

Rick arrived around noon and did a very nice job removing the old humidifier and installing the new.

Have used for over 30 years. Have been great for furnace replacement and maintenance and A/C replacement and maintenance. Also used them to do my last water heater replacement. They also take care of the central humidifier and air cleaner. Love the Comfort Club for the ease of scheduling all annual servicing.

Last Feb, when my husband & I were out of the country, our furnace broke down. I advised my son to call Four Seasons. They were prompt to repair, but I thought to expensive. When I said this to an Angies list rep on the phone, I was called one day later by a Four Seasons customer rep. They gave us a free furnace cleaning, were zealous in their eagerness to make good any problems; and I promptly bought and had installed a new furnace humidifier from them.

I'm not sure if Walter and Arzet Heating and Air Conditioning are incompetent or dishonest. Either way, they have stolen $1500 from me to install a humidifier that is totally useless. I am attempting to get it fixed or get my money back and they are completely ignoring me. I am currently speaking to a lawyer. The issues: They installed a humidifier that supplies no humidity to my house whatsoever. The humidity level is constantly at 15%. The humidistat cover and knob keep falling off. Their solution was telling me to duct tape it. They are now ignoring my repeated attempts to communicate and get a resolution. . Walter's many excuses for why the humidifier doesn't work: 1. The furnace is too big. (They knew this before charging me for the humidifier and installation). 2. It's cold outside. 3. I shouldn't pay attention to the 15% humidity reading. 3. I need to buy a more expensive humidistat. 4. I need to let it run for a few hours to work properly. Then, when that didn't work... 5. I need to let it run for a few days. 6. Walter then just started telling me it's working, even though 15% humidity is clearly the opposite of working. . Their mistakes: They installed the humidifier on the plenum (the very hot outside part of the furnace). Every company I have talked to since has said no professional would do this. It goes on the return or nearby. They then came back to bypass the broken humidistat so the humidifier just runs whenever the heat is on. This accomplished nothing. Water doesn't even run into the humidifier. It's bone dry. . The funny thing is I will soon need 2 new complete hvac units. If they had handled my humidifiers correctly, I was ready to hire them for a $12,000-$15,000 job (or higher). Obviously that's not happening. . Walter, I'm sorry Yelp is the only way I have of contacting you now. You owe me my money back.

Communication was great throughout the process. I inquired about the deal and spoke to Sam directly. He was very informative and responsive. Once I purchased the deal Sam called me back to setup an appointment. On the day of the appointment I was notified that they were in route. Installation took a couple of hours. The service tech was extremely nice and knowledgeable. A+ all the way. I would recommend to to others.

I called and received an estimate. Very thorough and professional. Answered all of my questions. Installers were great and explained everything I needed to know.
