Peer Corps
HLC relies upon the work of peer reviewers for its accrediting activities. These volunteers generously share their knowledge and experience to assure and advance institutional quality.
The Peer Corps application period for this year is closed. HLC expects to reopen this process next fall, depending upon its needs in the Corps. Please check Become a Peer Reviewer in October 2022 for more information.
Visiting Scholars and Research Fellows
HLC offers faculty members, independent scholars, and graduate students opportunities to work on a dedicated project connected to higher education accreditation that may use HLC resources and data. This program was created to advance the following purposes:
- To support a new or ongoing research project by studying and analyzing data or reports submitted to HLC by its member institutions or peer reviewers.
- To pursue a research question using HLC’s data and other resources.
- To create resource materials for print or web-based publications designed to benefit member institutions or the higher education community.
- To advance an approved independent research project submitted by a research scholar or graduate student that will enhance understanding of current issues facing higher education and support the public good.

Academy Mentors
Academy Mentors offer guidance, advice and feedback to institutions in the Assessment Academy and Persistence and Completion Academy. Mentors work with one or more institutions throughout the four-year Academy experience to assist the institutions in developing and implementing their projects related to assessment or persistence and completion.
Periodically, HLC seeks new Mentors. The ideal mentor has experience in the assessment of student learning or student persistence and completion and has been working in the field for at least five years.
