The Faculty Advisory Council (FAC)

The Faculty Advisory Council (FAC), an advisory group to the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE), is a representative group of faculties in the State of Illinois. It has 36 members comprised of the following Institutions in the State.

  • 12 Representatives, one from each of the 12 public universities
  • 12 Representatives from the private and proprietary institutions
  • 12 Representatives from the public community colleges

Independent College & University Presidents Council

The Federation is a statewide association representing the public policy interests of 60 independent Illinois (private, not-for-profit) colleges and universities and the students they serve. The Federation strives to enable the continued success of member institutions and their students through proactive government relations and public affairs efforts.

The Federation is the recognized organizational representative to the Illinois Board of Higher Education, the Illinois Student Assistance Commission, the Illinois General Assembly, and the Governor.

Proprietary Advisory Committee (PAC)

The PAC has been a proud partner of IBHE since 1974 and is comprised of 22 colleges and universities serving students throughout Illinois. The PAC is committed to partnering with IBHE on matters affecting long term higher education goals in the state of Illinois and in particular helping to exceed the state goal of 60 percent of adults holding a postsecondary degree or credential by 2025 (60 x 2025).

Student Advisory Council (SAC)

Each year a group of students are chosen from around the state to be student advisors to the board. This group of students have the opportunity to see the State Board’s policymakers in action and work with them to provide student perspectives and concerns on the state’s education policies. Students come together a handful of times throughout the year and work remotely on a research project that is presented to the Board.

Illinois Council of Community College Presidents

The Illinois Council of Community College Presidents is an organization consisting of all chancellors and presidents of the public community colleges in Illinois. Organized on June 11, 1968, the Council meets periodically throughout the year to discuss common problems of concern and issues in community college education. It works closely with the Illinois Community College Trustees Association.

Disability Advisory Council (DAC)

Committee was organized in February 2004 and charged to advise IBHE on policy matters – serving students with disabilities effectively. Membership consists of disability providers and experts from universities and community colleges and a rep of students and ISBE. IBHE liaison assigned. Working on recruiting rep of independent inst.
