This was the best house construction experience we’ve ever had. They were extremely professional from start to finish. They had the lowest bid, but quality was really great, and no additional surprise charges.

They were so fast and did an amazing job. Excellent communication too. They took the time to make sure the details of our old house weren’t lost in updating the materials around our windows. Straight forward on pricing. Will definitely recommend to everyone.

Gary is so great! He took time to discuss with us the best options and was very reasonable price for all the work we had then do. We will be calling for his services again when we are ready to paint the inside of our house. Thank you!

We had some wood rot in a few spots on exterior trim and columns, so we originally hired 21st Century to do minor carpentry and touch up paint. Once they got into it, they discovered an active termite colony (yikes!). They removed panels for all areas that appeared to be affected for easier access during the termite inspection and then we paused the repair work until the termite issue was resolved. After the termite treatment was done, 21st Century amended the original plan to incorporate the more extensive damage and then came back and took care of it! They basically ended up replacing ~2.5 entire columns, several pieces of trim board, and a few 2x4s. They replaced most of at least the exterior-facing wood with superior hardie board and although they did not guarantee an exact match on paint colors, I was impressed with how close they were able to get. All in all, they knocked out what ended up being a fairly extensive job in about 3.5 days, counting the time spent up front removing panels and coming up with a broader action plan after discovering termites, for what I would consider a reasonable price

  • M&M Roofing, Siding & Windows

M & M Roofing re-roofed my Round Rock home in May of 2022 and did an excellent job on this $13K+ project. The same crew also did a separate small siding repair for me a week earlier. Bob Mills is the most attentive, thorough, and honest of the 5 roofing managers I've selected over the years. His bid was competitive but not the lowest -- I've made the mistake in the past of just going with the lowest bidder. This company, M&M, is large enough to be reliable and accountable. Their parent company, also called M&M, is based in Houston but I dealt only with the Austin organization. The crew of 3 finished in 3 1/2 days, an approach I prefer because the quality of workmanship is noticeably more even with a smaller crew. Bob and his area supervisor Dan communicate well, offer good advice, and follow through on promises. I recommend them to family and friends without reservation, and I would use them again

Everything went smooth from start to finish and I am very happy with the quality of work and the attention to detail by the whole crew. It took two days to do repairs (rotted door trim and trim boards near siding), power washing, and paint, two days to do the roof and new chimney surround, and a couple of trips out for some touch up work. Everyone was super friendly, professional, and kept me informed during the project

Think about these suggestions when looking for a siding contractor

Getting a trained company is key for homeowners who want siding installed. A good professional can make sure you see good outcomes from your siding work. Prior to signing on the dotted line with a community siding contractor, be sure to take into consideration the following.

  • Look at examples of finished projects, and ask for proof that the community siding company has completed a project similar to your assignment previously. Ask for a portfolio of work or review any work portfolio on the company’s webpage.
  • Ask for testimonials. Ask potential contractors if they can provide references from prior clients. This helps you discover how content others are with the business’s service.
  • Review all the fine details. Everything you agree to with the business should be in print before you sign up. If a business seems reluctant to add anything in writing, that can be a red flag that you should choose some other siding business.

Average cost of siding a house

Be prepared to pay anywhere from $2,900 to $44,000 for a house siding job. That’s a ginormous scope because so many factors play a role in determining the cost of any property siding project.

Usually, the two most important factors in the expense of a home siding job are the size of the home and the kind of siding you need. Vinyl siding costs around $2 to $3 per square foot, and aluminum siding typically costs closer to $3 to $4 per square foot. Brick siding can cost you up to $3 to $10 per square foot. Stone veneer is more expensive, running around $8 to $11 per square foot on average.

If the pro you choose has to complete extra prep work, such as removing damaged boards or infrastructure before installing siding, the cost is almost always more. The same is true for more intricate projects, such as installing siding on eaves or multiple-story houses that require the pros to erect scaffolding.

The best way to figure out how much your project might cost is to ask for quotes from siding pros in your area.
