Recent Review: The serviceman's name was Dave. He was punctual and courteous. He answered any and all questions that I had. I didn't have the opportunity to do any comparative pricing as to whether it was competitive price that I was charged. But I was satisfied with the service aspect of it. With regard to price, I don't know what other companies were charging. I don't know what the competitive rate would be. It was something that I needed to get done. I went on Angie's List and I saw their name listed. I called them up, and they came out and that was it. I didn't have the luxury of shopping around for a price. I certainly would use them again in the future.

Recent Review: Called in June because my air conditioner wasn't working well. Technician, Josh came out. Determined the problem was likely a bad evaporator coil causing a leak. Added dye to track source of leak and confirm if the problem was the evaporator coil. With the dye, I was able to determine the leak was indeed the evaporator coil and called Technical Hot & Cold in mid August to replace. Josh was on vacation and would be back the following Monday and would call me to schedule a time to come out. He came out the following Friday and replaced the coil. Happy with the quality of his work. Air conditioner is working well so far. Not happy, that due to miscommunication between employees at Technical Hot & Cold, Josh had come out to my house on Monday when I wasn't home instead of calling me as I was told he would. After I paid the bill on Friday, I noticed $62.50 charge from a Monday visit which was not removed after I indicated that there had been no appointment scheduled for Monday. No times were discussed with the person I spoke with on the phone, no appointment was set. I would never had set up an appointment on Monday due to my work schedule. I'm on the fence if I would use them again but I would definitely pay close attention to the billing next time before paying them.

Recent Review: Install was a little difficult because of space involved. Techs worked fairly quick but...did not test the entire system or get air out of water lines before they left. Recent Review: Kevin and Lee did my yearly maintenance and I asked them about getting heat into the spare rooms. I have had problems with distribution of heat in the house for 10 years. They explained everything about dampers and put a new one in a few days later. When they were doing the maintenance they also noticed that my humidifier was not working. I had them replace that too. What a huge difference! This is the most comfortable winter I have had in 10 years! They were on time, returned calls in a timely manner, laid down cloth to protect the floor, and cleaned up. You know what else? The light in my utility closet broke. They bought me a new light, installed it and would not accept payment. These guys know customer service and they go above and beyond.

Recent Review: I had some complaints which I listed in my previous review. They refunded the $189 fee that I had disputed. But I must add this in their favor--last night DTE's power went out, and the whole-house battery kicked in flawlessly. Despite the bumps with the install and air conditioner repair person, when I needed the system to work, it worked flawlessly. Original Review: I am posting this review to warn people against contracting with Oak Electric of Waterford, MI. Monday 6/1 I turned on my central air for the first time and found that the condenser would not turn on, so I phoned Oak Electric. I called Oak Electric because in January I had hired them to install some solar panels on my roof. They botched the installation (this will likely be the subject of a second complaint next week; they still have not fixed the botched solar installation), and I suspected that they made a wiring mistake that broke my ac condenser. I was wrong in this specific suspicion, but correct to feel suspicious about Oak Electric's competence. Oak Electric sent a repair person. The repair person told me that the fault was a defective control panel. The repair person said that since the brand was Nordyne, it was not worth his time to find the part, but he wished me luck and charged me $189. After several hours of searching I found the part, and phoned a local air conditioning repair company to ask them to purchase the part and install it (I could not purchase the part myself because the seller, RH Townsend of Warren, MI, will only sell to licensed mechanical contractors). Thankfully, the other representative was competent. Instead of purchasing the part he instead came to my house to look at the condenser. First he tested the control panel and told me that it was working correctly. He then tested the unit for freon and found it was almost empty; the control panel was not allowing the device to turn on because the freon was low. In other words, the information I received from the Oak Electric technician was false. The control panel was not broken; to the contrary, it was working as designed. The representative stated flatly that any competent ac technician sent to diagnose a non-working condenser would check the freon level, and that failing to check the freon level and charging $189 for the visit was ridiculous. The Oak Electric technician was incompetent and in no way deserving of his $189 payment. I asked Oak Electric to refund my $189, and they have not replied. I would like Oak Electric to refund the $189 I paid for their useless, worthless, incompetent anti-service. I'm not holding my breath.

Recent Review: Some days you are just lucky. Back in January 8, 2018 I called 3 boiler furnace recommendations from Angie’s list and Anthony Garrish at Custom Temperature said he was certain they would be interested and a boiler heating expert would contact me promptly. Three hours later MO KLANG called and repaired the furnace immediately with the parts on his truck. MO's work was superior to excellent. Boiler furnaces in residential homes are not that numerous and after 30 years of experience with heating companies who " oh yes we service boiler furnaces" but really possess a minimum superficial knowledge MO is truly a craftsman. And even more good news his prices are competitive with the others. We were lucky to get an outstanding company and employees .

Recent Review: Boiler was not performing well enough to heat house. Technician came out and diagnosed problem as defective switch, ordered it and returned two days later to install. Boiler appears to be functioning adequately, but it's temperature gauge reads very low. Technician returned (no charge) and diagnosed the problem as a bad gauge. I choose not replace the gauge because it requires draining and refilling the boiler which would be very expensive. I will wait and see how the boiler performs. The technician was very knowledgable, polite and friendly. I enjoyed working with him.

Recent Review: Jim came out to repair my gas boiler. He was very knowledgeable and professional. He had my boiler repaired and working in a couple hours and was fair on the price. Will definitely hire him again.

Recent Review: The first visit from was Florent, who was very knowledgable about radiator boilers (mine is a pressure type with one exhaust in the basement). After checking electrical and gas connections, it was clear the electrical switcher to open gas to the furnace was not responding. Initial idea was to replace the furnace ($$$). I paid nothing at the conclusion of the visit, and was to await a response from Mr. Templin (owner). Mr. Templin then called within 1-2 days later and arranged a personal visit, as he explained steam boilers are often reparable. Having located a replacement electric switch for natural gas boilers, Mr. Templin replaced the switch, and also replace the 30 year-old thermostat for under one thousand dollars. A significant savings over a boiler replacement. They know their trade and you will be delighted.
