I had a raccoon that tore up couple of my foundation vents and decided to move in to my crawlspace. I called Atticare to come by to assess the damage and make any necessary repairs, especially if the raccoon was still living under the house. I received a prompt call from the Atticare office after submitting my request on their website, and a representative came out a couple days later. I wished him luck after he geared up and wiggled his way into the crawlspace. After about 5-10 minutes, he crawled back out and gave me the thumbs-up. Apparently, the raccoon didn't build a nest, and everything looked clean. He suggested that I should just go in the crawlspace myself and install mesh on the broken vents since no other work was really needed. I thanked him for his time, and then he was off. I appreciate Atticare's promptness and honesty.

Not good. They claimed they were certified to remove asbestos but were not. In the process of removing the material, they spread it in every room of my house through the heating registers located in the ceiling that they removed but did not tape. We had to move out of our house for more than a month and had to discard much of our furniture, appliances, and personal items. What a horrible experience!

Our family has stayed silent about the terrifyingly negligent service provided by Atticare nearly three years ago, but upon finding out that OUR NEIGHBORS (see recent post by Deborah) RECENTLY HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE WITH THIS COMPANY, and that it is still ongoing, I feel compelled to finally post a review. We hired Atticare to remove ASBESTOS from our attic, and rather than abiding by what they promised us prior to starting the job, they took NO SAFETY PRECAUTIONS. We came home near the end of the job to find that they did not seal off rooms as had been promised, none of their workers were wearing safety gear and they spread asbestos into every room of our home through the heating vents installed in our ceiling. THEY RAN A LEAKY HOSE THROUGHOUT OUR HOME AND INTO OUR NEIGHBORHOOD. Turns out, they LIED ABOUT THEIR CREDENTIALS and were NOT QUALIFIED TO DEAL WITH ASBESTOS anyway. When we contacted Atticare, Zach's local manager immediately admitted that they botched the job. However, ZACH REFUSED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for the debacle. Because of the asbestos contamination (verified by air quality testing), our family (including our toddler children) had to MOVE OUT OF OUR RESIDENCE FOR MORE THAN A MONTH, dispose of all contaminated household items (think appliances with fans, rugs, couches, mattresses, and many many irreplaceable personal items), conduct multiple rounds of air quality sampling (both for us and for our very concerned neighbors), perform a professional top to bottom remediation of our home, and pay several thousand dollars in lawyer fees. There were several months of back-and-forth communication with Zach and his company to come to a settlement that ONLY PARTIALLY COMPENSATED US for this disaster. Needless to say, we are forever scarred from the experience, and will never be certain that our family was not exposed to lethal asbestos levels due to Atticare's negligence. Upon finding out that after all of this, Atticare has potentially tainted our neighbors home, we are incredibly upset. Please take note of this review, and AVOID ATTICARE AT ALL COSTS if you value your health, safety, and sanity. The sales person that visits your home the first time says all the right things to make you feel confident that the job will get finished safely but the workers that arrive to do the work are uninformed and improperly trained. And the original salesman is nowhere to be seen. For more than 6 months Zach claimed the company was on the verge of bankruptcy and/or closing due to financial problems and because of this could not pay us for the things we lost during this nightmare experience. He, and the company he runs, clearly only care about money. Their customers health and safety are clearly not important.

They did the advertised services. Quite professional. Did not try to up sell. They also knew I was not interested in additional services.

Our attic was inspected by Ariel. He showed us what he found and what he recommended to bring our attic up to current code. Our attic space was only 900 sq. ft. All phases of the project were shown to us before the next phase was started. We were happy to have all the work completed in one day.

Luis Gutierrez and his team were on time and worked very efficiently. Explained the detailed what they did and provide valuable recommendation. The whole team worked very hard and finish on time.

When we discovered that we had rodents in our home (attic, crawl space), walls, we thought we could get rid of them with an exterminator but if you do this, they will just come back. I called up to have someone come and out and take a look and this was step #1. Jay gave me a thorough idea of the issue(s) and how much it would cost to get our spaces cleaned and sealed (just an FYI, it is not cheap to have this done but will comment on that in a moment.) It's just shocking at first to find out how much it costs to "rodent proof" your home. Anyway, we set a date and Elmer and his crew (of 5) came out and spent the ENTIRE day cleaning out our attic, putting in new insulation, sealing off all potential rodent entries and then did the same in the crawl space, Elmer and squad worked sooo hard all day and I then realized why the cost is greater than you first may anticipate. I truly felt we got our money's worth and I was very impressed with the work and professional attitude this group of guys maintained the entire day. All of my questions were answered and I feel confident that if I do have any issues in the future, they Jay will make sure they get resolved. Good company, great service.

Ian and his team are very professional. They punctual and cleaned up after themselves every day while working on my attic and crawl space.

I was planning to re-roof my house (to remove existing wood shake shingles and replace with CertainTeed Presidential Triple Laminate (TL) composition shingles installed by Signature Roofing), and wanted to install new insulation in the attic as part of the renovation process. I originally planned to hire another insulation company, but quickly discovered that the only thing that company did was install new insulation; they did not provide any services to prepare the attic for new insulation. There was clear evidence of rodents hanging out in my attic, so I needed a service that would remove the existing insulation, clean up all debris including rodent droppings, and then install the new insulation when the conditions were 'right.’ And that's EXACTLY what Atticare did. Aaron Azran from Atticare came to my house to give me an estimate. After he arrived, he gowned up and crawled through the attic space to visually inspect the attic and determine how much batt insulation would be needed. He took photos while he was up there, noting a few locations where rodent droppings were particularly bad. After seeing the condition of my attic in the photos (which corroborated the noises that I've been hearing for a couple years during cooler months), it became apparent that I needed to do more than just lay new insulation on top of existing, rodent-infested insulation. So I decided to cancel the service from the insulation installation company that I was originally planning to use and decided to use Atticare instead. For me, there was tremendous value in working with a company that could provide ALL of the services that I needed vs. trying to piecemeal together services from multiple companies in order to get the end result that I was seeking: a clean, rodent-proofed attic with new insulation. In addition to providing end-to-end attic cleaning, rodent-proofing, and insulation services, Aaron from Atticare went above and beyond the call of duty when a situation emerged after the roofers removed the existing wood shake roof from a cathedral ceiling (w/o an attic space beneath). From above, I was able to see evidence of rodent droppings in that area, and couldn’t fathom the thought of installing a brand new roof on top of that mess, so I called Aaron to explain the situation to him. Within a day, he had arranged for a couple of guys to come to my house on a SUNDAY to remove the existing insulation, vacuum all of the debris and rat droppings between the rafters, disinfect, and install new batt insulation to prepare the area in the cathedral ceiling for installation of the new roof the very next day. Aaron’s problem solving and can-do attitude to make it happen in such a limited time frame was exceptional. Two guys from Atticare, Francisco and Ario, showed up on a hot Sunday and proceeded to remove the existing insulation, vacuum the area, disinfect and install new insulation. It was very hot outside and they were wearing protective suits, but they were both exceptionally pleasant, and GOT IT DONE. Francisco was exceptionally service-oriented, making sure everything was completed to my satisfaction. After the new roof was installed, Atticare returned to my home, accessing the attic through an interior hatch, and removed the existing insulation in the accessible attic space, vacuumed debris including rodent droppings, disinfected and installed new batt insulation. When the work was nearly done, Aaron showed up at the property to make sure everything was done per specification and to my satisfaction. Atticare provided exceptional end-to-end service and demonstrated exceptional resourcefulness and a can do attitude to do what it took to address my needs. They were exactly what I needed given the nature of my re-roofing project and couldn’t be more pleased with the end result.

Please see above. Atticare SF Team met and exceeded, in most cases, my expectations. They were very flexible about doing what needed to be done and proudly showing what they had done. They did excellent work.

It turned out okay. He gave us a lot of suggestions that we thought were going to be very expensive so we decided not to have the work done at that time. He said we needed more insulation than what we had both under and above the house. He was quite a salesman. He told us that we could hear from other companies that might help us with issues that we have with the place. After that, we started getting phone calls which I'm not sure are from their company or others. We felt a little high pressured. He did what he was hired to do.

No rodent proofing was performed. Rather they gave me a quote to have work done for installation. The guy was really nice, but quotes are free. I paid for a quote. Not happy with purchase

See above. I expected more based on the ad on Angie's List. I thought the ad was somewhat misleading. It was a useful service but I will have to spend more on additional services to keep rats away from my house.

Aaron was on time, informative, helpful.

It all went great. Crew was outstanding I just had another job done by AttiCare. This time I had their estimator David Katz. Bid on removal and clean up. Sealing for rats and all new R19 insulation. Hey also placed a vapor barrier over most of the area. I can't believe when I look at some of the low ratings placed on Angie's list for this great company. The crew led by Ricky worked until 8:00 pm to remove all the rat Infested insulation, wood and other debris and then started the hard task of working in crawl space installing Kraft faced R 19 insulation. They sealed multiple entry holes. This has was built in 1860 and presented many challenges for the crew. This is the second time I used Atticare in the last Couple months. They have earned a customer for my next projects in my rentals and commercial projects. These fine young men worked so hard, I went out and bought them a full course barbecue meal from a great Los Gatos restaurant. I read some reviews and can't believe some people expect to get their job done for 99 dollars . Their estimate alone is a very In depth detailed process and is a great insight to what condition your attic or crawl space is in . It is with the highest recommendations that I give Atticare 5 stars. Again, quality cost money, and their prices are fair. The finished project is quality. I don't usually make these types of recommendations without a 100 percent feeling that a company exceed my expectations. First class company, great crews and fair price. I hope you have the opportunity to use them for your job . You won't be disappointed !!

Prompt, professional. I liked the guy who came over and inspected. But it appeared to me that the Big-Deal primarily involved getting a quote. Then why did I spend $99? Even if I had called Attic Care or another company just for a quote for insulation, etc., I could gt it (the quote) without spending the $99. In fact, I have another quote from an insulation company without spending the $99. It would much more meaningful if what is done in big deal involces more than inspecting and giving a quote. There should be some service provided. Nonetheless, the company representative who came was timely, professional and did a good job.

Customer Service was fine. Provider was punctual. A little sketchy in that he offered a lower price if I completed a follow up service in the next couple of days. He left me his cell so I could call him direct instead of going through the main office. I thought the estimate was a little high for what we wanted to do, and I was uncomfortable with the approach regarding the extra discount.

This was a $99 big deal purchase. Everything went fine. They found problems with the insulation so I had them replace the insulation in the attic. The workers who came out were good. They did a good job cleaning up.

The "Deal" states: - Air sealing inspection to measure the level of air infiltration to your home from attic gaps and cracks How do you _measure_ the level of air infiltration without a blower door? It is impossible, that's how. The companies response to this was "AttiCare does not use a Blower Door as we do not provide that service. A Blower Door is used to determine air loss from doors and or windows in the home and AtticCare only specializes in Crawlspace's to determine heat loss". The "Deal" also states: "Inspecting air leaks from A/C unit, air ducts and recess lights" A very quick visual inspection was performed of the AC ducting, but the tech was primarily focusing on the level of insulation. But again, how do you inspect air leaks from recess lights if you cannot see them due to insulation covering them? How do you know there is an air leak or not unless the home is placed under negative pressure? The "Deal" states: "If weather conditions allow, an infrared camera scan thermal analysis (outdoor temperature dependent) assesses conditioned and unconditioned locations in home for convective, conductive, and radiant energy loss" How is this performed when the technician is sent _without_ tools? He came equipped with a ladder and head lamp and his cell phone as a camera. The verbal recommendation by the technician was to install radiant barrier...until I told him that this would simply be putting a band-aid on the situation and not actually addressing the problem or concern. To address the lack of thermal camera, the company did offer to reschedule. Thanks, but no thanks. Your advertisement does not live up to what your company actually performs, that in conjunction with sending techs out to a site without the necessary tools to perform the job.

I am writing this review after having Atticare finish a very challenging and difficult project. I have been a Firefighter for 34 years. I have been in many attics and crawlspaces, and must admit that my attic was in need of major TLC. My home was built in 1886. It is a Two story Victorian and the attic had rodents, old wood and the insulation was in need of replacement. As a member of Angies list, and under Yelp and the Better Business Bureau I spent a great deal of time searching for the right company. I obtained 4 Bids for the project. Atticare came out on top for many reasons. First off their price was competitive. Their estimator/Technician David K. Meet with me and gave me a history and background on their company. He then spent 45 minutes in my attic and crawl space. He dressed in clean overalls to start the inspection. When he came down from the attic he changed into his clean clothes and meet me in my kitchen. He showed my around 20 plus pictures and videos of my attic. He explained Atticare?s process. David was a wealth of knowledge on rodent behavior and was very low pressure sale. He was extremely helpful and by far the best salesperson/technician of all the companies I interviewed. I signed the contract and was ready to go. It was an easy decision to choose Atticare. And No, I do not work for them, or have been asked to write a review. The company called me the night before to remind me of the appointment on Friday November 27, 2015. The workers called me at 0900 am and advised that they would be at my house by 0930. They showed up on time and with a helpful friendly attitude. The crew was led by Melisio and consisted of a total of four technicians. Melisio, Elder, Keller and Idario arrived in a large Box Truck and went right to work. They placed plastic on all walkways in the house and covered the walls. Their preparation was outstanding. They removed all the old insulation in the attic, vacuumed the complete area with large outdoor industrial vacuums. There were over 70 bags of insulation and old Ductwork that they removed. They cleaned out old wood and debris that was over 130 years of accumulation. This itself was impressive. All during the process, Melisio kept me informed of their progress. They completed the cleanup with small vacuums and removed every last bit of debris and rodent droppings. At this point I went into the attic and was amazed at what they accomplished. The next step was rodent proofing with galvanized wire mesh and expansion foam. They covered in excess of 30 areas. (They started in the crawl space under the house, and worked into outdoor areas and finally the attic. At this point they took a short break, and I brought them a meal of Barbequed Chicken, Beans, and bread. (I believe that it is important to treat workers on your residence as guests). At this point, they were right back to work and disinfected the entire attic, and under the house. They then started the process of installing R 38 insulation throughout the large attic area. They completed all this work in 8 hours. When they were finished they cleaned up all the inside of the house, outside and all work areas. I can only say one word as for the company? Impressive. If you are looking for a company that does a 5 star job, they are the one to pick. I will be sending this review to the company, Angies list and Yelp. I have seen many coupons for $ 99.00 for an attic clean up, and must laugh. If you want quality and a first class job pick Atticare. 99.00 covers a company that checks your attic and sets traps. The old adage you get what you pay for is true. I will recommend to my fellow firefighters, Friends and family to use this company in the future. From my initial meeting with David K to the end process I am left feeling very positive on my selection of Atticare.

They sent a crew and we're done in one morning. Everything seems fine.

I had made an appointment with Atticare. They came out and gave me an estimate for a complete rodent proofing including sealing out rodents and insulation replacement. Was quoted $12 thousand. I decided to just do the attic clean up so I called and made an appointment for just the attic clean up which I had a coupon for $65 They came out and refused to do the service unless I did a complete rodent proofing. The attic clean up was just for vacuuming waste and removing any dead animals. They refused to honor their coupon and the appointment they committed to. I had taken a day off of work to have this completed. The service guy said it was too much work for the money. I called the company to discuss the situation and have not had any of my calls returned. Don't run a promotion if you wont honor it.

I was really pleased with how professional they were. They were friendly and polite and left the house cleaned and everything put away. Considering the amount of old insulation they removed, there was hardly any dust. Nico was great at letting me know where they were in the process. They even taped the AC ducts where old tape had fallen off- which wasn't part of the job. Great job!
