+ 2 moreThe work all went great. We easily passed all our inspections and we're very happy with our experience with Walter. The only drawback is that now that he's in the full-time plumber game, he has a lot of service calls that can take him away from his schedule and there were times we had to wait for him to be available. That's the only reason for the 'B' in punctuality, but I think that's the price you pay when you find someone who is great at what they do. Walter is a great guy who will go far beyond what is expected of him. I recommend him highly.
Description of Work: Walter ended up being the plumber on our bathroom remodel. We added a second sink, removed a built-in shower and converted our tub to a tub/shower combo. Walter was great to work with and his Handy Man background really came in handy when I had questions about the parts of the job I was doing myself. He was great about answering my questions on any topic & when he wasn't sure about the answer he knew who to call to get the answer. He made every part of the remodel easier for me and even went down to the DBI with me to help pull the permits for the job. He truly goes far beyond what you expect from a plumber.

+ -1 moreWalter immediately explained that I'm a bit out of the location in SF that he does work for, however he proceeded to ask questions and provide advice for solutions. Walter spent 20 minutes with me on the phone and was extremely helpful and pleasant. I only wished I lived closer so I could use him!
Description of Work: I had a list of handyman work that I inquired about: garage door opener, patching hole in ceiling, painting, roofing, and faucet.

Description of Work: Walter did a bunch of little chores that I couldn't do myself. He replaced a broken window pane, put up a handrail and built a short one that matched some I already had. He plugged a mouse hole, filled some holes in the wall, and smoothed up a wretched gate. I had a few other things I asked him about which he persuaded me didn't really need to be done.

Description of Work: Walter looked at our home for a few projects that needed to be done, including electrical work, replacement of a bathroom shower enclosure, and installation of exterior stair railings. He gave us advise as to what work was required and provided us with contact information for specific contractors that he thought were good / fairly priced / trustworthy. Walter was knowledgeable and highly professional. He did not charge us for anything, including the visit. We are now working with the contractors to complete the needed work.

Description of Work: Walter Bernhardt has been my handyman in the Sunset/Parkside district for 7 years. Me and other retired friends have passed his phone number around as a trusted resource for many home repairs. He has done painting, small electric and plumbing repairs and recently installed a stair railing on my back porch. Now that he has a contractors license we have discussed adding a bathroom in my downstairs garage.

+ -1 moreContractor looked at wood balcony and saw that it was rotted and gave estimate. Came and took off balcony and found more damage in wall. Fixed damaged wood. Hired subcontractor to put in new stucco painted front of building. Installed wrought iron balcony a week later.
Description of Work: Repaired dry rot on front wall of house and fixed stucco and painted.
