Westland Windows has been owned and run by David Newman for the past 29 years, specialising in replacement windows, doors and conservatories. A full design and building service is provided with each project. Current work includes conservatories, fascias, light weight tiled roofs and composite doors.

About Westland Windows
I studied for a degree in Design, Craft and Technology before teaching woodwork for nine years at a secondary school in Barnsley. Prefering to "do " rather than "teach" led me into to a number of areas including the building furniture, fitting kitchens and wardrobes, restoring antiques and the Pvc industry. After nine years at school I left to become self employed in the double glazing industry, working for a number of companies before setting up my own company, Westland Windows. This I have organised and run since the start and have covered a whole range of building and joinery projects.
Over the years we have fitted thousands of windows, hundreds of conservatories and countless sun lounges. Recent work has included extensions, orangeries and general building and refurbishment work.
My approach has always been "hands on" and means each job is "mothered" by me to ensure a quality product and a satisfied customer. Naturally all the necessary skills of running a company including employing staff, pricing, selling and organising work are part of my daily routine.
My own personal technical skills are naturally in the joinery department although I have worked happily alongside the brick layers, electricians and plumbers for many years. Project managing the work has been my daily routine now for several years with a simple goal for each job.... a quality product and a satisfied customer.
This is my 2nd year working with My Builder, having previously been in various directories, and have found that the nature of the website works extremely well. Particular the ability of potential customers to screen our profile/reviews prior to inviting use to quote for projects, afterwards giving their own personal feedback on the quality of our work.
Qualifications
My basic qualifications consist of :-
School.......Seven O' levels, two A levels.
Teacher training college..........Dip. H. E... Batchelor Ed. Design, Craft and Technology.
Nine years teaching.
25 years running company.

As a company, both my staff and I have performed and developed many skills over the years. These skills have allowed us to combine both traditional techniques along with the use of modern skills, and provide a quality service on both specialised and uniform jobs. Below are the several skills and techniques we are trained in:
Carpentry and Joinery:
Firstly I am a time served joiner covering the whole range from designing and building bespoke furniture to general work on building houses involving the construction of roofs, interior doors and complex structures.
Windows and Conservatories:
I have been involved in every aspect of the Double Glazing industry from surveying ,designing, organising and the fitting of windows, doors, conservatories, sunlounges and orangeries.
Building work:
I have worked on extensively in the building trade alongside other tradesmen learning the skills of plumbing, bricklaying, plastering, and electrics. These are incorporated into my daily routine when managing building projects.
Specialism’s:
Along with all the general work we undertake we specialise in the use of using modern specialised skills and techniques to fit and build windows, doors, conservatories, etc. with a traditional appearance. This has led to several traditional skills and techniques being adopted which allows us to install modern mouldings and architraves to match old skirting’s and the period of the building.
In addition to all the standard installation of uPVC products we do, we specialise in vertical sliders a unique design that is relatively new to the market. Vertical sliders are a unique design that brings together modern window technology with a traditional Georgian appearance.
Roofing and Lead work:
As a company we also specialise in the installation and the renovation of lead work on roofs, chimneys and bay canopies.
Running a Company:
Finally I have run my own company for 25 years and this has included managing and organising a workforce. Selling, surveying, ordering and managing all my projects both large and small. This has given me a great deal of experience in dealing with staff, suppliers and customers.
