  • Air Control Mechanical

"My HVAC unit was 20 years old needed consistent repair, and my ducks where leaking. It was time for a new unit. I also wanted to relocate the condenser to improve my back yard space. I had gotten 4 quotes before someone referred me to http://www.aircmechanical.com/ Vitor was literally the first smart person to offer a quote. He suggested relocating the condenser to a side of the house and changing it to a suitcase type unit. He also came up with the creative solution of adding a 2nt inlet in another part of the house to reduce noise and improve airflow. The other contractors wanted to enlarge and or relocate the existing inlet which would have been an ugly mess. I now have an extremely efficient 2 stage unit installed correctly and he beat the other quotes. Entire product was completed in 2 days. I couldnâ t be happier. "

  • Supreme Plumbing and Heating, Inc.

"Recently, I had a very good experience with Akida and Amili Harrison of Supreme Plumbing and Heating involving both plumbing and heating problems. I found them on and verified their quality through Yelp reviews. My initial call to them was to fix a toilet which was running water into the tank in the back nonstop. They gave me an arrival time range, kept in touch by text and arrived early in the time window. The toilet needed a new valve, which they purchased and installed. Since the Yelp reviews mostly discussed HVAC problems, I decided to ask about a problem with my heater. It was not igniting. They found out the heater kept skipping a step in the ignition sequence. This turned out to be an easy fix. Since two important problems were quickly solved, I decided to ask a question about how a shower could be installed in a half Bath in the future. After taking a look at the existing plumbing and how it came into the house, Akida and Amili gave me a creative solution. The Harrisons proved very knowledgable about both plumbing and heating. They gave me helpful, creative solutions. Absolutely, I recommend them for both plumbing and HVAC problems."

  • California Heating and Cooling

"I HIGHLY! HIGHLY! Recommend this company!!! We met with several different heating & cooling businesses to get bids on replacing our 27 year old system. We decided to go with this company because we really liked the way Sean Henson inspected our old system and presented different options for us. He was very thorough in his explanations and answered every question we had. There was no high pressure to buy the most expensive system or to buy at all which is always great when your trying to get bids. Their costs are competitive and reasonable. Once we chose this company our installation was scheduled within 2 weeks and because our place is only 1145sq.ft. took a day and a half. Alex and his hardworking crew did a phenomenal job on are very old system. There were a few things that had to be brought up to the current codes and everything was done well. After each day the crew made sure everything was cleaned up. What a difference this new System made. It runs so well now and every room is nice and cool or hot depending on the need. "

  • HVAC Guru

"Project: A damper needed to be installed between the furnace and one duct line leading from it. In order to make sure all registers fed by the duct line were controlled by the damper, it had to be positioned as high upstream as possible. The job was complicated by an unclear vision that this should have been the original plan. This was not entirely due to the technicians. The cost of the job was calculated based upon breaking into the ceiling and accessing a substantial amount of duct. After about 5 ft of ceiling was exposed, the owner realized that any dampers installed in the exposed duct would be too far downstream to control nearby upstream registers. The job was re-purposed at that point, with the help of a more experienced technician than the one who designed the original job. A small section of the ceiling much closer to the furnace was opened up, and a damper--designed and constructed by the experienced technician--was installed through a slit made in the duct. The damper could be controlled from the outside by a lever, and would be able to determine heat flow to the registers that had been providing too much heat to the affected bedroom. HVAC Guru reduced the job cost by 11.5% to reflect the reduction in labor from the original invoice. The technicians were courteous, responsive and professional. Administrative personnel were courteous, responsive and professional. Some detailing for the damper control, and testing under real conditions (winter weather) are all that remain for the experience to be considered completed."

A broken air conditioner on a hot summer day can turn a situation from uncomfortable to an emergency. If you detect a problem, begin troubleshooting immediately. Common problems include:

  • Faulty wiring - bad wiring can prevent the system from drawing the power it needs or it can cause the circuit breaker to trip.
  • Low refrigerant - your system could have a leak or it may just need to be recharged with refrigerant.
  • Outside fan not functioning - if the fan doesn't work, proper heat transfer cannot take place and the compressor can overheat. If this happens, damage to the compressor can occur or the safety overload could be tripped.
  • Outside unit not working - it could be due to quite a few factors
  • Frozen coil - a frozen coil usually means that there are dirty air filters or an obstructed return air duct
