Affordable Granite & Stone
1.0
Where do I start. We moved here from CA about a year ago. The home we purchased was in dire need of updating. We found AGand C using Angie's List and decided to give them a try. After all, they had a good rating and were only a few miles from our house. The first purchase was a small bathroom vanity top to the tune of $500. The experience was OK. Nothing extraordinary. Our second experience was a complete an utter disappointment. It goes something like this: 5/3 – We pick out the stone. 5/11 – We put a deposit down (they managed to lose). We’re told we’ll receive a call for an official measurement the following week. 5/13 – 5/20 - No one calls for the measurement. 5/20 – I call and leave a message requesting a measurement. 5/24 – I get a voice-mail from Jenna stating someone will call me to measure…she doesn't know the schedule…so she can’t tell me when. What's the point of this call besides confirming how disorganized you are? 5/27 – Jesse comes out to measure. Jesse tells me he'll put a rush on it. It should be installed early next week. 6/3 – Still no installation date. I call and ask to speak with the manager who’s and quot;not in.and quot; I leave yet another message. Three hours later I get a call back from Tim who tells me there is an opening tomorrow. No apology, no sympathy, no acknowledgement of my frustration. Just a simple here is your installation date. The timeline above proves how disorganized, chaotic, and careless this business is. Seriously, how can it take this long to get a 12 sq. ft. island installed at a property less than 2 miles from your business? Every time I look at my island I'm reminded how awful their service is. I would highly recommend finding another vendor for your cabinet/granite needs

Dobervich Stone
5.0
Dan did a great job of informing us about the products we could choose to replace our old laminate countertops. He had some granite that was perfect for a center island surface, as we wanted a contrast between that surface and the counters around the periphery of the room. It was obvious that he really knows the stone - its origins and composition. He helped us choose what has resulted in a stunning and beautiful kitchen. The installation was scheduled closely with our cabinet reface, so that the down time for the kitchen was minimized. On installation day, which was right on schedule, his professional team got everything installed exactly right. The crew members were articulate and could explain to us everything that they were doing. We are very happy to work with an artisan like Dan and pleased with the kitchen. We would definitely recommend him

Plumbline Builders
5.0
We were impressed with Plumbline from the start. Before bidding on the project, Roger brought in a plumber and an electrician to make sure that our plans for our 1921 house were possible and affordable. He and his team offered great advice as we worked out design and construction details. They respected our opinions and ideas, but weren't afraid to offer alternatives based on their deep knowledge and decades of experience. We did a complete remodel--down to the studs. Plumbline did the demo then put everything back together. Roger did an impressive job of managing the project, even as COVID-related supply-chain issues presented daily challenges. Plumbline changed the size of both windows, including adding a bay in one opening. They installed new doors and molding throughout. They coordinated installation of new cabinets, counters, floor, and appliances. They built two new closets. They rewired and installed new lighting. While they were at it, they also did a minor bathroom remodel, including installing new tile, sink, and other fixtures. They kept the dust and mess to a minimum, and made sure that the rest of our house remained livable. It truly felt like each and every member of the team was treating our home as they would their own. The best thing about Plumbline? Roger is an absolutely great guy. He responded to our many calls and texts quickly, he kept us updated on schedule changes and delays, and he was never, ever too busy to sit and review plans with us and answer our questions. He's smart, insightful, and a true professional. We plan to hire him for future projects, and we won't hesitate to recommend him to our family and friends

M & M COUNTER TOPS
1.0
The first mistake the fabricator made was miscutting one of the large (expensive) slabs of granite. They measured the large island incorrectly and cut the slab wrong. We were not able to get another slab of granite to match from the granite supplier so accepted them cutting a piece of the original slab to make an end piece for the island. This meant we had an additional seam in the island. The provider even incorrectly measured this piece and cut it wrong. It would have taken four months to get new granite which was unacceptable so we had to live with two pieces of granite in the island that had the incorrect overhang and an additional seam. To add insult to injury, the provider did not epoxy the seams correctly. We recently discovered all the seams in the island countertop and the pantry have come undone. They did not silicone any of the granite to the cabinets so all the countertops are loose and move. I had a different fabricator look at the problem and he discovered that granite dust on the seam cuts was not even wiped or cleaned off before they glued the seams. He also said they should have beveled the seams to allow a wider area at the bottom of the seams to accommodate more epoxy to strengthen the joint. He also pointed out that they only glued the top of the seam for about an 1/8 of an inch instead of the entire seam. I now have to have all the granite seams repaired. M & M Countertops also repeatedly did not return my calls (dozens), and when they did respond they promised to fix the problem but never followed up. Never ever use this company!!!! They should not be in business and it amazes me they still are

K2 Bath Deck & Kitchen
5.0
Our Minnesota kitchen remodeling project started with a home visit from our designer Teresa. She immediately understood the desired changes we wished to make. Teresa helped us choose quartz counter tops, provided an outstanding choice for our coordinating Italian backsplash, gave advice & helped us choose the best sink material and double sink ratio, faucet selection, new cupboard handles & hinges to give the current cupboards a coordinating & updated look. Teresa suggested removing an existing wood panel over a bay window area behind the sink & removing some cabinet trim with minor repairs to the wall & ceiling surrounding there to update the kitchen and add more light. This included removing the existing light fixture and installing a canned light instead. That small change opened up that part of the kitchen & looks excellent. We had some difficulties choosing which appliances to buy due to the existing space in which to place the refrigerator. Teresa was instrumental in getting us lined up with Alana, who was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, from Ferguson to choose all of our appliances, the brand chosen to fit the spaces available. The delivery of all new appliances and the removal of the old appliances by Ferguson was great. Our project manager for our kitchen was Paul from K2. Paul did an outstanding job from start to finish. He had all of the materials needed for the job delivered well ahead of time. Paul organized & perfectly timed the work of the sub contractors - plumbing, electrical, demolition, counter top installers, backspalsh installation, ceiling & wall repairs & painting. We added a major change to the main lighting fixture(s) over the island at the last minute & Paul immediately took charge to make it happen. Paul was always available to cheerfully answer questions via phone call, text or email and was always open to minor changes along the way. Dustin was the sub contractor who did the hands-on work of the demolition, backsplash installation, cupboard trim removal where necessary, and ceiling and wall repair around wood trim which was removed. Dustin removed a very large & ugly structure which hung from the high, vaulted ceiling and contained fluorescent lighting. He rebuilt the structure to less than half of the original size (with sheet rock) in order to give us access to new pendant lighting (chosen by Kathleen from Ferguson). The new lighting outcome gave the kitchen a very updated look. All of Dustin's work was meticulous. Every day, Dustin vacuumed up cleaned the area thoroughly. The entire kitchen remodeling was completed ahead of schedule. Our experience with the K2 team exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend K2 for kitchen and bath remodeling

Dercon Construction Services Inc
5.0
We decided to remodel our outdated kitchen finally.. After countless interviews with contractors, we finally found one that took the time to listen to what we wanted to do. Team Dercon was amazing from day one. Conner spent many hours listening to us and helping to bring our ideas to life. His creativity showed us what we have been envisioning. The schedule was laid out for us so we knew everyday who and what was going on in our home. In today's crazy world they were able to stay completely on time thu the entire project. The attention to detail was outstanding to say the least. The respect the team had in coming to our home was second to none. The communication on a daily basis from all involved made us feel very comfortable for the 6 weeks to start and complete our project. We highly recommend Dercon Construction, and will use them agai

To be honest I dreaded this project. But from our first visit with Greg our minds were put at ease. He was very friendly and professional. Answered all our initial questions and just made us feel comfortable. He and his crew made every step of the process as pain free as humanly possible considering this was during the pandemic and lock downs. I have to give a special shout out to his guys, Nate, Randy and Duane. A more knowledgeable and personable bunch to work with you couldn't ask for. We are just very happy with everything and would not hesitate to use them again or to recommend them to others

Swencraft
5.0
I am absolutely thrilled with everything that Swencraft provided throughout my remodel. From the time spent on the very initial phone call to the detailed proposal, thoughtful suggestions for my remodel, and their meticulous execution at every step of the way, Swencraft was impeccable. I am already looking forward to my next project with them
I was impressed with Sean from our first meeting on. He brought experience, professionalism, and thoughtful ideas to my project and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Sean is easy to communicate with and is the first one to address any issues. He cares about the work he does and it shows. This was the first time I took on such a large project and I’m thankful to have hired Sean and his team
We remodeled our basement in 2018 with FBC and the experience was so positive that we hired them to remodel our main level when we moved into our new home in 2021. With a project of this scope it was invaluable to have the initial design meetings to incorporate our vision with the designers ideas. This was followed by subsequent design meetings to meld the two. The 3D renderings are priceless in visualizing what different options will look like. Lindsay and Katie were able to get an idea of what our style was quickly and really helped elevate our original vision. They can manipulate the 3D renderings on the spot to see what different options would look like as well. Before the construction began we were given a very detailed timeline. Anytime there were changes or delays (which I have to say were minimal, especially with the supply chain and covid obstacles) we were notified and given almost daily updates on the progress. Communication is EXCELLENT with the design team and project managers. They are well organized and detail oriented. After the project was complete we had minor things that needed to be touched up and Nick was highly responsive and got the issues taken care of quickly. We have recommended many friends who have ultimately used FBC as well for their home projects and we will continue to do so! Thank you Lindsay, Katie, Gene, Nick and countless others for being so professional, reliable and good at what you do
We used Mark a little over a year ago for a full bathroom remodel. When we decided to do a full kitchen remodel we knew exactly who to call. We were so pleased with his work the first time we didn't seek out any additional bids. Our project got started a little later than we had anticipated but this was no fault of Marks. Our cabinet maker lost our order and wasn't ready on time. Mark took this problem in stride and started the job a month later when we were ready. Once we got started things moved along smoothly. Mark and his team are always one time, hard working and professional. We ran into a few minor problems but Mark always had a solution for us. Our kitchen turned out beautiful and we couldn't be more thrilled. When we decide to start our next project Mark will be our first and only call. If your looking for someone for your project that is honest, trustworthy and an all around great guy then give Mark a call. You will be as pleased with the outcome as we are. I can't forget to add that he's very pet friendly
We love the enthusiasm and resourcefulness of the Witts for envisioning the potential in our project for minimal cost. They are masters at finding good deals. They also went above an beyond their contract by adding last minute requests from us—so generous! As most construction projects go, the punctuality was lagging. There were also some issues with the painter they hired. Otherwise, we were very satisfied
I hired Avea for a kitchen remodel consultation and was extremely impressed by their style and creativity. I explained what I was looking for and they were able to show me several different concepts that I would never have imagined on my own. They also performed some tile work in one of my bathrooms and did a fantastic job. Their work is very professional and overall pricing was quite reasonable. I would absolutely recommend
We were first referred to Darren and his crew at Twin City Handyman in October of 2014 when we were in need of having a new patio door installed. TCH went and picked out the door, brought it to the house and installed it, saving us time and the headache of having to arrange it ourselves. They did such a great job we immediately planned to have them install a whole new front door unit (jamb, side window, transit and all) once we got the unit ordered and delivered. TCH ended up installing it on one of the coldest days that year. We were very pleased with their work and knew we had found our "go-to" handyman crew. Our next project was the moving of several light fixture outlet boxes in our kitchen and once done, the repair of the ceiling that had a few small staines due to a soda explosion and minor bathtub overflow from upstairs. Lester, the technician on duty for this and most of the other jobs, is an expert at, among other things, and we couldn't have been more pleased with the end result. He repaired the area and then re-popcorn sprayed the entire area. It looked brand new when he was done. We were also in the middle of a kitchen remodel at the time and had ordered a new oven-microwave combo. Because the size was different from our previous model, the cabinet had to be altered. I was probably more worried about this than I was about any other project, due to the fact that the kitchen is the most often used and visible area in our home, however, once again, the crew at TCH outdid themselves. The end result was that the cabinet looked great and any sign of alternation was almost microscopic. As stated, TCH has been our go-to for all of our projects since we discovered them, including the installation of both garage doors on our house that needed to be replaced due to major rusting. For all the jobs listed above, we are estimating the total cost of the service part of our bill to be around $4,0000-$5,000. That said, we have been more than please with our relationship with Darren, Lester and the crew at TCH. They are both professional and friendly. Darren has always been quick to get back to us about any questions we have had, and when we had the problem with the doors that shifted, they were quick to follow up and correct the problem. Without question, we would recommend Twin City Handyman to anyone who asked
We used SpaceTurtle for our kitchen remodel. They were, hands down, the best company to work for. We did extensive research prior to signing on the dotted line, and we are so glad we did. Before, during and after the project we felt like we were taken care of and they were only wanting what was best for us and our family. We have a house from the '50's so there were plenty of "challenges", let alone dealing with COVID and sub-contractors being unavailable. Cody and Marie took all avenues to make sure we were happy and ended up with a kitchen we absolutely adore. Marie had the personality that I needed to make me feel heard, and Cody is the hands behind the magic. He has high expectations for his own work, and the sub-contractors he hires. We have, and will always recommend SpaceTurtle for anyone looking for a contractor. Thanks to Marie and Cody for such a wonderful experience!!!
They did a great job, came when they said they would and we have an awesome new evolve stone fireplace surround in our master bedroom now. Good craftsmanship and timely completion of project, will be having them do more as we work through remodeling our house!
We hired Sue after we started our kitchen remodel and weren't sure what to do with our new smaller hearth room. We also needed help picking out the paint colors. Sue had a lot of great ideas for that room and every other room in the house. She put together a book for our home re-design and I'm really excited to get started on it
It went very well; Paul came when he said he would. He worked diligently and did a great job. He was very thorough in cleaning up after the project ended. English is not his first language but we were able to communicate very well. I hired Creative Tile Services based upon other reviews on Angie's List and am glad I did. His bid was by far the best and I am very happy with how my bathroom turned out
I made an appointment for a toilet to be installed after a flooring replacement and to replace four valves located under two bathroom sinks and one valve located under the kitchen sink. At the time of making the appointment, I was informed the labor rate is $154 per hour. The plumber called at 12:10 informing me he was on his way. The plumber arrived at the jobsite at 12:20 and left the jobsite at 13:40. I expected the billable time would be 1.5 hours max (12:10 to 13:40) but I was charged 2.0 hours. After receiving the bill, I complained and at that time I was informed I had to pay travel time from the plumber’s previous job to the plumber’s next job after mine. Be aware that you are paying both travel times at $154 per hour, so when you make an appointment with Richfield Plumbing, make sure you understand where the plumber is coming from and going to. If the plumber is coming from or going across town, that could be costly.) Even though I did specify a toilet install at the time of making the appointment, the plumber could not install the tank because he did not come with the rubber gasket that goes between the tank and the bowl. Even though I was charged $10 for shop supplies, I had to provide the Teflon tape and plumber’s putty since that would have meant a ‘trip to the truck’(at $154 per hour). The valves, wax rings, and bolts are $55.79 retail at Home Depot. I was charged $116.27. This is more than double Home Depot’s retail price. If want your savings account drained and your plumbing problem fixed, call Richfield Plumbing. If you just want your plumbing problem fixed, look elsewhere
We used CK Tile & Stone. They did a wonderful job and went above and beyond in putting things back and even fixing some minor items (like hanging closet doors straight, and replacing hoses on the toilet.) Chris was great to work with, as well as, his workman.

What do customers in Saint Paul say about Kitchen Island Installation?
This project was clean and fast with minimal upset to our day to day living during our time without a kitchen. We were held up for a while due to waiting for our countertop but Phil was quick to respond to any concerns or questions we had during entire project. He even build a custom korbel for our island countertop overhang using some leftover trim and spacer material. We were impressed with how well Phil coordinated work with the electrician and the flooring company we used. All our permits were approved without a hitch. He's a true craftsman and we now have the kitchen of our dreams.
