The job was very well done. The technician showed up on time and got right to working on inspecting the HVAC system. After he finished his inspection he explained what he did then asked me if I had any questions about the system. Since I am new to taking care of a home, I had questions about the filter replacements. He showed me how to do it and even taught my 10 year old a thing or two about the system! Terrific service and I appreciate the advice too. I would definitely hire again

Massmann was the low bidder, they got the work done on time and within budget but the system is not performing to spec. Every time they come out to try to get the system to run within specification, they send a bill even though it should still be covered under warranty. It is near impossible to get them to come out to do service work and they charge an arm and a leg for anything after the original install. I would not recommend

His office staff was responsive when I had questions about the types of filters and how to get them. Jason even made himself available when there were issues with the dual fuel meter and even went above and beyond to get those issues resolved even though they weren't his to solve. I asked Standard to do three bids for me: geothermal, heat pump and conventional. They were very thorough in the evaluation and estimation process. I expected that the geothermal would be too expensive for me and it was. There is a great tax credit for geothermal, but it would still be a lot of money to spend at one time (approx $30,000). I asked MANY questions of my sales rep (Kellie) and she was great about answering them all. I opted for a heat pump with a gas furnace backup. This gives me full house AC as well as being more energy efficient for heating. The installation took less than a day and was very nicely done. They even patched a hole in my ductwork that had been made by a duct cleaing company. All of the people that I dealt with at Standard were great. Even though their price was higher than the other companies who bid, I like the fact that they have been in business so long and stand behind their work. I know if I have a problem in the middle of a cold January night, Standard will be there to help me. One tip that I got from a different vendor was to spend money on additional insulation rather than geothermal. That was a great suggestion, and I ended up doing that too

Very professional installation. It did take a little longer than expected but it wasn't the fault of Air Mechanical. The well drillers were late in showing up because of the late spring putting them behind on a prior job, but once they arrived everything went together quickly. We have been using the new system for a year now and it performed well during one of the coldest winters on record. I'm sure that we saved a lot in energy costs compared to the old system that we had. It also cools the house very efficiently in the summer

.While I appreciate their efforts to build on the previous plumbers creation of piping on top of my hot water heater, I really regret they didn't use the two side plugs on the side of the water heater which specifically are labeled, "for heating connections only." The return lines to the in floor heat exchanger dump 72 degree water into the top of the hot water heater diluting the heat of the hot water system. Use of the side connections to the hot water heater would've returned the 72 degree water to the BOTTOM of the hot water heater and resulted in better hot water efficiency and not disrupting the temp of the hot water; depending on if the system was engaged in heating the floor or idle. Also it would've eliminated the problems I've had with my hot water recirc pump creating a straining noise on the recirc piping check valve (it makes the flow go backwards.). I would've expected people with this much experience in this field to recognize and recommend a better course of action regarding the piping of this system. After all this was my first time doing this and I was relying on the professionals who've turn many setup to advise me on the best way to pipe this system. Most infuriating, the guy who runs this company has not returned my calls asking for additional help (either under warranty or just charging me - I just need a supply and a return pipe rerouted to the side of the hot water heater). So......NO POST INSTALLATION SERVICE IS AVAILABLE FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!! - at least not for me. Finally, their original estimate of the just was about 850 bucks, but because they were unable to anticipate problems with the piping setup, they had to return twice which resulted in additional costs. I PAID IT for the two additional trips (1300 Bucks total) because I wanted to establish a relationship with this company should I need service on this system in the future. What a waste of money. If they had used the ports of the hot water heater intended for radiant system heating the job could've been covered for the original quote of $850. Now I'll probably have to pay someone two to four hundred bucks to reroute piping!!! Pretty disappointed in these guys and would never recommend using them especially since they never return their calls

When we had our inspection, the inspector commented on how Troy always does the work the way it should be done. His pricing is very fair. He?s a very likable guy, and I have a tremendous amount of respect for him. Troy and the people that work with him are all quite good! Al did most of the electrical work for the geothermal heating system. The quality of work is absolutely worth what he charges. It?s a tremendous value

I could not speak more highly of Better Air. Our project went as perfect as it could have. Our Geo systems are separate from each other and were older, "first generation" ones. First one, then the other, crashed in December and January. We chose Better Air based primarily on recommendations of other professionals (their reputation is THAT strong among their peers), but also on the strength of the reviews here on Angie's List. Their representative, Tom W., visited and assessed our needs, making a couple visits to make sure all aspects and options were addressed. We debated switching to LPG and Tom provided detailed estimates and options for that. We decided to stick with GT and Tom, once again, was extremely detailed and thorough on the estimate and plan of work. They even advised and assisted on the various rebates and tax incentives, that - in the back-end - will bring our investment down to about $18,000 (about the cost of switching the entire system to LPG/electric HVAC). Once the units arrived, the installers spent several days in sub-zero weather making the switch. Some electrical and a little plumbing needed to re-routed and they did a great, fast job of it. Everyone involved was courteous, on time, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful in explaining the work, making recommendations or answering questions. They cleaned up after each work day and let us know what the next day would bring. A few weeks after installation, we needed a small adjustment, as a joint had developed a small leak. We called and they were out the very next morning and repaired it. I will use them again in a second, and will absolutely recommend them to others

Communication, responsiveness, and willingness to work with my particular situation was very good initially. I had a few breaks in timeline where I needed to wait until the next phase was to be completed, so the scheduling was more difficult than normal. There was an issue with a subcontractor nicking one of the loop lines which caused some issues with the system later, but there have been other issues unrelated to the loop field such as improper condensation drain installation, and a circuit board failing in the heat pump. Ductwork installers were also very friendly and did a good job at execution, but the planning was sorely lacking. There are two main trunk lines coming off the air handler, but one of them is straight out the top (more direct pressure) and the other off the side. That would be fine in itself, if the supply lines were balanced off of this concept (more connected to the one with higher pressure), but that's not the case, resulting in very imbalanced pressure at various supply runs throughout the house. In fact, I needed to request that the installers make it less out of balance than it already was. The best thing to say about this company is their repair person, Jon. He's exceptional, albeit busy - Jason needs to clone him for the installations. He's always responsive, explains everything, and bottom line - gets it fixed. This is more of an indictment on geothermal, but the savings have not been nearly as good as anticipated (or advertised - Jason said it'd be a 10 yr breakeven point, which won't be even close to happening). The compressor is a power hog and comes on quite often. Granted, I have a leaky house built in the 60s, but I have the same utility bills as I did with gas (with the same lack of insulation)

I even talked directly to the administrator and she said he would call me. Again nothing happened! I finally gave up. Amanda in the office was quick and knowledgeable, and explained how to set up 18-month interest-free financing. The two young men who took out the old units, installed the new equipment, and tested the operation were in and out in 5 hours, and left no mess behind. $8500

I woke up this morning and my furnace was not working. I called Metro right away in the morning and Daryl Smith was sent out to help me. He arrived right on time and very quickly figured out the problem. There was a malfunction with my Thermostat and Daryl replaced it and also took the time to explain valuable information to me. I hope Daryl gets recognized because when you are a homeowner and someone comes out we of course want our problem fixed. The bonus is that he was caring and kind during the process. Its no fun to wake up with no heat in the winter and Daryl was just a great person to send out. My son will need a new furnace soon and you can bet I will refer Metro. Customer service is everything and many companies forget this but Metro deliver's Thank you

They came out a few months later and installed the air conditioner. They were very clean and did everything to perfection. Absolutely wonderful experience. If you are looking for someone with real experience with duct work and HVAC who will be honest and upfront with you, I have the company for you. Tom loves to let you know the details of everything he is doing or proposes to do. He is the duct whisperer. If you have heat (winter) or cooling (summer) problems on your 2nd floor, it is most likely your airflow. Don't listen to the sales people that promise a new furnace with a big fan will fix your problem. It won't. We tried that. Tom can rework your duct so that proper airflow can occur. I can feel the temperature difference, and can sleep at night without sweating myself to sleep. For the short time we were using gas this spring, our gas usage was cut in half. Because of the 2 stage air conditioner, I expect the electricity usage to be lower too during the summer. We suffered for 19 years with heating and cooling problems. They are gone now. No more humidity problems in the basement too since the air now circulates and is dehumidified by the air conditioner. Tom made sure that *every* room in the house had good air flow. For air quality, Tom installed a hospital grade Hepa filter, air purifier, and put in a better filter for the furnace. We breathe easier and have confidence in the air quality and fewer virus issues. He had custom metalwork done for the furnace for the air return and furnace stand. All designed beautifully and functional. The new thermostat is a work of art. For the people averse to paperwork, Tom filled out all of the paperwork for the rebates and warranties. All we had to do was cash the checks when they came. The city inspectors were impressed with the quality of the work. He went far above and beyond what we have encountered previously with a furnace and a/c install. He even discovered, fixed, and cleaned up our dryer vent as part of his service (which most possibly save us from having a dryer vent fire). It took a day of hot, sweaty work to clean up the mess and he could have passed off to someone else but didn't. The dryer vent should have been cleaned by the duct cleaners like they promised, but wasn't. He was here when he said he would be, and he sent email ahead of time detailing what he was going to do. He cleaned up every day and talked us through what was accomplished that day. Best communication ever. Best experience ever. Seriously. Call him

I am really impressed with Binder, from start to finish of the project. I really felt that they were straight forward with me by educating me on the pros and cons of doing an entire system versus just the A/C, as well as explaining various pros and cons to different models and brands of equipment. During the bid process they noticed our home had the ductwork for a zone system, but it was never installed. They were proactive about letting us know this, which was great because the temperature variance in the two story home was a source of frustration for us. Ultimately, we choose to install the zoning components and the furnace and A/C that would best utilize that new capability. We are so pleased. It’s like living in an entirely new home! Thanks Binder

I am VERY happy with my choice of Pronto especially after hearing stories of geothermal installs where support evaporated after the main work was done. They say they are in it for the long haul and that is what I saw. In fact, twice they just didn't know the answer to a noise problem and coordinated with an external expert for solutions -- and got the answer. I really enjoy working with a company that takes leadership to fix the problems. Persistent, patient, professional, and a real pleasure to work with
