They initially responded on a Sunday to fix clogged drains that affected two bathrooms, and got it repaired just before we had guests arrive. We had them repair longstanding problems with incorrectly installed fixtures that had parts from manufacturers out of business, so they had to hunt down the parts, repair the fixtures, adjust the hot water recirculation sytem (which had pipes crossed in the wall), all of which required multiple visits. Our dealings with the owner, Jon, and the working plumber, Paul, were first rate. They were timely, professional and always responded quickly to emails or phone calls

The price was higher than I expected for the work that was being done. I did get an estimate once they were on site, but I really had no choice to but to accept since I needed the work done that day or the next. The cost was $379 for the work after the Angie's List coupon and it maybe took them 20 minutes to take off the old fixture and put on a new one

Kurt is the best contracter we have ever worked with! He (and his crew) are professional, accommodating, and honest. We had his company sand and refinish our hardwood floors a few years ago. They were old and in quite a bad state, and we wondered if they would have to be replaced. B & R Hardwood made them look like new again! The floor crew was prompt, courteous and did a fabulous job! This past August we had him buff and coat the floors again as we have 3 dogs and we wanted the floors to look good so we could list our house. Again, they did a wonderful job and worked with our timeline so we could get the house on the market. I also had him install granite countertops in our master bathroom and replace all the plumbing fixtures. They look beautiful and the work was top-notch. Kurt arranged for me to meet with the granite company to pick out the countertop and everyone I dealt with was friendly and helpful. His cost wasn't the lowest I found, but also not the highest. I knew that he would do a great job though, and had no qualms about spending a bit more for superior work. I also appreciate the follow up from the company. They called after each stage to make sure the work was done properly and that we were satisfied. I have never dealt with a more customer-oriented company. We also decided to refinish our basement stairs ourselves and Kurt arranged for us to get the matching product without hesitation. I highly recommend B & R Hardwood and Tile and Kurt Kuhlman for any home improvement needs

The project started in April and is still not completed (5 months later)! My main objective was to increase the size of my shower - which was accomplished. However, the workmanship was not 'perfect' and don't we all deserve 'perfect'? First off, the owner is very generous and has your best intentions in mind, however I would say that there is a lack of basic project management techniques that should be instilled in all projects as well as checks and balances along the way that weren't in place for my project. The plumber was a novice and it took him hours upon hours to complete his work. He ran into a problem while installing a sink and toilet but installed them anyway - only when I stepped in did he back off and un-install. The tile guys do not speak English - everything is translated from the owner and the owner is never on site unless specifically requested. Thus it was very hard communicating and relaying problems to the workers since I didn't know if they understood me

What went well: Flooring was done nicely, the brick pattern was well thought out; the grout is clean and even (however there is a 2" chunk of grout on the tile under the vanity that I will need to remove somehow). The knockdown ceiling looks very nice. What did not go well: There was a lot of miscommunication about replacing the subfloor even though I sent 3 emails about it. The salesperson told me a reasonable amount of subfloor replacement was built into the price. I was willing to pay additional to have larger sections of the subfloor replaced. Instead they installed a cement tile backer without discussing it with me. The paint job is atrocious. I could've done better. There was a mix of roller and paint brushes so the look isn't uniform. This is the reason it took 2 months to finish my job. The salesperson told me they have professional painters on staff, apparently none were available for my job. Communication issues between the project manager and the Carpenter was an issue

Brian was great. Very responsive, answering calls after hours and also trying to be as flexible as possible to make sure our schedules aligned and he could get the work done as soon as possible. When he got there he was very knowledgeable, took a look and explained to me what was going on. There was a problem with the side cables as well as the overall spring tension. He did a general inspection of the main door as well as the smaller 3rd car door. Also caught a couple other smaller issues that he fixed along the way without any expensive add ons. Before wrapping up he also touched up both doors to ensure proper operation and movement. Great job overall, will be calling him for any other garage door needs in the future

We first contacted DHI in the fall of 2015 for an estimate on an irrigation system for our property((approx. 1.5 acres) including lawn and extensive perennial beds. After getting several bids from various contractors we decided to go with DHI but by the time we got to it they were booked up for the fall so we decided to try again in the spring. We contacted them again in April and they agreed to price from the previous fall and we scheduled the installation. Dale Hurt and his crew came on time and were very efficient in installing the system and in providing the plumber to connect up system to house. The whole project took about 1 day and included two outdoor spigots that were needed for pond and gardening purposes. A major leak was discovered when they turned it on and this was promptly repaired. After running the system for a few days we noticed that the spray nozzles needed to be adjusted and that the rain sensor was not working properly. After calling DHI, Steve Hurt came out and went through all the nozzles (58) and adjusted them to our needs and showed me how to adjust them and found that the sensor was in the standby mode, again he changed to active mode and it seems to work for heavy rains. We would have DHI again for sprinkler installations if we needed such

These guys were great. I originally hired them to re install new fixtures in a kitchen we remodeled, and install a gas line for a Jenair that we installed. They did a great job, and did what they say they would. Just recently we had a toilet that was leaking, they were able to come out right away, change the wax ring and make everything look perfect. It is nice to have a company you can call, and will do a great job. Worth hiring!
