KRUEGER EXCAVATING INC

Went well as far as the pool removal, one side of my yard ended up covered in dirt, but I understand this was probably unavoidable. Just need to reseed a little extra area. Job took 2 days which was nice. Everyone was professional and responded promptly to my emails and phone calls. Job was quoted similar to other contractors

KRUEGER EXCAVATING INC

From my initial phone call to completion of the project was 3 weeks. I used Angies List for this project. Krueger Excavation was selected for an estimate due to the positive feedback from people who also used this company. I had no prior information on this company. Nate Krueger came out for our first meeting. He gathered the information needed for the pool removal. His demeanor was very cordial and knowledgeable. He was easy to talk to and answered our questions and offered suggestions. When the estimate arrived we felt the price was reasonable. Krueger Excavation was notified of the acceptance of the bid. A date for the project was agreed on. On that date (9/11/2012) the project went off without any problems. The crew on the scene were also helpful. They completed the job in a little over 6 hours

Lowell Russell Concrete
5.0
The workmanship was excellent and was done quite quickly, even though we had some rain issues that slowed the project a little. Very nice looking driveway and decking. Very pleased. Now have room to park another car to the side of our garage and more space to get out of your car and walk to the front steps without having to walk on the grass

Bollig & Son's references praised them as fantastic (two of the three described them as "the best in the Twin Cities") and I concur wholeheartedly. I would recommend them to anyone without hesitation.

Amazing Husband Handyman Service
5.0
Could not have been better Arthur worked earnestly and efficiently. Completed the task amazingly fast. When he had finished he presented his bill and I told him it was not correct. I had him for four hours and he was charging me for three. (who does that?) He was willing to use his bill and forego the extra hour but I appreciated his honest but he had done the work. Over the next day a problem developed (not his fault) come out quickly and would not accept any money. I cannot wait for this guy to come back

Duane gave me an on-site estimate and then followed up several times with phone calls. His crew was amazing! They were professional, friendly and even swept our street each night before leaving. They were able to salvage much of my perennials too.

Hage Concrete Works
1.0
Mr. Hage came out and gave a labor/materials flexible bid. He was kind, and things seemed fine. When the work crew came to start the work, one of the workers refused to start on the project because he was not comfortable with what Mr. Hage and I had decided on for a fix. I had to spend much time convincing this worker to do the job, and ultimately he and his fellow worker called Mr. Hage and confirmed the work to be done. This was frustrating. The concrete work was done with no attention to detail. I went to look at things as the workers were packing up, and had to stop them from leaving, because their repair job was incomplete. There were still many areas of concrete flaking off. When I pointed this out to the workers, one of the workers told me that if I am going to stare at this all day, then sure… I would find many problems. That was frustrating as well. When one of the workers came back to do a dye job on the concrete, he spilled concrete stain into the pool (which was partially empty and in the process of filling). This stain hit dry parts of the bright white pool floor, and stained the pool. I did not discover this until the worker had left, but it made me furious. On top of that, his stain (blending) job on the concrete was terrible. I wish Angie’s List allowed photos, because the pictures I took are shocking. I called Hage Concrete to complain about this, and they sent a third worker to see what could be done about our stained pool. He was very surprised at the poor concrete stain job, and did not have any ideas how to get stains out of a concrete pool. At this point, I had dealt with three different Hage Concrete employees. Two of them were terrible, and the third did not know how to fix the problems the other two had caused. At this point I called Hage and fired them, because it was apparent that Hage Concrete did not have a competent work staff. I did not want another Hage employee coming in and making things worse. I feel I got a mediocre concrete job, a terrible dye (blending) job that will have to be totally redone, and possibly irreversible damage done to our pool

KRUEGER EXCAVATING INC
5.0
Terrific experience from start to finish. Nate and his crew came highly recommended and did not disappoint. Excavators with significant pool removal experience are not easy to come by. I first contacted an excavator who was referred by our pool maintenance company, but the bid was high and the owner was less than professional. Nate was 100% reliable - we recommend him without reservation

Landstyle Design and Construction
5.0
The project went well from beginning to end. It was a challenge for them taking out the pool, we've had water problems with a spring running underneath the pool, but they were able to get it done with the water continuing to fill in as they worked. The crew we had working on our project was fantastic! A great group of guys!! All of our neighbors commented on how clean the crew kept our cul-de-sac every day when they finished. Our deck man was great also. He always would explain what and why he was doing certain things and would always ask questions if he wasn't sure how we had planned to do something. The whole Landstyle Design team was easy and VERY pleasant to work with. The only negative thing would be some miscommunication or some lack of communication between different forman, but nothing that caused issues. Things were always taken care of. If we had questions or concerns, the response time was quick. We would highly recommend Landstyle Design and Construction

Heinen Construction Inc

Less then one star! Greg the guy that runs this company is completely incompetent! Avoid at all costs! As stated in the other review here, the owner Greg doesn't understand grading, or much of anything to do with construction. He tried to build our garage lower then the alley with heated floors, would have made a swimming pool! He also wound up building our garage so far off of square it needed new footings, but the city put a stop work order on him before he could complete the job, and now we are stuck sueing him. I should have fired them when they left nails littering my alley and broke both neighbors driveways during the demolition of our old garage. They are absolutely incompetent, I would go so far to say I believe Greg is an idiot and doesn't actually know a thing about construction

Innovative Basement Authority
5.0
This was a very good experience, from beginning to end. The estimator thoroughly explained our options and provided an easy-to-understand contract. The installers arrived on time and did a great job. For us, it required a huge amount of work in preparation, however, it was worth the effort. The price was more than we had hoped to spend, but the result makes it a sound investment. Although we did not have major water infiltration in our basement, our 100 yr. old home with cement block walls and cement floor continued to experience periodic water seepage. The result was a ton of mold, making the air unsafe throughout the entire house. We are pleased to report that in the almost two years since the installation, the project has eliminated the mold and it has not returned. As we understand it, there are two keys to this effort: (1) keeping all moisture contained behind the plastic liner; and (2) having a commercial grade dehumidifier to keep the humidity at or below 50%, which renders the mold inactive. The first task we had was to move everything 4 ft. away from the perimeter walls, to give them space to work. In our case, that involved a huge amount of work, including removing a long workbench which was bolted to the wall plus multiple shelving units. When they began work, they jackhammered about 6 inches of the cement floor out from the wall, where they installed the WaterGuard drainage system. That was a dusty project. After placing the plastic drain system into the trench, they covered it with fresh cement, doing a very good job. The next task was to attach the CleanSpace plastic to the walls, from the ceiling to the floor. This airtight seal directs any and all moisture into the WaterGuard. If and when the water actually flows down the walls, the WaterGuard system carries it to the sump, which pumps it outside. As mentioned above, the final key to the success of the system is installing a large dehumidifier, which can be set to whatever humidity level you determine. We were told, and find it to be true, that keeping it at 50% means that the mold can no longer grow. The crew was competent, efficient, answered all our questions, cleaned up completely and completed their work on schedule, which took two full days. We then went back to work to put everything back into place. As indicated at the outset, it was a lot of work, but since the result makes it possible to enjoy the fresh air of our basement for the first time, and improved the quality of the air throughout our home, our only regret is that we didn't do the project earlier. They recommend an annual flushing of the WaterGuard drains into the sump. You can hire them to come do this, however it's a relatively simple task you can do, simply inserting a garden hose at the 3-4 WaterGuard port access points and running the water for 5-10 minutes at each port

LODAHL DEMOLITION INC
5.0
Tom has no employees, owns his own equipment, and is a one-man show; therefore he has extremely low overhead costs and is why he can perform pool removal so inexpensively. Other company quotes were $6,200 and $7,500 - $10,000. Any and all concerns were thoroughly discussed and Tom was very responsive and willing to adjust to ease any issues that arose. Note that black dirt can be added as an extra expense but no grass seeding or sod is included

L & R Suburban Landscaping Inc
5.0
L & R Landscaping came out and did a thorough survey of the project and formulated a great estimate for us. They also brought a number of sample photos which helped us see the visions for what the backyard would/could look like. The people we worked with were very confident and we could tell that they knew what they were doing. After we agreed to the estimate we scheduled the project with them as soon as possible. When they came to our house in mid-August everything only took about a week or two. They were very careful not to damage anything with the large equipment necessary to excavate the pool and fill it in as it required a number of large machinery to be brought through the front yard into the backyard. They were very detailed in how all of the work was performed and proper inspections were performed as well. We would recommend this company for any landscaping work and will definitely be contacting them for future landscape projects
Dale, and his staff at Aquatic Rock Formations, is a true professional at installing, repairing, and updating water features. Dale is a problem solver, who is creative and dedicated to doing the job correctly the first time. His extensive experience led him to discover the specific issue with the auto fill on my waterfall on his first visit just three days after contacting him. He immediately telephoned me about the repair, estimated cost, and scheduled the time just a couple of weeks in the future. When an unrelated, unexpected issue was recognized during the repair, he made time in his schedule to return the following day to finish. Then he returned back within two days of the completion to make sure that it operated as expected. It was comforting to be able to reach him when questions arose. The price was both similar to the estimate and fair. I had worked with two other companies regarding the same problem with the auto fill and both were unable to diagnose nor remediate the issue over a four-month time period. I was so impressed by Dale that a number of weeks later, I contacted him about installing lights on the falls. They look fabulous! I plan on using only him for my future projects and highly recommend him for planning, building, repairing, or updating water features
We are a small locally owned company who takes pride in their work. Owners are on site from the time of estimates to completion. No job is to large or small. We take care of your home or property as if it were our own.
