The project went smoothly and was accomplished in a reasonable amount of time. Our builders, Derek and Ethan had to deal with difficult terrain and problems in getting materials to the site (As I've learned was common this summer). They overcame these challenges and built us a deck to be proud of. While the old deck detracted from the appearance of our house, our new deck is an asset! We are very happy with it

After 26 years our cedar deck had seen its better days. Doing research, getting quotes and exploring options takes considerable time. Even after that how do you decide what is best. We chose Building Decks & Beyond because Jason went above and beyond to explain the options available to us. Because building codes have changed over the years Jason designed a frame that would meet current codes, even impressing the city building inspector. The workmanship was superb. Friends and family are very impressed with our new deck especially the lights that add a nice touch. I highly recommend Jason and his team at Building Decks & Beyond. I seldom write reviews but with the outstanding service and quality craftsmanship, it would be an injustice if I did not submit this review

Having had a wood deck for more than 20 years, which was beautiful when it was young, I knew that when I replaced that deck, I would want something that didn't need to be stained or painted each year. After learning about the variety of products, I chose Azek because it is basically plastic, and wouldn't be affected by moisture. I could find just a few companies in the area that worked with Azek: one didn't return my call, one was very expensive, and then there was Outdoor Solutions. Mike came to my house as the salesman, and later, headed up the crew that actually installed the deck. He suggested color combinations, which was good for me because I don't have a good eye for design. The work took a week, including tear down of the old deck and construction of the new deck. The old deck was hauled away, and I liked that there was never a Dumpster on my driveway. Clean-up was pretty good but not perfect: I found several little cellophane wrappers in the lawn, as well as a hammer. I also found several screws in the garden beneath the deck. There was also very little notice between telling me when work would start and when it actually started - like a few hours. These little things, however, would not get in the way of considering Outdoor Solutions for future work. Mike did not respond to either of my texts after the work was done, addressing the hammer I found in the lawn and to find out whether he wanted to pick up the final check from me or mail it to the company

Conclusions: Good deck completed. Poor cleanup and a couple quality issues. First we did considerable research on metal railings and are happy with the Westbury rail design and the glass is nice for the view. We like the Timbertech composite wood. We had many quotes for this job & Ugly Deck had good reviews & were competitively priced. Invoice completed in Oct 2014. Ugly Deck started the work later than estimated by well over a week. Initially only deck boards & new railings were to be completed. But after inspecting the insufficient old deck footings, we decided to replace the entire deck. This was now December so we agreed to complete the deck on the old footings & support beams, and have the new footings and beams completed in spring. They said they planned on doing the beams last anyways. The upper deck completion went fairly well with a few communication issues that were resolved. I did need to call numerous times to find out when Ugly Deck would return to complete work. Clean up was poor during the winter & spring months. There was no protection on large areas of grass where there was considerable plastic & metal small end pieces, dust/shavings, nails, screws & shims (magnet was not used to pick up metal scrap). In the spring after the footings went in the new approx 8 ? long 6x6 beams were pounded in place underneath the deck. This left large mallet dents in the beams, and the beams were badly cracked. We complained & Ugly deck quickly sanded out most of the dents but we were not happy with the end result appearance of the posts, which is on our lower patio area w/patio pavers. The deck creaks a lot especially when walked on, I assume there are internal stresses due to the construction process used. I built our other deck with Timbertech and have no issues with creaking. Ugly Deck sent us the final bill but did not respond to my email regarding final quality for 2 weeks (I also called). By this time I had decided I would make the posts look best I could and had sanded, applied wood putty, painted the posts (my responsibility) and completed the pavers around the posts (my responsibility). They offered to replace the beams with no guarantee of cracking if I paid for the beams. I said there were a few minor issues including proper dressing of wires against the house and I asked them to come out to cleanup the remaining issues. No one has come out even after a couple calls. I?ve since noticed the caulking under the deck where it butts up against the house has separated (possibly when they lifted the deck for the new beams), and one of the wires is badly nicked. Typically Ugly Deck sales and construction workers were pleasant to work with. But communications were lacking. We were disappointed in the clean up, lack of final quality under the deck & no final inspection. Work was completed around end of April 2015

We sourced five bids for our deck project. We opted to use Rosebud as we found Joe to be by far the most responsive contractor of the people who stopped out. He visited promptly and provided a bid to us quickly. In addition, all subsequent communication with him came in an honest and upfront manner. He also quickly responded to our request for references of other folks he’d built decks for. Joe was also was the only contractor that gave us a firm, unwavering bid. The other contractors we talked to were generally unable to definitively confirm how much our job would cost, pending uncertainly regarding what sort of substructure would be revealed and required when our old deck was demolished. Joe basically told us what we had and what was needed. He’s a no-nonsense, straight shooter. This was reassuring as other contractors kept telling us, “Best case scenario, it will be Price Plan A, worst case scenario, Price Plan B.” Lastly, Joe’s overall price quote for our deck project was very competitive. The demolition and construction process took about a week. Nate was the lead carpenter. We found Nate agreeable, pleasant and efficient. Our deck was constructed with Trex’s Transcend product line using the Havana Gold color and Spiced Rum color accents. We used the Westbury Riviera III aluminum railing. The bottom line: Rosebud’s final results exceeded our expectations. My thanks to Joe and his crew for a job well done. I highly recommend the company to anyone interested in a new deck

Process was slow do to some installation issues (3 months for completion ). The people subcontracted to complete the work were not familiar with the product. Some rework needed to be completed due to this issue. Final project costs came in higher than quoted. To paint our front door he worked around my schedule to get it done. Nice clean work and very thorough paint and caulking job. Great clean up job - no over spray issues. Todd (owner)and I did a walk around to ensure work was completed to my satisfaction. He offered to return to touch up anything that I may find wrong. I never needed to call him back

We are very happy with the work we had completed by Twin Cities Siding. We used almost every service they offer and are very satisfied with all of the work completed. We originally asked them to bid on siding and roof replacement. We also asked for a bid on adding a screen or multi-season porch and deck. They really listened to what we wanted and came back with a bid that made our dream of adding a family room feasible. Once we agreed to work with them on the siding and roofing we also asked for bids on insulation and window replacement. Every bid was competitive and fair. This was a long project and we worked with many folks from the company. Every employee was extremely professional and made it easy to welcome them into our home for many weeks. We had very regular updates from and communication with our project manager throughout the project. Given the scope of the work and the number of players involved, there were some bumps along the way (like the window company sending all of the windows backwards), but every challenge was met head on and handled quickly, which rates very high with us. Overall, we got everything we dreamed of for our home within our budget. We would definitely recommend Twin Cities Siding to family and friends

Owner Lane provided a fair and accurate bid, was responsive in notifying us of dates of prep power wash and start date, and overall was a pleasure to do business with.
