  I contacted Mattson Macdonald Young (MMY) after receiving an email from our local city building inspector who wanted to ensure that a proposed greenhouse was in compliance with the 2020 Minnesota Residential Code. MMY Engineer Ken Green was extremely helpful in this matter and suggested that I contact the greenhouse kit manufacturer to obtain the needed information for the city. He also provided me with the applicable design loads for snow and wind so that the resulting greenhouse structure would be building code compliant. The greenhouse kit manufacturer upgraded its structural components to meet code. While I ended up not requiring MMY’s engineering design services, based on my interactions with Ken, the quality of the information that he provided to me and his prompt responses, MMY would be the first company that I’d call should I need these services in the future.   Exceeded expectations! Andrew and his team were able to level and add supports to our floor to carry the load of a kitchen island that was part of our kitchen renovation. Flooring companies were only able to offer a band-aid fix that did not address the cause or offer a permanent solution.   We hired Andy (Load Bearing Wall Company) to “remodel” our 120 year-old, two story porch. After his first inspection, it became obvious that we needed to “rebuild the porch”. The roof on the second floor had never been tied into the house, the main vertical structural elements were just boxes of thin wood and the floor on the first level had a cracked structural floor beam (always wondered about the progressive floor sag). Andy and his consultants engineered a system to tie the existing roof into the main building without the need for replacement saving 40-50k. Solutions were also found to strengthen the vertical supports and replace the cracked beam. We now have a beautiful, structurally sound porch with two nicest rooms in the house. Andy is an excellent communicator. Estimates were spot on and when problems were encountered, he always provided solutions at several price points. Would I use him again?   Working with Justin and Amanda has been wonderful! Their communication rises above all other contractors I have tried to work with. They listened to my needs and obstacles that I have moving forward on my deck tear down and rebuild. Justin immediately observed structural issues I needed to rectify. He was honest and forth coming with the amount of work and the time line needed for such a large project. Justin's proposal bid was very fair and in line with research I have done. Other contractors have been rude, or no shows, or condescending (I have structural and design experience) in their approach talking with this senior, disabled, single woman. ( which I know many single woman can relate to ) I appreciate Dupont Constructions honesty and respect and reliability. These are qualities that are hard to come by in this day and age.   Good! I was a bit disappointed that I was billed for a full 2 hour segment when the assessment only took 20 minutes. This was a policy I was given on the phone ahead of time, so I can't dock them too much, though I was told there would be some leniency if the work was finished faster than expected.

  Many delays mostly due to him accepting other jobs and pushing mine back weeks. 2 week job took 3 months to complete; the job did grow in scope - so 3 weeks might have been reasonable, but... I was probably too nice, but was smart enough to hold back final payment until completed. Super nice man and employees. He is extremely knowledgeable about all things concrete - an expert. Unfortunately he was rushed, had higher value projects come up (mine was $8K), and doesn't provide guarantees. Some of my hearth bricks were damaged during grouting - upsetting to me; admittedly we were chatting while he was working. the garage leaks worse than before - the waterproofing painted on the exterior and interior is flaking and peeling after only one winter (I did not request this, but was already in process when I noticed - he said it would last long) - (it will need wired brushed removal) and the exterior caulking is not preventing leaks - he added expansion joints to floor to prevent other cracks. The basement post work was done to high standards - great job just very messy, poor cleanup. The new steps are holding up well thus far - a little pooling of water on one side of two of the steps - he back filled with concrete debri before the pour of the concrete (seems like that is a common industry practice) - it seemed like an inaccurate estimate concrete order - he used good quality concrete. Some other work done seems to be okay. The biggest issue is organization, lack of prep to have all he needs when he arrives, timing, responsiveness, rushing and lack of follow-up to resolve issues. He was squeezing in my projects between his higher value projects; when we started he wasn't very busy - so things changed. He was trying to maximize outdoor jobs before winter - probably a MN thing for contractors. That's why he didn't complete my indoor stuff till later. He didn't provide a written contract although I asked; I had to insist on a written receipt. I think if I had been a stronger project manager of his work and I had more energy for that, I would hire him again - but that's not really what I want to do. He does need a strong project manager. Very disappointing but kinda, sorta okay. I really wish it was different. Two neighbors had similar experiences. If you want to project manage and work alongside him... you would learn a lot and have fun. That might be a really good and very unique business niche for himshow more

Travis inspected the bouncy floor and provided a clear and concise report with straight forward recommendations for how to strengthen the joists.
