 Verification of Veteran-owned small businesses will transfer from VA to SBA - Effective Jan. 1, 2023, all responsibilities for the verification of Veteran-owned small businesses will transfer from the Department of Veterans Affairs to the Small Business Administration. (9/23/22)

 VA announces state partnerships to provide voter registration assistance to Veterans - On National Voter Registration Day, the Department of Veterans Affairs announced partnerships with the states of Michigan, Kentucky and Pennsylvania to create a pilot voter registration program that provides voter registration information, materials and — if requested — assistance to Veterans, eligible dependents and caregivers at select VA facilities across the country. (9/20/22)

 VA releases report showing decrease in Veteran Suicides, names suicide prevention grantees and finalists - Today, the Department of Veterans Affairs released the 2022 National Veteran Suicide Prevention Annual Report, which shows that Veteran suicides decreased in 2020 for the second year in a row, and that fewer Veterans died by suicide in 2020 than in any year since 2006.  (9/19/22)

 VA to Extend Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers eligibility for “legacy” Veterans and their family caregivers - Yesterday, the Department of Veterans Affairs submitted to the Federal Register an interim final rule that will extend Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers eligibility for certain Veterans and their family caregivers through Sept. 30, 2025.  (9/15/22)

VA awards more than $130M in new grant funding to help homeless Veterans and their family members find stable housing - On Sept. 13, the Department of Veterans Affairs announced that it awarded $137 million in grants through VA’s Supportive Services for Veteran Families Program to help Veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless and their families. (9/13/22)

VA will offer abortion counseling and — in certain cases — abortions to pregnant Veterans and VA beneficiaries - Last night, the Department of Veterans Affairs submitted to the Federal Register an interim final rule that will allow VA to provide access to abortion counseling and — in certain cases — abortions to pregnant Veterans and VA beneficiaries. Specifically, VA will provide access to abortions when the life or health of the pregnant Veteran would be endangered if the pregnancy were carried to term, or when the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest. VA beneficiaries enrolled in CHAMPVA will also have access to this care. (9/2/22)

VA national cemeteries call on volunteers to participate in National Day of Service - VA national cemeteries are looking for volunteers to participate in the Sept. 9 National Day of Service to honor those who served in the nation’s armed forces in the 21 years since 9/11. (8/31/22)

VA releases whole health approach to Long COVID - This month, the Department of Veterans Affairs published “Whole Heath System Approach to Long COVID” — a guidebook for caring for Veterans with Long COVID. (8/30/22)

VA extends temporary hardship suspension for benefit debts - The Department of Veterans Affairs is extending our financial hardship suspension on benefit debts, meaning that Veterans who request assistance will not have to pay benefit debts until Dec. 31. (8/29/22)

Statement from VA Secretary Denis McDonough on the signing of the PACT Act - “The PACT Act is a historic new law that will help VA deliver for millions of Veterans — and their survivors — by empowering us to presumptively provide care and benefits to Vets suffering from more than 20 toxic exposure-related conditions. VA awards $431 million in grants to help at-risk Veterans and their families - On Aug. 1, the Department of Veterans Affairs awarded $431 million in grants to 258 non-profit organizations across the nation to help homeless and at-risk Veterans and their families. (8/1/22)

VA expands grant program for community organizations helping homeless Veterans - The Department of Veterans Affairs published a Final Rule (insert link) on (insert date), allowing Grant and Per Diem program grantees to receive reimbursements for costs associated with serving the minor dependents of homeless Veterans. (7/29/22)

VA summer sports clinic for disabled Veterans returns to San Diego - Veterans will participate during the Department of Veterans Affairs’ National Veterans Summer Sports Clinic, Aug. 7-12 in San Diego. (7/25/22)
