The whole project took five days and a little bit over. Sean and Ryan removed the bermuda grass, tilled the whole yard, spread composted soil, installed zoysia grass in about half the yard, made three small flagstone patios (with wide set pavers to allow for planting in the spaces), seeded the spaces with thyme and mint, planted about 40 plants (star jasmine, Mexican feather grass, yucca, lantana, firebush plus bougainvillea, Meyer lemon, and night-blooming jasmine that I had in pots), spread cedar mulch over all, and installed a hidden watering system with sprayers at each plant-- on a digtal timer... all this and an order of fries. Just kidding about the fries, but they did a TON of work in that week with a couple of 12-hour days. It was a pleasure having them in the yard, and I would heartily recommend Sean to anyone needing landscaping work.

It went Amazing! From beginning to end. I called and left a message with Eric. I was not expecting a call back so quickly. He was able to come out to my property the next morning. Eric was extremely nice and courteous. He was VERY knowledgeable and was able to answer all of my questions. He was very patient with me. He didn't seem to rush the appointment like some other landscaping companies had. The day the project started Jose(project manager) was the nicest man. He was on time, answered more questions, and was easy to communicate with. They took up my old grass with the tiller, and did it the right way. Very clean company. Everyday before they left they would make sure to clean up very well. The attention to detail on their clean ups is what really stood out to me. Eric had showed me some flagstone work he had done at another home and I had to have it. The flagstone walkway was very beautiful and exceeded my expectations. We even added some deer resistant plants in my front yard that really made my front yard look amazing! I am extremely happy with Alamo city scapes and everyone who helped me through my project. I recommend this company with anyone starting a project big or small to give these guys your business. If there was an A+ rating on here I would give it to them!

RA Nursery Materials Landscape

The company was very prompt in sending someone out to evaluate and quote the job after another contractor had left my yard in a big mess. I was very explicit in what items I wanted done, and they worked with me to keep the costs within the budget I had allotted for the work. The work was very labor intensive, but they were able to complete the job in one day although the Texas heat and humidity were grueling! Everyone was so friendly and I definitely plan to call them for future projects. I got exactly what I expected and asked for!

Tri County Sprinklers
5.0
From the moment I first called Tri-County, they were great. The office staff was prompt and friendly. Some places I called gave me an estimate via google maps. Tri-County actually came out and looked at what I needed. They evaluated the slope of the yard and also asked about future plans I had to make the right decision. The day that the estimator was coming out, the office called me to inform me he would be 15 minutes late. I appreciated that and the estimator was on time. They showed up for installation on time and started work immediately. At the end of the day when they finished, they proceeded to pick up large rocks that were dug up and even swept the porch, sidewalk, and driveway. The trenches that were dug are even to the ground and I should have no problem getting grass to fill in the bare spots. After the install, the owner came out and did a walk through with me. We went over watering schedule, flow rate, seasonal adjustments, and how to adjust if I put seed or fertilizer down. The warranty was longer than others that I priced and their customer service was far better. For those reasons, I went with Tri-County. They were not the highest quote I got but they were on the lower end of the range. I feel I got a good product and service for the price

Sahkateh Landscape & Fence, LLC

I paid him in full on Friday. He was paid a total of $1800. After he was leaving, he came back and asked to use our Wi-Fi. He wanted to print an invoice. I asked for him to email it, but he wanted to use my telephone and Wi-Fi. He then went out to his truck, but he somehow generated a new invoice on which he added $90 for hourly work, and another $50 for flagstone, and another $100 for plants I did not even get. That Friday when he was supposed to be staining the fence, he instead dug up the sod on my neighbor's property and put down gravel and stepping stones and bricks from my yard. I told him he should check with the neighbor to see if he wants this, but the contractor insisted. The neighbor ended up saying it was ok, but the company then wanted to charge me for the work he was doing in my neighbor's yard. He did not put down grass seed for me that he said he did. I had arranged with him that he would be coming twice a month every month for the next year to maintain the yard. He did not put the flagstone down on sand, but mulch instead. He had his kid doing this part of the job incorrectly. The mulch was supposed to go by the rose bushes. I then received another email invoice from him saying I was paid in full in the message, but the lines on the invoice claim I owe over $400 more dollars at this point. He also charged more to haul something away, but we did not have anything hauled that I know of. The yard looked nice in the end, but he keeps trying to charge me for things I do not owe. He added lights around the bushes I did not ask for and said it was a surprise - indeed it was a surprise on the invoice.

Billy (owner) came out the very first time to give us an estimate and hear what sort of landscape I wanted to develop in our semi-rural subdivision in Spring Branch. Although I specifically requested xeriscaping and low maintenance plants, he developed a very expensive Plan including flower beds all around the front of the house. He completely disregarded my dislike of the existing palms and wanted to plant even more of them. It seems he had his vision and it was not mine! His crew was never on time and frequently did not show up. His excuse was That we were the farthest route out that he had and some of his crew was sick or a truck was broken down. His crew completely insulted my intelligence by Telling me that they had sprayed for weeds on the Beds and the reason I couldn't tell was that "it was invisible"! Billy defended his crew and said that they must have done it. He told me how much a quart is his Powerful weed killer cost and that they could not possibly afford to use that and make a profit. I sent him a pic of the weeds, strong and healthy, in the beds. I BEGGED him to send a crew out because dandelions were about to go to Seed and would blow all over our yard. Re: the bookkeeper, she had no clue when the crew had actually been to our property. She sent bills like clockwork for the months it rained And Billy explained that it was too wet to work and that EVERYONE'S yard was overgrown. We have had a new service for two months and she continues to send us bills despite the fact that we FIRED them two months ago!! DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!!

Mother Nature Lawn & Landscape
5.0
I can't say enough good things about Michael Wescoat and Mother Nature Lawn & Landscape. My wife and I had made the decision to wait a few years before installing rain gutters at our house, which turned out to be a mistake. Over several years, the rainfall from the side of the house washed away a lot of soil. On the other side of the house, we had a little bit of erosion but we also had issues with standing water and getting grass to grow. In the back yard, we had some similar issues - washed away soil and we were in need of grass. We've since moved out of town and are fixing up our house to sell. Michael has been very easy to work with, and easy to get in touch with by phone, despite our distance. Michael came out to our house to meet me in person and look at the situation. He offered me his advice on what to do to fix these issues and the best way to go about it. He presented me with options for each problem, pros and cons (seed vs. sod, for instance), and explained why he recommended what he did in a way I could understand. He also gave me some advise on some unrelated issues at our property that we were having looked at my another contractor. I don't want to remark about another company in this review about Mother Nature, but I can tell you that Michael's advice and actions have earned my trust. I can tell he knows what he's talking about and that he's going to be honest with his advice and opinions on what's needed to get the job done. Mother Nature was able to get to the work sooner than I expected and the result is fantastic. They did the job quickly and my wife and I are very pleased. I wish I could give an A+, because we are that happy.

Maverick Lawn Service

Started out fine but ended in a disaster! He became difficult to work with because he ordered the wrong type of topsoil/it was soil with grass seed in which, grew very fast. Topsoil was like muddy gumbo. Not the enriched topsoil I was expecting! Of course, he did not order the correct amount of topsoil the 1st time and had to scramble to find topsoil and got the cheapest he could find and I am sure that is why it had all this grass in it!!! His crew broke a sprinkler irrigation pvc which my husband had to repair because the owner did not know how to do it correctly. Then they broke a chunk of stucco off the our house 3" deep by 8-10" long. (We live on the golf course here in Devine, a very nice house) He offered to fix it but have not heard from him since he received payment in full!!! I ordered 350 plants to be planted, 27 Mexican Heather, 50 Jasmine for ground cover (left on the stick), 150 petunia ground cover, & 20 petunia plants There have been 12-15 plants that have died and the owner assured me the supplier he bought them from guaranteed them if they died. I requested they clean out the beds of all the old soil with the weeds & grass & roots from the plants that were removed, BUT they only scrapped the top soil and not a good job of that before they placed the weed barrier down! The weed barrier was NOT PULLED tight but left it wrinkled and showing through after they put the gumbo topsoil on! I had told them to mark where all the sprinkler heads were and yet we still had to uncover several of them because of their lack of attention to the job at hand! It was awful!!! When you pay $6500 for a PROFESSIONAL JOB, SHOULDN'T YOU GET A PROFESSIONAL JOB??? OF COURSE, YOU SHOULD!!! My suggestion is DO NOT USE this COMPANY!! I think they are swindlers, DEFINITELY NOT POFESSIONALS!!! Give them an easy job and I believe they would be capable of handling it but a simple removal of old plants and old soil adding new plants with weed block and new soil was WAY TOO COMPLICATED FOR THIS COMPANY. His workers were lazy too. When he was not here to direct them they did not work. Angi, be careful who you recommend them too. The BBB does not recommend them because of the poor ratings turned in to them. I wish I had read those reviews because I WOULD NEVER Have hired them for the simple project I had planned. Now I have new flowerbeds with some dying plants and lots of grass & weeds growing in them. It reminds me of my old flowerbeds but those plants were flourishing with the weeds & grass! The owner was supposed to return to release the jasmine from the stakes they were tied to during transit and planting BUT HE DID NOT. BY THE TIME I REALIZED HE WAS NOT RETURNING TO COMPLETE THE JOB, some of the jasmine had already grown 12" on the stake and they were severely twisted and difficult to remove from the stake without breaking some of the limbs!!! I should not have had to do this because this was the job of this company. What A NIGHTMARE!!! Angi please help ME!

Maldonados Nursery

We moved into a newly constructed house with little more than sod and a few plants and two spindly trees for landscaping, We are new to Texas and began a tour of nurserys searching for jandscaping help. We found Maldonado's Zip Road location, with acres of trees and shrubs and plants which were obviously cultivated from seed to maturity. The young woman in the front office gave us direcftions to tour the site. We were amazed, but were concerned that we were in the and quot;high rent' district of the landscaping world but found prices very competetive, particularly for the quality. As we were about to leave, she thanked us for visiting and reminded us pf their free consulting service. We could certainly use some professional help in the cost was within reason. Ron Chrisman called to make an appointment and showed up the next day, exactly on time. He listened to our ideas and made sketches of the property. He was back with a preliminary plan in just a couple of days. We worked together, visited the mursey to look at his suggestions in person. We revised and revised. The final proposal was detailed. We discussed alternatives and costs, and Ron was always honest and attentive to our needs, even suggesting some cost-saving alternatives. We never felt pressured in any way. Ron even selcted spefic trees and plants for us to choose from. It was a most comfortable experience. We were pleased with the final proposal and the terms of the contract. Andrew and his crew arrived, en force, promptly at 8, and everyone was at work immediately. It was clear that this was not just a professional crew, but an expert professional crew. It was a pleasure to watch people who knew and loved what they were doing. Ron was attentive throughout the day. Andrew was beyond description: skilled, informative to us, pleasant, efficient, respected by his crew. We had anticipated that it would take a couple of days to do everything - strip the sod for the beds, lay the brickwork, plant trees and shrubs, haul away the debris, clean up the mess, etc. etc. But things quickly took shape, with attention to detail that was amazing. By mid-afternoon we realized they would be finishing in one day. Unbelievable. Then, suddenly, as quietly as they arrived, the job was done and the crew packed up and cleaned up. There wasn't even as much as a spec of mulch anywhere. A personal comment: There was a small flower bed that was rimmed with river rock, which had to be removed to add soil, mulch and plants. The last task of the long day was putting the rock back. Andrew did not and quot;put the rock back.and quot; He placed each stone by hand, in a perfect pattern. I could not believe such attention to detail. It was not necessary. But if there is anything that typified the work that was done for us, that says it all.

SA RAINMAKER LLC
1.0
I began working with SA Rainmakers in early 2014 developing a landscape plan for my new home that was under construction. In May of 2014 SA Rainmakers installed my irrigation system and landscaping to include; sod, trees, shrubs, edging, weed barrier and rock. They did a horrible job. They installed very little weed barrier and when they came back to do it a second time, they only did the areas that were easy to get to and left the rest. They laid weed infested bermuda grass. We hired a lawn treatment service a month after moving in and 7 months later we are still fighting the weeds. Construction debris was not removed from the flower beds prior to planting the shrubs, when I tried planting flowers I came across plywood, roof shingles and stucco. Irrigation is SA Rainmakers specialty, yet I have trenches in my side yard where the sprinkler lines were run. SA Rainmakers sent someone out to fill the areas and a low spot in my front yard. The employee dumped a couple bags of low quality dirt on 2 of the low areas, left the remaining bags lying on my lawn and took off. SA Rainmakers planted 2 Live Oaks in the front yard that looked sick from day 1. The trees continued to struggle so we had the lawn service that was treating the weed infested sod also treat the trees. After 7 months of treatment the trees still had stunted yellow leaves and a sparse canopy. In January 2015 I called Melissa from a local nursery and asked her to advise me on how to revive the struggling Live Oaks. Melissa has a degree in horticultural and landscape science and has been in the industry 10 years. Melissa came out to look at the trees and determined that the trees were planted 3-4" below grade and were suffocating, they could not be revived. I emailed SA Rainmakers and asked to have the trees replaced. SA Rainmakers first response was that they would be happy to replace the trees and would do it later that week. I asked to have the Live Oaks replaced with Monterey Oaks since Live Oaks in our area are suseptible to Oak Wilt. I told SA Rainmakers that if they provided the trees I would pay to have them installed. A few days later SA Rainmakers inspected the trees and agreed that they were below grade and were progressing slowly. They raked away the mulch and fertilized the trees. SA Rainmakers said they'd take another look in April. I asked SA Rainmakers to reconsider the time frame because by April the Texas heat would be setting in and water restrictions would start in the Fair Oaks area. I did not hear back from SA Rainmakers. I did hear from my builder saying that SA Rainmakers were under no obligation to replace the trees and that they were going above and beyond by offering to replace the trees if they appeared distressed after the spring growth period and because I was unwilling to wait, no further action would be taken. In late January 2015 we had the local nursery dig up the dying Live Oaks and replace them with healthy Monterey Oaks. When the nursery dug up the trees they discovered that the holes were full of rock, essentially the trees had no where to grow. Not only that but SA Rainmakers planted Bagged & Burlap Live Oaks. The nursery explained that you only plant bagged & burlap trees in the dead of winter, not May. The trees were doomed from the start: the wrong type of tree planted at the wrong time of year in a hole that was too deep, too narrow and poorly prepped. We paid $1500 to have the dead trees replaced, we've spent over $800 having the weed infested lawn treated and will continue to do so, we continue to fill the low spot in the front yard and our next task is having the trenches from the irrigation lines filled with quality top soil and grass seed. I would not recommend SA Rainmakers to anyone. They never explained our system, notated zones or anything. A lot of trial and error to figure that out. Absolutely unexcusable! ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ADDED APRIL 2, 2015 SA Rainmaker's did the irrigation and landscape for my builder Smith Better Built homes. I hired a sprinkler company to come out and fix a broken sprinkler head. They found numerous heads that were buried under the landscape barrier that SA Rainmaker's put down. Heads were spraying the foundation instead of the yard. Heads weren't popping up above the rock that SA Rainmaker's installed. Heads were buried so deep in the yard they couldn't pop up above sod level. They put sprinkler heads below downspouts. We have 2 flower beds in the back that SA Rainmakers installed for my builder, Smith Better Built Homes, that are soaking wet all the time. Plants don't grow there but mushrooms do. The soil smells horrible. Guess what? Sprinkler heads not installed correctly. SA Rainmakers installed my irrigation and landscape on May 21, 2014, with the $5575 I paid SA Rainmakers and what I've paid to fix their mistakes, I'm in for over $10,000. Here I thought SA Rainmakers specialized in irrigation. Don't let these guys near your house! I doubt they even read their reviews to better themselves.

After contacting Larry I was immediately relieved by his optimism and explanation that the seed sinks to the ground. He told me to give it a week and if needed they would retreat any necessary areas.
