The crew handled this challenge well by being communicative and friendly with my neighbors and always cleaning up the space at the end of each working day. They always ensured that the fencing and hardscaping looked good from both sides of the property line, so that my neighbors were also happy! Another challenge was that an adjacent property is about 3 feet above grade and not pleasant to look at from our yard. Lazaro’s planning and vision for a beige brick half-wall, topped with wooden lattice flower boxes was a great finishing touch that provided a beautiful transition between the red brick paver patio and the elevated wooden fence to block the view of the adjacent property. The crew carefully planned their work from the beginning, so that there were no surprises at the end as the finishing touches were put on and the fence was erected. My wife and I are also confident that the money we spent on this work will be a great investment—not only for enjoying our new home, but also in the resale value some day in the future. "We've hired several home-improvement contractors recently and Gus & Sons has been the best! I needed most of my deck removed, and the stairs rebuilt. I wanted somebody who was willing to re-use the existing materials as much as possible. Other contractors refused because it was too much effort, finding it easier to buy all-new materials and start from scratch. But Gus & Sons sent a very efficient surveyor for a quote, who was very knowledgeable and professional and took all the measurements, and immediately impressed me. They began work shortly after (in the hot summer heat!) and quickly and efficiently dismantled the old deck and carefully rebuilt parts of it. "All American Fences promptly started work within a week of my signing a contract and even arrived a day early after asking my permission. The foreman made sure to ask me any about any other detail that would require my input as the homeowner and that might also impact my neighbors property before proceeding with their work. "I contacted Brendan Works to get a quote to replace my Capitol Hill townhome's rusted-out metal staircase. I wanted something that would fit with the classic look of the neighborhood, while being durable and solid. I was in a hurry, because I needed the stairs to go in before we moved some furniture and scheduled another contractor for a separate service. Communication: The owner Daniel was extremely responsive - we spoke on the phone, texted, and emailed when necessary. He worked around my schedule to get a quote and then to get the work done in a fast-turn, narrow time window. He was always pleasant and efficient. Quality: The stairs and rails look really, really nice and feel really solid. They seamlessly removed my crumbling old stairs. The welding looks really smooth. They found salvage components to create the classic Capitol Hill look with the rails, even though I couldn't describe exactly what I wanted, they absolutely hit the mark based on some pictures I sent them. Price: Really competitive. Daniel looked at the components of the structure that were in good enough shape to remain, instead of ripping out everything - and that saved us a ton of money. I had assumed it would all need to come off the house and they could have easily charged me a lot more. I would definitely work with Brendan Works again and recommend them to friends who are looking for a solid welding company.

"Fine-- I should have looked at pictures of what they were going to plant before agreeing to the work-- we spent a lot of money and it wasn't the plant I meant. They also came on a day we weren't home, and had I been home, I would have caught that and saved us money. We've had to redo the area again six years later because it wasn't what we wanted or needed. They did also put in a French drain which mostly solved a drainage problem, but not completely.
