A-Z STONE WORKS

Everything was great! I wanted the project done very quickly because we were having a party in two weeks. Aleh came and gave us a price, helped us to locate a stone supplier, and gave us suggestions on what to use all within the week of my call. He always answered all of my calls and messages and was very accommodating. He fit us in on a Sunday and completed the project from arrival to clean up within five hours. He had one helper with him and they thoroughly cleaned the entire work area before leaving. We received a ton of compliments on the work from everyone at the party. We are very pleased with the entire experience, including the price and quality of work.

We received 4 estimates for our project. We were removing old yellow brick from our front stoop and having it replaced with stone veneer. We were having the same stone veneer used to cover our existing yellow brick wall (knee high along our driveway). Aleh was not the most expensive nor the least, but having viewed the work he completed on other jobs helped in our decision making process. After having met with Aleh in late Spring, we decided to use him for our work. Because we had to have a new walk way poured before the stone work could begin, we were happy that Aleh could be flexible with our schedule. After selecting our stone, Aleh asked us to just let him know when we were two weeks from being ready for him to begin. Throughout the process Aleh was always accommodating and returned all of my phone calls, emails or text messages within the same day. I would urge anyone who is looking to have stone work done to their home or business contact Aleh. He was great to work with.

Everything went smoothly. They started the job when they said they would and finished quickly in 2 days. I've received many compliments on the job and the finished look from many of the other contractors working on the project. The stone really added an updated look to the front of the house and helps offset the older siding. I would recommend A-Z and Aleh.

Karl Poruben Jr. Handyman Service

We were looking for a handyman to help us with some small outside projects. We called Karl on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2020, and he answered the phone. He was pleasant to talk to, however, he said that he was out at lunch at the time. He said he could come to our house on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2020 @ 10:00 A.M. to give us a free estimate. He asked us to text him our address for the estimate appointment. After we hung up, we sent the text message confirming the specific day and time, our address, and directions on how to get to our home. He was very polite in the messages, and confirmed that he would meet us on Sunday. However, he never showed up for our appointment. We called him once or twice after 10:00 A.M., and left a message. Finally, @ 10:52 A.M., we sent a text message saying that we had other appointments to attend to, and were not able to meet later that day. We thought maybe he had had an emergency and wasn’t able to contact us, that day. So, we waited a few days. He never contacted us. We ultimately had to find another handyman to do the work we needed, since we needed it done before winter. Due to Karl’s lack of communication, we will not contact him again for future work.

Wonderfully professional workman came to my home. Handyman Svcs. of Pgh was both responsive and punctual. The only reason I gave a B rating on price & quality is for two reasons. First, it took longer than I expected to build my TV console thus a higher final cost. Second, there was a chip on the veneer, but this is not an expensive piece of furniture so I'm not overly concerned.

My Husband and I are remodeling a home on the South-side slopes of Pittsburgh. My husband and his Architect friend Mark Trimbur designed the addition and remodel in the American modernist style incorporating the natural elements of the site into the home. We opted for a mixed dry stack natural stone veneer supplied by NSVI and began the stone mason interviewing process. After receiving seven bids from various stone masons we commissioned A-Z Stone Works to do the work. Aleh promptly showed up on the scheduled time, viewed the drawings, took measurements and was very professional in both appearance and manner. My husband being in the design and building industry was very impressed with his knowledge and professional, no nonsense demeanor. A-Z Stone Works was there for us from start to finish. Aleh and my husband had several design meetings, went to purchase the stone together and A-Z Stone Works started promptly on the exact date scheduled. The stone cladding concept was not easy to install or prep for, stone on the first floor and a 3 story chimney / chase. Aleh and his crew where tireless in the installation, sometimes working 10 hour days and several days from sun-up to sun down. It was obvious from the start that every member of A-Z Stone Works took ownership in the installation of the stone. Laying dry-stack stone is not an easy straight forward job. Each piece must fit with another in an artistic way that A-Z Stone Works approached with the conviction of a master artisan. Aleh took the project on as personal challenge and bid the job fairly; certainly not the least expensive, however, as you can see by the photographs, the final product was worth twice what we paid. If you are in a need of masonry work and need a true artisan do not hesitate to call A-Z Stone Works. My husband swears by Aleh and A-Z Stone Works and has stated to many other peers, builders and friends he could not have achieved his concept for the home without them, in his words, ?The stone work was everything?.

I live at the other end of the state but I have some rental property in the Pittsburgh, Pa area. When projects come up, I always use Angie's list to get a better idea of potential contractors I have not met but may deal with. Angie's List has saved me a lot of hassles over the years because reading the reviews from folks like you has helped me choose the right contractors. Let me assure you, Anderson Construction's Ron Gailey has it all together. When I have a project to do, I normally call 3-4 contractors after screening the reviews. Of the four contractors I called , only two called back so I called two more. From reading the reviews previously, I was looking forward to speaking with Ron. His customers seemed to like him a lot. Ron was on time in meeting with us on a Saturday morning. We showed him our end-unit townhouse that needed a siding job. He spent a lot, I mean a lot of time with us laying the job out on paper, suggesting a couple of changes, timelines, commenting on materials and color, etc. We were also looking to hire another contractor who would work with Ron's company. We wanted to have some stone veneer installed around the front door and on the corner of the unit just to "kick it up a notch". This is where we were sold on Anderson. Ron told us that the siding should be installed first. He would prepare the area where the stone would be installed. He told us that he will keep us informed with his progress as well as meet with the contractor for the stone so as to have a seamless project. The two of them would figure out how both projects would complement the other. During this prep time, Ron called me a couple of times informing me of the progress they made. I wish I had taken pictures of the finished job but I can tell you that I am completely thrilled with the finished product. The detail of the siding job was fantastic. They installed the siding using "J-channels" around the electric meter, downspouts, the stone, etc. The bottom edge of the siding was finished off so as not to allow critters (or anything else in). It was a neat and professional job. The clean up was just as fantastic as the job itself. As far as price is concerned, all of the contractors came in right about the same price. I like to save money like everyone else but I can honestly say that I do look forward in working with Ron and Anderson Construction again. Thank you

BUYER BEWARE!! We would give this company zero stars if we could. We signed a contract at the end of November. We have a project that was supposed to be completed in mid-February - a month before the closure. We are still waiting. We went with WN because they were able to handle the full job: windows, doors, roof, and siding. Windows went in fine. Door install was shoddy / caulking mess, door was dinged and had to be replaced. Roof was done shoddily by a subcontractor, even when WN told us they did not sub out. We were picking nails and trash out of our yard for weeks afterward. No siding has been completed and we are being charged for gutters / spouts that were never installed. We requested siding with stone veneer. They said they could do that. We requested samples so we could pick colors. They took MONTHS to arrive, incomplete, no markings or labels. Only when we received them did we realize the samples were NOT real stone! They are Tando (molded vinyl) products. If we had not requested samples we would not have known until it was on the house. The lack of communication and the amount of time it has taken to finish this job is ridiculous. At this point, we've been partially finished through the closure and we have plywood that has now been exposed to the elements for months. I certainly understand that the closure has shaken things up and caused delays, but again - our job was supposed to have been finished well before it began. Aside from the "used car salesman", high-pressure sales tactics from Jeryl Wilborn (who had issues with other clients in the past and was eventually pulled from our account) at the get-go, we have been lied to repeatedly - about everything from errors in scheduling, to the products available, the work being sub-contracted out, charging us for unfinished jobs, and failure to communicate in a timely manner with information we needed in order to make decisions. Sales manager Cameron Howat told us that this is not the first time WN has bailed on a contract for failure to uphold their agreement. UPDATE: WN called us - after 6 months under contract - to say that they sold us a product they do not carry (Tando...even after their service guy had talked to us about installing it on other jobs) and they would not be able to honor the price agreed upon for the products we selected. If we wanted them to proceed, it would be $15K more than our contract price!! When we said this was unacceptable, they responded by bailing on the project with a letter saying they would mail us our refund for the siding job only. They are leaving us on the hook for the balance of jobs that are still not completed, as well as products not received (gutters and downspouts). At this point, they are not responding to calls or emails. We have never imagined that customer service from this company could be so poor. We will be filling complaints with the state attorney general's office and the BBB and leaving reviews wherever possible until the situation is resolved.

Recent Review: This was our second project with Anthony. The first project involved replacing steel lintels above 2 French doors and chimney repointing. The second project was a complete rebuild of a second-story deck. The deck structure was failing so Anthony saved the roof structure and removed the rest of the deck. This was a very challenging process. He built new support posts and attached a new composite deck floor with vinyl railings. He replaced the roof shingles with a very cool black metal roof with a light aluminum under roof. We loved working with Anthony on this project. He is very professional with written estimates and explained every step of the process. He handled all communications with the code inspector. We will definitely have Anthony come back for future projects.

Recent Review: I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF STONE AGE. OWNER NICKOLAY KOVALEV WAS GREAT TO WORK WITH. HE TOLD ME EXACTLY HOW MUCH STONE TO ORDER SO I COULD ARRANGE FOR IT DIRECTLY FROM THE SUPPLIER AND AVOID ANY MARK-UP. HIS WIFE OLGA WAS EXTREMELY HELPFUL IN ESTIMATING AND SCHEDULING MY PROJECT EVEN WITH WEATHER PROBLEMS TO CONTEND WITH. THIS IS A VERY SPECIALIZED SERVICE THAT REQUIRES SOMEONE WITH A GOOD EYE TO MAKE SURE THAT THE INSTALLATION LOOKS LIKE REAL STONE. THE CREW OF FIVE OR SIX WORKED VERY HARD FOR MANY DAYS FROM SUN UP TO SUN DOWN (LITERALLY) TO MAKE THE STONE LOOK PERFECT! MY PROJECT FOR STONE AGE WAS FAIRLY SMALL COMPARED TO SOME OF THE WORK NICKOLAY SHARED WITH ME. I WOULD NOT HESITATE TO USE THEM FOR ANY SIZE JOB INVOLVING STONE VENEER.

Recent Review: The employees were great! Everyone in the shop was very friendly and knowledgeable about the products they sold and gave me a lot of information on the different types of pavers and styles, as well as installation tips. The employees in the yard that handled the topsoil and mulch were also very nice. The delivery driver was very friendly as well and on time.

Recent Review: We just moved into a new condo and the previous owners neglected the exterior of the place. We looked up some reviews and called numerous paint companies and handymen for an estimate. Karl emerged from everyone for being the most fairly priced as well as being to get the work completed within a reasonable time. Some companies we spoke with quoted us the work to hopefully be done in 6 months. We hired Karl and he said he could start the work 1 week later. He showed up on time and worked just as he said he would to get the job done. Our front patio looks so much better and we really think the ‘curb appeal’ has increased ten fold. We recommend Karl to anyone as he proved to be extremely trustworthy and great at what he does. We will certainly be using him in the future! Thanks, Karl!

Recent Review: Installers (2) arrived on time. Rechecked the measurements of each window. Started quickly to install windows with one worker inside and one outside. Very professional work. Cleaned up inside and out, removed old windows, fabricated outside covering, and re-caulked. Completed in about 5 hours, including lunch break. After installation, we did a walk through and inspected each window. We are happy with the design and operation of the windows, however, disappointed with the screen design. The screens do not fit tightly and sag in places when viewed from the side. Delivery time was longer than expected.
