As a teacher with over 15 yrs experience in HK's state educational system, I can assure you this was often the norm in many classes. The NSL has rooted out a lot of the poison & many teachers are now leaving the profession or emigrating. The situation is improving.

In 2019, during the peak of the riots, my brother found $5K HKD cash in his 15yr old son's bedroom, he confessed he was given the $$ to take part in those nightly riot.

He talked about it in the family chat group but decided to not call the police, which I totally understand.
