this is simply not acceptable campus should be safe for us all to learn & teach campus should be safe for us to mourn no class is more important than the safety of our community.

Our colleague was brutally murdered on campus yesterday PM...and there were witnesses...and it's just...business as usual? Wow @uarizona. @UArizonaPres, have a heart. Some staff, students, and professors are not able to do their jobs today. twitter.com/uarizona/statuโ€ฆ

I have no words. Only sobbing. Thank you to our supportive community for reaching out. The loss is immense, especially for his family. I just canโ€™t look at his smiling picture - as that was the grin he gave me talking about hydrology & teaching only a few hours earlier.

Really important thread about what building a lab is like as a new PI in the tumult (societal and economic) of COVID and how impacts are much greater than can be accounted with the one year extension some universities give some people.

Letโ€™s talk about what itโ€™s like to be a #newPI building a lab right now (spoiler: itโ€™s not great) ๐Ÿงต(1/n)

I'm a fan of what #CIROH is trying to achieve, but I can't help but notice that these pictures are of participants who are overwhelmingly men. Our science misses out on ideas and talents when women aren't at the table. How do we do better over the next 5 years?

For many Central Americans, this denial of whiteness also tells a lot about the role their families played in the civil war/armed conflict/genocide. Because white Central Americans were not victims of statehood, some of them actively served the army to protect their settler govt.

It's so funny how there are Black people in Latin America but no white people. Conveniently they are "white-presenting," "white-passing," "white-assumed" & every other nonsensical, lying ass, cowardly behind, avoidance of accountability & reality twisting white delusional cop-out
