Description/Job Title: IPS Research Coordinator
Location: Boston, MA

Veterans CARE provides Supported Employment to Veterans with a PTSD diagnosis or Military Sexual Trauma history.  Using the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model of Supported Employment, IPS specialists provide individualized and ongoing support to help Veterans find and keep jobs that are meaningful and based on their preferences.  The IPS Research Coordinator, a key member of the Veterans CARE team, screens, recruits, consents, and collects data regularly with Veteran participants to measure progress over time. 

The IPS Research Coordinator will be a Without Compensation (WOC) employee who is located at the VA Boston Healthcare System Brockton or Jamaica Plain campus. Funding for this position is through the Tuscaloosa Research & Education Advancement Corporation (TREAC), a non-profit organization affiliated with the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center.

Position Description

Must be a US Citizen. Must pass a Federal background check prior to employment. 

Working under the supervision of a Principal Investigator, the Research Coordinator will perform the following tasks:

  • Handle the day-to-day activities related to a research project in accordance with good clinical practice, protocol and standard operating procedures
  • IRB document preparation and submissions
  • Support participant recruitment and screening
  • Collect and verify data and data entry
  • Review case report form maintenance
  • Schedule appointments
  • Answer any phone calls and inquiries regarding study protocol, refers participants when appropriate to supervisor or clinical staff
  • Interact with site staff, research participants, and clinical monitors
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for project staff
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills Required 

  • Meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of work
  • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changes in workload
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and face-to-face communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and data entry
  • Ability to work effectively in groups and independently with a high level of efficiency
  • Employees must be US Citizen and pass background check

Experience and familiarity with research and patient medical records preferred. 

Education

  • An Associate degree (A.A./A.S.) or higher
  • or equivalent in life sciences, behavioral health, or related field

HOURS

Monday – Friday, 8:00-4:30

Description/Job Title: Research Scientist
Location: Syracuse Veterans Affairs Medical Center (SVAMC)

Qualifications/expectations: This position is focused on understanding heath care issues secondary to spinal cord injury (SCI) and effective treatment/rehabilitation strategies.  The successful candidate will work with a team of dedicated scientists and clinicians whose primary position is the care of veterans with SCI. Qualified candidates should have strong experience in biomedical engineering and rehabilitation sciences and an academic rank. This is a Without Compensation (WOC) position. There is no salary for this position, and there is no plan for future employment at the VA. Individuals in these positions will need to complete a full background check with the VA.
