"Overall it was good. I would suggest to anyone thinking about using them to make sure you see all of the materials before installation. I had one issue with a dimmer switch and I ended up having to purchase the type of dimmer swtich I was looking for and then have them come back to install it. But they were professional and after the first day I didn't mind leaving them in the house unattended."

Residential elevators are not just luxurious amenities. They are also ideal for anyone who wants to maintain their mobility or age in place. Like in commercial buildings, home elevators help ease the transition of going up and down stairs. Unfortunately, they can also break down and need repairs. The following is a breakdown of common repairs and their costs:
Task | Highest Avg. Cost |
---|---|
Door hardware (Electrical) | $800 |
Door hardware (Mechanical) | $1,200 |
Replace landing entrance doors | $2,800 |
Piston | $3,000 |
Travelling cables | $3,000 |
Cab operating panels | $4,000 |
Cab wiring | $4,000 |
Replace controller wiring | $4,000 |
Piston gripper installation | $15,000 |
Motor replacement | $11,500 |
The elevator's machinery also needs to be maintained regularly to prevent squeaking and grinding, which can be annoying for homeowners and wear down important cables and gears.
