2023 (MMXXIII) will be a common year starting on Sunday of the Gregorian calendar, the 2023rd year of the Common Era (CE) and Anno Domini (AD) designations, the 23rd year of the 3rd millennium and the 21st century, and the 4th year of the 2020s decade.
The United Nations has declared 2023 as the International Year of Millets.[1]

- Uzbekistan will fully adopt the Latin alphabet.[2]
- Croatia will adopt the euro and become the 20th member state of the eurozone.[3] This will be the first enlargement of the monetary union since Lithuania's entry in 2015.
- January 10 – Microsoft will end support for Windows 8.1.
- January 12 – January 22 – 2023 Winter World University Games in Lake Placid, New York, United States.

- The Compact of Free Association with the United States for Micronesia and the Marshall Islands expires.[15]
- The European Spallation Source is expected to go into operation in Lund, Sweden.[16]
- Türksat 6A, Turkey's first domestic and national satellite, is planned to be sent to space in cooperation with SpaceX.[17]
- Malaysia will hold an election if there is not any plan to reschedule. All parliamentary and state legislative assembly seats (except Sabah, Sarawak, Malacca and Johor) will be contested.
- Sudanese general election will occur as part of its transition to democracy, with a constitutional convention on the electoral system and form of government also scheduled.[18]
- Following approval of the draft by the six EAC states after a year of consultations, the East African Confederation would be established by this year.[19]
- The 2023 Asia Cup is scheduled to be held in Pakistan.[20]
- The first light of the Vera C. Rubin Observatory is anticipated to occur in February 2023 with full science operations beginning a year later.[21]
