Deletion of MP of Germany articles[edit]

Hallo,

you proposed the deletion of 16 articles of current member of the Bundestag, the german diet. Pl. reconsider this bc. the relevance of being MP is out of question Lovemankind83 (talk) 16:24, 4 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Lovemankind83, I have no idea what you're talking about, as I have not proposed any Bundestag member for deletion. Can you link the articles in question, so that I can help you out? Curbon7 (talk) 18:45, 4 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Nadarius Clark moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Nadarius Clark, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Dr. Blazer (talk) 02:28, 6 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi Dr. Blazer! A few things to note: (1) Clark is notable per WP:NPOL; as such, as long as a sources is cited which confirms this, it is good to go. (2) Articles older than around 90 days should generally not be draftified, per WP:DRAFTIFY; other routes, such as AfD (if it's non-notable) should be taken instead. (3) Articles that have gone through the New page patrol process should not be draftified, as this indicates that a reviewer believes it to be sufficiently notable; thus, as in the last one, other routes should be explored if you feel it is unsuitable. (4) Consider adding the following gadget: User:Mr. Stradivarius/gadgets/Draftify. It is very convenient for draftifying articles so you don't have to do as much manual work! Curbon7 (talk) 02:39, 6 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Lisa Ellis (American politician)[edit]

@Curbon7 Would Lisa Ellis (American politician) be considered a cut and paste move of the Draft:Lisa Ellis (American politician) that you created? CollectiveSolidarity (talk) 04:25, 6 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

CollectiveSolidarity yes. I didn't create the draft, I just draftified it, but that user appears to have moved it back manually. Will request a WP:HISTMERGE. Curbon7 (talk) 11:24, 6 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Draft:Pavel Rudakov[edit]

Hello!

What's wrong with the book "Estrada in Russia. XX century. Encyclopedia"? This book was prepared by the team of the State Institute of Art Studies (Государственный институт искусствознания) employees, edited by Elizaveta Uvarova (Doctor of Sciences in the field of art history (1985), Professor (1993)), and published in 2004. It's the main scientific work dedicated to Russian and Soviet XX century estrada. There is no reason to doubt the reliability of this source. The article dedicated to estrada duet Rudakov & Nechayev is on the pages 584-585. Also this estrada duet is mentioned on the page 322, in the article dedicated to the coupletist genre. Moreover, Pavel Rudakov is mentioned on other pages as a mentor of different performers. I think it's enough to match the General notability guideline. K8M8S8 (talk) 06:43, 6 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

K8M8S8, I agree that he's probably notable, but over half of the article is currently unsourced. Please cite one or two additional sources that provide WP:SIGCOV and it should be good to go. Curbon7 (talk) 11:32, 6 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

About the Jonjon Mendoza made by noob guys[edit]

Hey my friend, earlier, the user named Noob guy 33 added new references so that it won't be moved to the draft again. It has reliable sources bro. 49.144.72.74 (talk) 07:41, 6 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Draft:Murad Ahmed[edit]

Tell me the Reason What are the reasons for rejecting my article? Explain it. MuradAhmed786 (talk) 13:10, 6 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

MuradAhmed786, You quite obviously do not meet our our notability criteria. Perhaps some day in the future you will, but at the moment you don't. Curbon7 (talk) 13:13, 6 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I have sent you a note about a page you reviewed[edit]

Hello, Curbon7

Thank you for creating Heinrich XXIV, Count Reuss of Köstritz.

Iseult, Fair enough. Generally, I figure nobles who held enough land to form a county are more-or-less notable, but that's a fair interpretation for this particular case. Cheers. Curbon7 (talk) 13:55, 6 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

citation question - JBH page[edit]

Hi Curbon7,

Thank you for reverting the change for lack of valid citation. I have since added the citation requested, which links the report generated by the LNC special committee to the uploaded final document on the Google Public List utilized by the Libertarian Party National Committee. DYK for Kasymaly Jantöshev[edit]

Updated DYK query.svgOn 8 July 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Kasymaly Jantöshev, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a 1955 satirical comedy play by Kasymaly Jantöshev was one of the first signs of the relaxation of Soviet literary restrictions after the death of Joseph Stalin? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Kasymaly Jantöshev. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Kasymaly Jantöshev), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Categories during AfC cleanup[edit]

Hi, pretty sure this was a copy-paste mistake of some sort, but just wanted to drop you a line to note that I've removed the living people related categories you added in this diff to the article Claude Frédéric t'Serclaes, Count of Tilly. Happy editing! Ljleppan (talk) 08:46, 8 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Ljleppan, the AfC tool freaks out when a reviewer doesn't put in a death date into the parameter box and will categorize them into Category:Living people, so we usually have to manually remove the cat. Sorry, forgot to do this last part. Curbon7 (talk) 11:25, 8 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
No worries, these things happen. Good to know about the death date too, for future reference :) Ljleppan (talk) 13:29, 8 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Albert Johnson (Mississippi politician) - thanks![edit]

Thanks for catching that! I did look but missed it. S0091 (talk) 17:57, 10 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Yeah that website isn't well designed lol. Curbon7 (talk) 17:59, 10 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Very nice of you to kitten me a while back[edit]

Low gumption. Not for any specific reason. Needed to step back for a minute. I know from experience when I exceed my willingness my pagework is not very impressive. No energy to edit so I stopped editing. Worked on my health and meditation. I still read a lot of pedia, even boards. Following your work. Saw some places where we might find disagreement. But as I ripen I value differing points of view more than I once did. BOLD and AGF are my guiding stars. As wikipedians, disagreement is where we live.

I hope you and yours are well. I'm enormously grateful that you thought of me. BusterD (talk) 16:01, 11 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

BusterD, we all need breaks every now and again, WP can be stressful at times and burnout is real. I took some time off from editing in May while I was visiting family, and it felt really refreshing. I've gotten back into article creation, mainly saving doomed drafts that are notable. If you ever find yourself with some time and don't know what to do, I have them sorted in subpages at my sandbox. The list is infinitely expanding for as long as SDZeroBot publishes the daily declination/weekly draftification reports. Right now though I'm working on an article from scratch: Draft:Betty Hall (politician), who was an absolutely fascinating person ([1][2]). It's obviously not in publishing state at the moment (I'm still in the word-vomit phase), but I'm on the cusp of finishing the hardest part and I can't wait to see the end product. I'm aiming for GA, so I'm trying to get it as good and as whole of a picture as possible. Curbon7 (talk) 17:30, 11 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
As you can also see here, I still haven't fixed my issue of typing way too much lol. It's gotten better though. Curbon7 (talk) 17:41, 11 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Too much rough draft is a great place to start. I once complimented a fellow train rider on her seeming ability to just throw stuff down on the page without thinking. She appreciated the notice because she said facility and willingness was a challenge for her until she started doing daily pages (a part of The Artist's Way). I'm a firm believer in throwing spitballs at the wall to see what sticks. I get sentimental about some subjects myself, get drawn into caring so much it's harder for me to edit. I can't explain it and I've been re-learning new page patrol to help shake the habit. But Betty's a sweet subject, I agree. BusterD (talk) 18:11, 11 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Khorsedur Rahman Khan[edit]

Bad draftifying; see NPOL. TrangaBellam (talk) 18:18, 11 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

TrangaBellam, to be completely honest, I have no idea why I draftified that. Thanks for catching my mistake! Curbon7 (talk) 18:20, 11 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Thank you for fixing my error on Matt Gaetz. I know it was done in Marjorie Taylor Greene’s page, so is it only before the word politician we can’t do it? Bbraxtonlee (talk) 04:00, 12 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Generally yeah, we don't want to use ideological descriptors in the first sentence like that before politician (heck, we don't even do that with Hitler). MTG is a different case because the far-right descriptor is attached to conspiracy theorist. Curbon7 (talk) 15:05, 12 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Draft:Paul M. Sparrow[edit]

Thank you for the quick review. Can you please offer assistance regarding any unreliable/non-independent sources in the draft? Which portions of the draft require additional sourcing, given that much of Sparrow's early career pre-dates online references? Thanks again, Danceswithedits (talk) 16:02, 12 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Danceswithedits, As this is a WP:BLP, all statements need to be properly cited with reliable and independent sources. Almost all of the Broadcasting Career, Museum & Library Career, and Other Activities sections lack this, as well as part of the Early Career & Education section. We do accept the use of offline sources. Curbon7 (talk) 16:35, 12 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks again for the quick reply. Can you please identify any unreliable or un-independent sources? I've added several IMDB, White House Historical Association, Roosevelt Institute and others that all appear to be reliable and/or independent. Thanks again. The external link, also known as roblox.com is not possible to be posted at all, at either way it's not locally blacklisted, not globally blacklisted nor it's even not on monitor list, I need help with whitelisting it. Enternian (talk) 10:45, 23 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Enternian, No. There's a point why it's blacklisted. If you keep spamming Wikipedia with this crap, you will likely end up blocked, so I urge you to desist. Curbon7 (talk) 17:44, 23 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Help[edit]

Hey! So you probably don’t remember me but you fixed my edit with Matt Gaetz far-right thing. Well, I tried fixing it like you with Paul Gosar and Wendy Rogers, but they said it was allowed. I believe you, but don’t know how to word it so they won’t revert my change. Can you maybe help? Bbraxtonlee (talk) 05:40, 26 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I’m sorry they accused me of whitewashing lmao because I used Hitler as an example … Bbraxtonlee (talk) 06:17, 26 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Bbraxtonlee, Do you remember when I said there are exceptions? Gosar and Rogers are very much the exceptions lol, as they are actually literally far-right. It's kinda nuanced so don't worry about it. Curbon7 (talk) 11:39, 26 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It's also dependent on local consensus. Curbon7 (talk) 12:14, 26 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Draft:Diagalon[edit]

Hey, you recently reviewed https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Diagalon and you gave a reason for its denial as "Sources do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject " in total there are currently 19 sources two are "passing mentions" the rest are seemingly reliable sources from seperate independent organisations such as the Canadian Anti-Hate Network. Can you please elaborate on why it was declined? i have resubmitted the draft and is currently awaiting re-review. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thingsomyipisntvisable (talkcontribs) 15:12, 26 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thingsomyipisntvisable, WP:FRINGE applies. Just because there is some limited coverage of this crackpot group doesn't mean it meets our notability guidelines for organizations or our general notabiltiy guidelines. It could be very selectively merged to Canada convoy protest (like basically only a sentence), but there isn't enough to warrant a standalone article. To quote from WP:FRINGE, "Because Wikipedia aims to summarize significant opinions with representation in proportion to their prominence, a Wikipedia article should not make a fringe theory appear more notable or more widely accepted than it is". Curbon7 (talk) 15:19, 26 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
if in theory i indluded how many "members" are speculated as according to sources this includes all forms of Diagalon banned media ( https://ragingdissident.com/ ) "Because Wikipedia aims to summarize significant opinions with representation in proportion to their prominence, a Wikipedia article should not make a fringe theory appear more notable or more widely accepted than it is". then **in theory** that would be okay right?
"there isn't enough to warrant a standalone article" does this just mean i need more sources? Thingsomyipisntvisable (talk) 15:25, 26 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
dont get me wrong i dont plan on using Diagalon banned media as a source it is purley an example of "widespread" support Thingsomyipisntvisable (talk) 15:27, 26 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thingsomyipisntvisable, at this point, I think you may find better help at the AfC Help Desk or the Fringe theories/Noticeboard. Curbon7 (talk) 15:54, 26 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Draft:Lawrence B. Sawyer[edit]

Hello, how can I improve sourcing here? I am citing 3 websites and 4 books. Is there anything wrong with the cited sources? Jchw1994 (talk) 16:06, 26 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Jchw1994, Sources must be reliable and independent. Notability is determined by how significant the coverage is, not just how many sources are cited. Curbon7 (talk) 16:36, 26 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Curbon7, I have made significant updates to the page, including some more direct sources for reliability. Hopefully they are sufficient. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jchw1994 (talkcontribs)

Draft:Three Star Books[edit]

Hi, can you suggest how I could make my sources better for the page above? All cited sources are independent, so I'm wondering if there's a length(in pages?) that makes an article or book chapter significant enough to be of value? Thank you in advance! Artistsbooksforever (talk) 14:15, 28 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Artistsbooksforever, In order to demonstrate notability, sources do need to be reliable and independent, but also need to to provide significant coverage of the subject. It may be beneficial to view our notability criteria for corporations and organizations. If there are offline sources that provide SIGCOV, are reliable, and are independent, these can certainly be used! Curbon7 (talk) 14:37, 28 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Per WP:OFFLINE, we would typically just assume good-faith that the claims made are in the offline source. If those offline sources are on Google Books, it would definitely help, but it's not a biggie. Curbon7 (talk) 16:11, 28 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Why did you call my language a “crank” language?[edit]

(For context it was Transbanian, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Transbanian) 49.183.2.81 (talk) 01:36, 30 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It's a completely non-notable made-up language. There are no reliable sources, nor will there ever be reliable sources. As I stated, Wikipedia is not the place to do promotion. Curbon7 (talk) 01:42, 30 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It’s not made-up. There is no such thing as a “made-up” language. All sources are created by the foundation. EpicGuy22 (talk) 02:12, 30 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I worked on this language for 10 years just for you to call it “fake” and say it will never be big. Please learn to be nicer and do your research before insulting people. EpicGuy22 (talk) 03:36, 30 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Mate I'm just relaying that the present form is not suitable for Wikipedia. Who knows, it may just be the next Esperanto, and I wish you the best of luck; however, at the moment, there is nothing that indicates notability. Curbon7 (talk) 04:31, 30 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

How notable does it have to be? EpicGuy22 (talk) 05:55, 30 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Notability is indicated by significant coverage provided by reliable sources that are independent of the subject (i.e. not primary sources). Curbon7 (talk) 16:29, 30 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Correct title?[edit]

Hi! May I ask why you think that this move was to a "correct title"? – to it seems worse rather than better. Was there perhaps some discussion of it somewhere that I've missed? Thanks, regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 21:22, 1 August 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The format for literally every other cat in the Category:Alumni by university or college tree (and the Category:Faculty by university or college tree for that matter) is University of such-and-such alumni, so it's clear that that is the format of choice. I figured it was uncontroversial enough to bypass the bureaucracy of taking a 14 year old misnamed category to CfD since it is the format for literally every other cat, but I can rvt and CfD if you want. (I probably should've left a better edit summary tho). Curbon7 (talk) 21:29, 1 August 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

New Page Patrol newsletter August 2022[edit]

New Page Review queue August 2022

Hello Curbon7,

Backlog status

After the last newsletter (No.28, June 2022), the backlog declined another 1,000 to 13,000 in the last week of June. Then the July backlog drive began, during which 9,900 articles were reviewed and the backlog fell by 4,500 to just under 8,500 (these numbers illustrate how many new articles regularly flow into the queue). Thanks go to the coordinators Buidhe and Zippybonzo, as well as all the nearly 100 participants. Congratulations to Dr vulpes who led with 880 points. See this page for further details.

Unfortunately, most of the decline happened in the first half of the month, and the backlog has already risen to 9,600. Understandably, it seems many backlog drive participants are taking a break from reviewing and unfortunately, we are not even keeping up with the inflow let alone driving it lower. We need the other 600 reviewers to do more! Please try to do at least one a day.

Coordination
MB and Novem Linguae have taken on some of the coordination tasks. Please let them know if you are interested in helping out. MPGuy2824 will be handling recognition, and will be retroactively awarding the annual barnstars that have not been issued for a few years.
Open letter to the WMF
The Page Curation software needs urgent attention. There are dozens of bug fixes and enhancements that are stalled (listed at Suggested improvements). We have written a letter to be sent to the WMF and we encourage as many patrollers as possible to sign it here. We are also in negotiation with the Board of Trustees to press for assistance. Better software will make the active reviewers we have more productive.
TIP - Reviewing by subject
Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages by their most familiar subjects can do so from the regularly updated sorted topic list.

New reviewers
The NPP School is being underused. The learning curve for NPP is quite steep, but a detailed and easy-to-read tutorial exists, and the Curation Tool's many features are fully described and illustrated on the updated page here.
Reminders
  • Consider staying informed on project issues by putting the project discussion page on your watchlist.
  • If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, suggest they help the effort by placing {{subst:NPR invite}} on their talk page.
  • If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.
  • To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.

Autopatrolled granted[edit]

Wikipedia Autopatrolled.svg

Hi Curbon7, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed' and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned prolific creators of articles where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.

Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.

Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! — TheresNoTime (talk • she/her) 22:07, 15 August 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Draft:Siva Murugesan[edit]

the actual subject in the title is not notable, but we already have an article on the notable subject, V. Balasundaram and that draft as created by one of several socks in an attempt to spam Siva Murugesan. PRAXIDICAE🌈 15:43, 16 August 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Praxidicae, thanks! I was doing the weekly check through User:SDZeroBot/Draftify Watch so I didn't take too close a look, but I figured something was off since the creator was sock blocked. Curbon7 (talk) 15:48, 16 August 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
No worries, I'm just watching it as a honeypot because this CIR spam sock likes to come back and do the same exact thing over and over... PRAXIDICAE🌈 15:48, 16 August 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
